  • I am going to do this! Write it on the calendar, that is, the next time I get a really good one. Yesterday I had a great number - today's wasn't terrible. But I have noticed that on the days when I log the most exercise, the number is the lowest. I think it is just a formula based on calories ingested v. calories burned…
  • I agree - you can be super strong and toned, but if your body is holding onto a layer of fat over the muscles, you won't see the six-pack. And you have to really work with your diet if you want to get that "cut-up" look. People who eat a lot of carbs generally don't get that (or at least, women don't, in my experience).
  • Welcome!!
  • Well, I buy the powder, but it is worth it to me because the one I use is more like fruit juice - I can't stand the milky (chocolate/vanilla) ones. It is called Syntrax Nectar, and my flavors of choice are Roadside Lemonade, Fuzzy Navel and Crystal Sky. You do have to mix it with your own water, but if you get a blender…
  • Do this, and then put an apple on HER desk.
  • I'm in - is there a group or challenge started for this??
  • Something is definitely going on there. Eating between 12-1500 calories a day, going to Jazzercise 6 times per week, for the last 940 days?? Could there be some other medical condition going on? Thyroid maybe? Have you had any testing done? Your body is being really stubborn! What kinds of foods do your calories come from?…
  • I feel like there might be some setting on your HRM that is off. You do weigh less than I do (and did), but that seems really low for a 1-hour class, even at lower intensity. I have been teaching for 7 1/2 years, and going to Jazz for almost 10, and I have gone through periods where I average over one class per day when i…
  • This surprises me, because when I used to wear a HRM my burn was in the 600-700 range? I was coming back from maternity leave, and my weight at the time was about 175->165. The calorie count decreased a little as I lost weight, but was never lower than 550. Are you sure you have it set up correctly? If so, do you feel like…
  • I should probably let you all know that my name is Melissa!! You are welcome!
  • I did Weight Watchers - that was about 4 1/2 years ago, and it was awesome. Had I not become pregnant I have no doubt I would still be that size. But I am almost 40 now, and the weight gain from baby #2 just came at a bad time for my metabolism. I have been thinner than I am now (recent weight gain is due to another…
  • You aren't the first and you won't be the last! You are a whole person, not just an "appearance," and it is easy to edit the things we aren't into dealing with at any given moment because there is so much else in our lives to fill the space. Seeing a photo was the bit moment for me too. It is nice to know that everyone…
  • I am trying to lose the same amount of weight, but in a much shorter time frame! I have done it before, after my first baby, as soon as I started tracking and paying attention I lost 30 lbs in 3 months. Since baby #2 I have not had that kind of success, so I am embarking on a low-carb eating regimen and hoping for the…
  • To those who wonder if they should be adding in another workout, here is what I think. Well-roundedness is a good thing. I have been known to sign up for the occasional 5K, I swim now and then, and I have two little kids, so I expend a pretty good amount of energy on a daily basis. For the past 9 years, however, my only…
  • This stuff is BY FAR the best - fresh and fruity rather than heavy and milky. I love Fuzzy Navel, but also love Roadside Lemonade and Crystal Sky.
  • ...because it is a "compliment" that undermines some people emotionally. These people are subtly saying that they don't really want you to get any thinner/healthier/better looking because it ups the bar for them. Maybe not in every case, but I have known those people, and when you are struggling to lose weight it can be…
  • Those with a high standard for how they want to look are a minority. Most people are overweight and choose to believe that is how they should be. By most people's standards, I am at a healthy weight and in great shape. But I happen to know that I am almost 20 pounds above the highest weight in my healthy BMI range. I work…

  • I would have used pretzels but we didn't have any!! lol..... gross, right? I just needed that sweet/salty combo....
  • None today for me! Teaching a double tomorrow, though....I teach at Jazzercise of Germantown, MD.
  • There have been a few scattered about in a couple centers I have worked in, but for the most part, no. That is a Jazzercise mandate, actually. There are reasons behind it, but I can't tell you offhand what they are. It might be as simple as helping people to become more confident an not criticize themselves so much... I…
  • Sort of...It is from The Slow Cooker Revolution book, but mine is a little haphazard because I didn't have all of the ingredients. I'll try to scan and post it...
  • I recommend Syntrax Nectar - it is not milky at all - rather fresh and fruity. I hate creamy protein drinks, but I love this one, especially after a work out when blended up with lots of ice. I have been doing the low-carb thing now for a little less than 2 weeks and I am loving it. On days when I have a hard time getting…
  • I almost put that question directly to you, but I didn't want to be a pain in the butt since I have asked you for so much information already! I am being a model student today. You know what I think the trigger was? Those damn chick pea brownies! Until I made those, I didn't miss chocolate at all. Amazing how carbs beget…
  • I used to LOVE Relax!! My DVD has not come, and I actually had them re-send it to me a few days ago. I am dying for the new stuff!!
  • Awesome - you're in.
  • Welcome!! Feel free to ask any questions as you get more into the program. I am sure you will love it!!
