Oddly enough, I tend to lose on vacation. I think I have more fun stuff to do that food isn't an issue. This is when I'm grateful for my food allergies. Some of them are pretty bad, so I have to pack food wherever I go. I seriously worry about suggestions you don't remember your goals. However, remember that you don't have…

Honestly, I find I do the best when I don't focus on the actual weight loss, but the health benefits overall. Right now my doctor and I are debating the use of medications to lower my cholesterol. I asked her for three months to see what I could do with diet and exercise again. I did it before, I'd like to prove to myself…

I'm going to trust my doctor and my body. I have been tested no less than three times for MS. It was getting bad enough that we were looking at the 4th MRI because no one could believe that it wasn't showing up. My doctor, a wise and dedicated woman saw a bottle of soda in my bag. "What is that?" She explained in detail…

I've been fighting off getting into a 16 again. I'm okay with my 14s but the thought of going back to the 16s scared me into coming back. Once upon a time I was in a 20, so I guess I'm in a much better place, but an 8 would be so much nicer so I have to keep working at it. I have to find ways of NOT having the junk call…

A dietician or nutritionist is a great idea. I wish I could see one. Our insurance will only cover it if I'm Diabetic--so much for prevention. You'd think being 70 pounds overweight would justify it! So, my husband is diabetic and the endocrinologist has referred him and he won't go. Go figure. But since everyone's body is…

The PCOS is a beast. You have my sympathy. I suffered with it for years--ended up with a complete hysterectomy at forty. I found a few of the standard birth control pills that helped not only the pain but the weight, but when I went off the pill to have kids the weight came on big time: 40 pounds in six months. Definitely…

Are you tracking everything you eat? Sauces and toppings can add a bunch of empty calories. If you're tracking truthfully, have you seen your doctor for a complete checkup. Fluctuations in hormones can do a number on weight loss. I have a hypothyroid which makes my doctor crazy because after seventeen years the levels…

I'm really looking forward to Week 6. I have a place to get awesome whole grain bread and I'm going to have it sliced thin and enjoy it thoroughly.

Seltzer saved me on the cranberry juice and the hibiscus tea. I loved the flavor of the cranberry but it was too strong so I cut it 1:1 with seltzer and saved the rest of the can for the tea. I added stevia to the tea once or twice but it didn't really help. I don't like herbal teas. The flaxseed oil is just plain nasty,…

I was so happy when I weighed in after week 3, it had been difficult to stick to only because I was in Florida for my mom's funeral. I was terrified I'd start the emotional eating, which I did not. After 3 weeks i am down 5 pounds and that is a miracle. Mom would be so proud! Week four is going pretty good so far. I'm…

Good for you, Roadtripper. My daughter and I are doing it together and she was complaining that it was "too hard". Then she weighed in to begin week 2 and I heard the scream for a 3 pound loss. She's happy to keep going now. I am down 2 pounds and finding myself less and less hungry when its time for a meal, but I eat a…

Dr. Smith mentions to be flexible. I noticed a comment on his Facebook page that very lean ham will work instead of chicken. I think the idea is to limit red meat and stick to very lean proteins. I grill up a bunch and just add different sauces. When I can have rice I mix it together with the veggie or in a large garden…

I haven't finished the first week yet and I'm down over two pounds. That doesn't sound like much but I've gained thirty in the last four years while trying to stay on another program. Shred allows me to follow the same good health guidelines I've learned that help me lose weight before combined with meal plans so I don't…

I would think it would depend on what type of exercising. I use the elliptical and that means I need shoes to support my feet and ankles. But when I do pilates or weights i usually don't. I definitely think anything really aerobic where you are on your feet, you should have the support of good sneakers or an exercise…

Absolutely true, it is the reason we drink water, to flush out the toxins, but if someone is "holding water" from sodium the first thing the doctor says is: drink more water (unless you have known kidney issues then they look for other issues).

According to my doctor, who is a very bright woman, as long as there is no aspartame, sugar, milk, etc in coffee or tea it is all water. Other research I have done indicates the diuretic effect of the caffeine in tea and coffee has little to no effect on the amount of water consumed. After forty years of insisting only…

I've dealt with the same issue. Personally I found I needed to add cellulose fiber and make sure to get in enough olive oil as well as having whole grain cereals as a snack--I especially like Whole Grain total. My doctor recommended stool softeners, which I didn't find all that helpful. I also had to reduce the amount of…
