I did the RunDouble program of C25K. Week 5 day 3 was the first day in my life I had ever ran a mile... and I ran two straight. I was pretty proud of myself. I'm now on the bridge to a 10k and from there hopefully a half. It worked for me. I loved it. My advice to you is just to RUN SLOW. Run to where you can't run any…

I can't comment on shoes, but I would suggest you invest in a good pair of merino wool socks to keep your feet warm if you haven't already.

Self publish online as an ebook!

Mafia hitman, Spy, or Shirley Temple.

I think I shall do both

I know right. I am going to use this thread as my excuse not to run tonight and instead read and laugh at the hangery bitter people and eat ice cream.
-
Me too.

Considering the amount of threads made on this topic by people with their pantiess in a twist, I really should start wearing make up in the gym just for spite

Fajitas would be a safe choice. Just lay off the cheese and sour cream. Also be carefull with refried beans. They tend to be cooked in lard. Which I imagine isn't terribly calorie friendly.

At the moment it is me at MP. Which was the number one thing on my bucket list that I wouldn't have been able to do if I didn't suck it up and decide it was time to get healthy and fulfilling my own dreams.

No. I am not too fond of them. The Trader Joe's version of an Oreo though.... YUM.

Personal preference. I would find something like "if I can do it, so can you" to be trite and patronizing. Just because it doesn't blow air up your skirt in no way makes it wrong or absurd. Just different strokes for different people

Yeah... Going to the park and actually playing with your child on the playground instead of playing on your phone on a park bench (which is one of the ways she stays in shape) is totally unrealistic and unreasonable. Mmmhmmm.

She has her background on the link you just posted. You might want to read it. I think the point you are missing is that so many are taking away from this is if you want to be healthy and fit there really isn't an excuse. Owning two businesses and raising three young kids without a nanny and she managed it. Heck, look at…

This. Some people just like being miserable and spend the entire of their days finding things to hate and be offended by.

For the past 6 years I have been going to the post office for my job about twice day a day... They are human. Some people have bad days, some people are just lazy jerks, and some of them always go out of their way to friendly. You get a mix of it all. People are just so self entitled now that if everyone isn't kissing…

One of my favorite memories as a child was going to the Farmer's Market with my mom every weekend. We would always hunt for something new to try. Passion fruit, Star fruit, ect. She would also occasionally take us to farms where you could pick your own produce. Both gave me a really healthy appreciation for fruits and…

That's a joke right? Because Radiohead is pretty iconic. Plus there was a little hit called "Creep" that was pretty huge. One of my all time favorite musicans is Ben Folds/Ben Folds Five, but people only know him for the abortion song "Brick" which is sad because he is amazing. Some other people said I thought were great:…

Did week 1 day 2 of 5k to 10k bridge tonight. You run .8 miles 5 times with a VERY short walking break inbetween. Whew. It was hard.

Kinda disappointed in this thread. I thought it was going to be something like: I don't go to gyms... But when I do, they are made of bacon and all the girls squat heavy or something.

I wanted to do the Tinkerbell half in 2014, but it wasn't in the cards. I didn't have enough money to justify it when registration opened. Hopefully 2015 will be the year

I am a bit north of you in Camarillo so a bit too far away other than an occasional hiking friend. Have you looked into the Sierra Club or meetup for local hiking groups?
-
Where are you running? I can't last 5 minutes on a treadmill, but put me outside (a trail is even better!) And I am a beast

The only way this has had an impact on me so far is that gas has gone down. I have no doubt it will start negatively affecting me in some form or another eventually though.

The options for exercise are limitless. Try it all until you find something you enjoy. Dance, yoga, swimming, roller blading, hiking, bike riding, kick boxing... Sites like groupon have deals on Yoga and stuff. Try and sample stuff until you find something you like

Ooh. Yum

So after finishing c25k I took a month off to go on a vacation and I am back and running once again! I did the first run of 5k to 10k. Whew. That was hard. I am so out of running shape.

Myfitnesspal works where you make your own food choices. Here it is basically about calories in vs calories out. Eat whatever you want, just make sure you are under the calorie number MFP has given to you The thing nice about this place is that by logging all your food choices you become more aware of what you are eating…

I just got back from a month long vacation where I was unable to run.... So I run again tonight. Hopefully I don't die or have to start C25K all over again.
