3 year survivor here! I was diagnosed in July 2010 at age 26 - after a double mastectomy, 6 rounds of chemo and 28 radition treatments, and reconstruction I am happy to say I am focusing on a healthier life :-) Very nice to meet you! Sending a friend request :-)

That is a great way to look at it...I like it :-)

Thank you for all the info I appreciate it One other question, if the hand held devices are not really reliable is there a better way to measure BF%? Because I think that BF% is probably the best way to gauge progress from this point forward.

We have to do a health assessment for insurance purposes at work - and he measured using one of the hand held devices. I definitely lost 30 lbs - and did so by first changing my way of eating, and then adding in exercise. In your opinion, why was my weight loss goal incorrect?? What should it have been? My current status…

Have macros at 40/30/30 right now - should protein be higher percentage maybe? Thanks :-)
-
Yep, eating at a deficit - not as drastic as when I started, but still aim for a 200-300 calorie deficit per day :-)
-
I wish I would have thought of that ;-) I get that part - but I am looking for tips on how to move it along and what helps

I really do feel bad for you hun. I know how much you have been working towards this :-( Chin up - your race will come one day!

The best suggestion I can make is for you to figure out your TDEE (the amount of calories you burn a day) by using one of the website calculators. Then, cut it by 15-20% and eat at that calorie level. If it helps, avoid the scales for a couple weeks because it will go up and down since you are changing it up. And you…

This thread is amazing and congrats to everyone who shared their stories :-) I was one of the ones that hated running, never appealed to me, and I would always run out of breath or get frustrated even trying to run around the block. I started really focusing on nutrition and exercise in January of this year. I knew I…

I have a Fitbit One and I love it - it keeps you mindful on how much activity really matters...and I love the website and the graphs that show your average steps, calorie burns, and trends :-)

Hi :-) I am 5' 3" and current at 128. I started out at 1,200 calories like many others too...but as I started to exercise more and build more muscle I needed more fuel. I have my goal set for 1,500 - but some days I do go over that. I try to come in at 300- 500 calorie deficit daily...so it all depends on activity. On days…

Hi there - feel free to add me if you like I am a newbie heavy lifter - doing New Rules of Lifting for Women at home I also run three times a week 2 jobs/2 kids Open diary - I don't consider myself a clean eater - but I do fairly well - I have a calorie goal of 1,500 (more on heavy burn days) and I am working hard to hit…

Thank you :-) I started out really getting my food on point - I went for a 500-750 calorie deficit at first - but weighed everything and learned alot about how much food I needed. 1,200 didn't cut it but I couldn't eat 2,000 either. After that I started working out in April. Started with Turbo Fire (I love the HIIT…

I agree. I believe if you have all of your settings correctly on your body media fit and are truly burning those calories you need more fuel to keep going. I have tried a number of different calculations on what my calorie intake should be and honestly the one that has been consistant for me is TDEE - 20%. I only have a…

I have yet to try Quest bars - but everyone swears by them. I like Balance Bars and Zone Perfect because both have the macro breakdown I am looking for. 40/30/30 Plus they taste yummy :-)

Love this - absolutely keep up the exercise just adjust your calorie intake. I am very close to having to do this myself - enjoy the extra healthy food!! :-)
