  • My plateau happened and made me NUTS for a couple weeks. Then I decided to eat back less of my workout cals. The problem was likely that the treadmill was overestimating my burn, which everyone says, but I never want to hear :) On top of that, I upped my protein by about 10% a day and I think that was the other big factor.…
  • Hey, I really want to respond because we have a very similar situation… I was 142 lbs 105 days ago. That's the most I have ever weighed and it felt really wrong, just bizarre. Tired, lumpy, whatever. Today I'm 126. So the weight has been coming off at a pound a week very steadily. I do walk at incline and run without, just…
  • Buy a property upstate and start building my dream house. Adopt some more dogs and start a family of goats :) Go to Capetown, Paris, Burma, Kyoto, Seychelles, Mardives, Reykjavik…. Buy my husband the car he's always wanted. Go get my masters degree. Wait, I still don't think I could afford all of that.
  • I never played sports as a kid. I read a lot of books alone at recess :/ I never danced or liked swimming or climbed trees because I was too shy to get out there and join the group. But I also never wanted to eat more than a fistful of food in a sitting…never craved piles of candy or more than one piece of cake or pizza……
  • LIFE IS A FLAT CIRCLE. The script blows my mind every week. That scene in the ghetto….one of the most masterfully shot ever. I don't think either of the detectives is the killer, the creator of the show has said that it's mostly about character development, not about shocking us with the wildest thing he could think of.…
  • I smoked for 15 years so I never felt as though I could run. Within the last year I got into it and it's hard pretty much every time. But here are the tips from someone who runs runs runs despite the feeling that "I can't" - drop your shoulders -try not to run right up at the 'front' of the treadmill…try to step back and…
  • My fav breakfast right now: whole wheat tortilla wrap with scrambled egg white, chopped up jalapeño chicken sausage, tomatillo salsa, sprinkle of cojita cheese, black beans. Foe some people it might be too spicy or savory for the A.M, but its FULL of protein and quite low in calories. Also if you don't love eating first…
  • Wow, that was such an insensitive thing for your coworker to say so bluntly! I'm sorry you were hurt like that. My experience with this issue is only through my mother, who performs surgeries, mostly bariatric. While it is common for previously obese patients to need to have skin removed after significant weight loss, it…
  • OOOOOOOOO going to make
  • Bread. I don't beat it, I just reduced how much of it I eat. If I have 2 or 3 vodkas though, I can't stop it. Will eat whole baguettes. The days I keep the amount of carbs down, I have no crash and I feel less like I'm carrying a brick in my gut. Remembering that feeling helps me say NOOOOOOOO walk away from the bakery.
  • I make an espresso/vanilla protein powder/almond milk iced drink in the morning to get me moving. It's awesome. It is not a meal replacement, it is a good start to reaching my protein goal which sometimes I have a tough time with. I would not suggest Slim Fast, as it is meant to replace meals. That never lasts long.
  • I don't usually go over my sugar amounts when I look at the weekly breakdown….what I do go over is salt. Every damn day. I find that avoiding things in jars or bottles keeps my sugar down. Meaning, I don't buy sauces, I very seldomly buy bottled drinks, I prepare a lot of my meals. I try to limit bread to only at one meal…
  • If texture is an issue (which I totally understand, I have certain textures that sleeve me out) you should get a grater and grate mild veggies (carrots, potato, zucchini, yams, etc) into your pasta dishes, cheese sauces, tomato sauces, stews, casseroles….I make a hearty mac and cheese for picky kids that includes white…
  • I'm 30 years old, 5'6, 126 lbs currently. I have never ever had thin thighs. I trained pretty hard at intervals in my 20s….kickboxing, running, yoga, etc…to no avail. Flat tummy, abs, toned arms, little waist, TREE TRUNK THIGHS. Strong and smooth but never thin. You can reduce overall fat, of course, but your build is your…

  • all of the above, cosign. Also, I've posted this before, but in the last few months before my wedding (I was already slim so I was able to sort of just tone up) I found that daily push-ups and planks did the job for my arms. Just kept increasing the amount of time I did them for as it got easier. It made a big difference…
  • OOOOOO I love' bless your heart' I also love 'I hear that!' The South. Heaven to the ears.
  • I've been a nanny for 13 years. Helped raise 18 children so far :) Most of them are very particular about food so don't feel too dejected. Use positive language when you present a meal or a snack. Let them see you eating the same things they are served. Do not hide your 'fun' food and try to pass them the veggies, know…
  • I went through a phase of trying all different times of the day and it took me awhile to figure out what was best too. The thing that stuck with me was one night I got on the treadmill at about 11pm with plans to just walk on an incline and take it easy. But on a whim I pumped it up to start running and it felt really…
  • Whole wheat bread BLAT (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) English muffin with deli turkey, swiss, light mayo and some fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro whatever you like) low carb bagel with ANYTHING (my fav is roast beef and colby jack cheese with tomato and mayo stuffed pita sandwich with veggies, tzatziki, and hummus or chick…
  • I feel like starting with this list will help you get on the road to cooking http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/diet-tips/ultimate-healthy-grocery-list Stock up on the right things and its easy to make it all happen. Then I would suggest two things: One, go to Epicurious.com and click the filter for easy recipes. Cook…
  • Once in awhile I grab a bottled green juice, but I always buy Bolthouse, or I buy from a juice bar. There is actually a huge class action suit against Naked (PepsiCo is the parent company) for misrepresentation on their labels (they claim to be 'all natural' and 'non GMO' but they are not) I would suggest startig with the…
  • Just taking a guess that you didn't read the link I posted about govt. and subsidies. If you're interested take a look, if not then we are on different pages and there's no need to move forward. I don't kowtow the idea on MFP or any other internet forum that 'tame' responses should be applauded. I don't think we should…
  • I always feel myself coming back to one piece of advise that I wish someone had told me a few years ago…it's really really hard to start something great…but somehow it gets easier every day that goes by. It's the same as that first week after quitting smoking…the same thing as that first week after a bad breakup….you know…
  • Whatta egg whatta egg whatta egg whatta mighty good egg (he's a mighty mighty good egg)
  • If you start the pot with a diced onion and some chopped bell peppers you won't regret it
  • bump. my husband will eat the other 11 right after I eat the first 1.
  • Spinderella fry it up one time
  • One of my girlfriends said the most AMAZING thing to me the other day, reminds me of your co-worker… She said that being a girl and eating more than 50 grams of protein a day is a terrible stupid and it's going to make me bigger…how does she know this? Well, because "she's a hygienist and being a hygienist is basically…
  • That was definitely the surprise of the bunch, MAKING THEM.
