  • I had the same question so I found this thread on a search.... I am getting in most of my reading (between the snarky and useless posts that make no attempt to answer the question) that after is optimal, but before is next-best? Have any of you ever read that before bed is a good time for protein as well? Curious...I work…
  • Thank you everyone! I have joined the group that Shorty recommended and have started reading some of their insight. I appreciate the clarification provided here!!
  • As usual, you come to my rescue... :)
  • Yes, Doctor, doctor, doctor. I don't *struggle* with depression, per se, but I do experience it, and also anxiety. I am on two medications and when I stop them I feel it creeping in. It is hard, but remember it is not real. Rationally, try to understand that your feelings are being controlled by something biochemical and…
  • There is a link that I found posted here (I don't have the URL to the thread, but I think I found it doing a search for Eat More Weigh Less...) to a site called fat2fit.com. You want to go to the tools/calculators, and it will help you get an idea of your body fat percentage (it uses numbers instead of water displacement,…
  • I am big boned, by definition, and I am not far from my goal weight. I am 5'5" tall, and when I have been at my goal weight of 148 lbs, I wear a size 6 (some 4s, some 8s...) Right now, 20 pounds over that weight, I am in a size 10. I weigh more than I look like I weigh. I always thought that was the outcome of being big…
  • I have asked a lot of LCHF questions too - there is a lot of information out there - I suggest you look into "carb cycling", either by searching it here or on Google. The way I understand it, "Cycling" is to LCHF diets like "Intervals" are to working out. I could try to regurgitate what I have read, but I know you will get…
  • I did an all-Buble set once!! I mean ALL.....it was for an older married couple that used to frequent my classes... :) I also love teaching Latin sets, and this Cardio-Kickboxing that they just started is fun, but can be redundant if you don't know what you are doing... :) Do your centers do birthday sets?
  • I used to wear a HRM, and I averaged about 640 in a regular class, about 725 in a circuit class. I am an instructor, so I talk through the whole thing....but I think that the 600 is about typical for someone who really puts the intensity into it. The best way to know is to use a HRM. :)
  • Jazzercise Instructor = the best job ever! Best of luck in your training! I have trained/mentored a few great instructors, so please feel free to ask me questions!
  • Take note of that bloated, sick feeling. Log every crappy feeling (both mental and physical) you are having in a journal, and then keep it in your kitchen and read it the next time you want to put something like that in your mouth. The immediate payoff is SO not worth the aftermath, but it is easy to forget when you are…
  • LOVE IT!!
  • 8-year instructor....I was hooked from my first class! Three years of attending before I certified. Biggest changes in my body...I used to HATE my ugly legs, now I rock leggings and mini skirts like it is my job! I have biggish thighs, but they are solid as rocks. Love my legs now! Also, lots of definition around my…
  • My dinners consist of either fish, chicken or steak with spinach or broccoli that has been sauteed in EVOO with garlic. My current fave thing to do with chicken breasts is to spread mayonnaise over the top and coat with grated parm....bake at 425 for about 18 minutes.. I also love broiled salmon and steak (or grilled in…
  • TJs is my primary grocery store - the prices there are better than the big stores on just about everything....it is a foodie's dream! Plan at least an hour and look at everything!
  • It is called "I Wanna Go!" ...lol
  • No PCOS here, but similar experience when I cut the carbs. LCHF is a breakthrough.
  • What is the name of that Britney song??????? I do not know it - I heard it on the radio and thought - I wonder if this is a routine? Weird coincidence that you posted it tonight!!!! A am currently in LOVE with Heart Skips a Beat....other recent favorites: Let's Go, Dedication to my Ex, and Feel So Close. Also love Girls…
  • To all of you who think that SAHMoms are living off of their husbands, or that the money is the driving force in a household, I implore you to consider....don't you think that it is infinitely important to raise intelligent, confident, well-adjusted, happy people? We lived for aeons without technology, electricity, phones,…
  • HA HA HA HA HA!!! Exactly!!
  • That is ancient! Still love it thought...
  • No I don't!! There is no rule that says we have to learn every single routine - I know instructors who avoid Jazz Squares like the plague, and one who won't teach any techno (THAT, I think, is just stupid). If I can't sell it, the students won't buy it. In my defense, I have a HUGE repertoire with a vast variety of styles.…
  • Ha ha! I don't drink any milk!! :) How much are we supposed to drink? I have never ever been told that before!! Sounds like you made the best of a bad situation (*****y doctor) - good for you. 20 pounds is a great accomplishment! And to OP, you took the first step, and often that one is the hardest. Keep focused, continue…
  • I totally skipped over Goin' In! I will check it out. I started off with about 10 new ones (including Bieber, which I love), and learned 4 more tonight. I also love Beautiful, which is kind of an underdog, but the routine is a real glute burner, so I like it as a BCO-M. (it is not BCO, but that is where I like it....) I…
  • ^This. I have been a SAHM for 6 years, we now have 2 kids, and even though it is the "toughest job I've ever loved," it is also the one I love the most. The things I see every day are beyond value. He likes getting out of the house every day, and our arrangement works just fine for us. We have one of the best marriages I…
  • Start with forgiving yourself and NEVER calling yourself names like "pathetic" again!!! Life happens, especially when you are in college. You are not pathetic....you are normal. It will come to you. In the mean time, try not to criticize yourself. It will only make you feel helpless and undermine your goals.
  • I am new to this, but my reading has told me that you need to net under 30 g of carbs a day to go into Keto. I am also doing a cycling plan with one carb night per week, and I workout (cardio and free weights, swimming) a minimum of 6 times per week. I also understand that you should not do both "low carb" AND "low fat,"…
  • My experience is with LCHF, and clean, but not Paleo... I had symptoms ranging anywhere from dizziness during and after workouts, weakness in my legs when going up stairs, and nausea (even threw up once). As I remember it, day three was the worst, and it tapered off within a week after that. Hang in there. Now I feel GREAT…
  • Yes, log it all, but take heart - healthy fats are necessary and important in your diet. Be selective about what oils you use (Olive, Canola, Coconut) so that you are getting the biggest nutritional bang for your calorie buck.
  • I had a feeling there would be some backlash on this post! I admit it, when I go out, or even at home on the weekends when my husband is home, we enjoy a couple of drinks. I don't have a lot of weight to lose, and I am a grow-up who can deal with the fact that weight loss, like life, is not a totally linear process. When I…
