  • I've had a total thyroidectomy for a thyroid tumour. I'm currently on 125mcg levothyroxine (T4) but I've been quite ill recently and my TSH has climbed a lot. With a TSH of 8 I'm clinically hypothyroid so I'm in the process of having my dose adjusted upwards. While I would love to lay the blame for my weight on my (lack…
  • Hi everyone, hoping its ok just to jump in here :). I live in the UK, I'm 55 and I have around 50 to lose. I initially joined MFP in September last year and did great till Xmas, losing 19 lbs. Then both my 16 year old DD and I both needed major surgery within about 3 weeks of each other. Her's was planned, mine was a…
  • I'm 55, and have just posted elsewhere about restarting. I lost 19lbs between September and Xmas, then needed a big operation, and have felt so unwell and sorry for myself tat Ive put 8 back on. So just restarting today. I also have no thyroid, and my thyroxine levels have been all over the place recently. I've about 42…
  • I love my salmon with broccoli with chilli flakes, and soy sauce.
  • I've never really been called names as such, but I was devastated about a year ago. I was trying a jacket on in a store, and it was the biggest size they had (a UK 20). I had already decided it didn't suit me, when this other customer came over, and said to me 'I hope you don't mind me saying, dear, but you really need to…
  • My previously very troublesome heartburn has certainly almost gone, and I've only lost 12 lbs out of 60 so far. I was putting it down to less upwards pressure rather than a specific food stuff, but will pay more attention. But yes, very pleasant side effect :-)
  • That's fantastic, well done. My long term aim is to be able to pinch some of my 16 year old's clothes ;). (she would be horrified and immediately stop wearing them,)
  • Well done Kelly! Will be so chuffed to say hello to 13 stone again!
  • Me :( I started at 220, 10lbs down, and the only thing I've noticed so far is that my shoes are now all too big!!
  • That's what was worrying me really, as I know it will slow right down, but my friend was implying that it would stop completely if I ate more than 1000 calories. Need to get my head round this net calorie biz :). Thanks.
  • That's a relief then that I can/should be eating more than 1200. I had visions of a very miserable 6 months ahead trying to get by on eating 1000 cals a day.
  • I set it to lose 1.5 a week. I'm used to a fairly high level of exercise - it's just that I (used to have!) an even higher level of intake! I know that the loss will slow down after the first couple of weeks are past, I don't plan on losing at that level forever.
  • I looked at diet chef last week, decided I wasn't going to pay someone vast amounts of money to send me sachets of food, and found MFP the same day :-) I did decide to do M&S Count on Us for the first two weeks, mainly to give me a real sense of what a portion looks like. My diet was already pretty healthy, just WAY too…
