Cooking with oils-Help!

If you cook with oils, do you count your oil calories?
Do any of the oil calories burn off in the pan?
I believe using some oils is good but I want to know if I should add the entire 120cal from that Tablespoon of oil I sauteed with to my diary. That's a lot of calories to miss! Not to mention fat and nutrients!
What does everyone else do?

It's my understanding that the oil is either absorbed by the food you are cooking or there will be leftover oil in the pan - I don't think the oil can "burn off." I always add the calorie content from the entire serving of oil unless there is some left behind in the pan that I did not eat and was not absorbed by the food.

add the whole tbsp to the food list.0

I logged the full amount when I was trying to lose because I'd rather overestimate than underestimate my calories. Now I'm trying to maintain so I'll take a portion out if I know that a significant amount was left in the pan/bowl/etc because if I eat too little and I'm working out 5x a week without trying to lose weight, I either start dropping weight or getting weak or cranky.0

Yes, log it all, but take heart - healthy fats are necessary and important in your diet. Be selective about what oils you use (Olive, Canola, Coconut) so that you are getting the biggest nutritional bang for your calorie buck.0

Thank you.
Ok, I plan to log each oil exactly so maybe I will see the nutrition value of each.0 -
Truthfully I don't think you should log oil, nor should you log most veggies! WHY - Because why punish yourself for eating healthy? Seeing calories in vegetables, fruit, good fatty oils, is just depressing! I think all carbs, meats and most fats should be logged but not the clean food we pride ourselves in eating.0

Most veggies are 100 calories or less a couple, while oil is around 100 per tablespoon, so it adds up quickly. I am a big supporter of logging everything, even veggies, and especially oil.0 -
I use the recipe tool a lot and always include the oil I cook with in the recipe. That way the fat and calories are counted per serving.0

"Clean" food has calories too. Not seeing the calories doesn't mean they aren't there and don't add up.0 -
I find you can do a lot with just a teaspoon of olive oil. Plus there are spray oils which have less cals and do the job if it's just an egg or some mushrooms you are frying. I would definitely count the oil, at 120 cals per tbsp it would be crazy not to.

I only use Black Truffle Oil with my massages0

I have only used olive now for years and if you invest in a good non-stick fry pan and an atomizer where you put your own oil in/pump it/than spray you will use so little oil and have all the same results and only have to count a fraction of the calories.0

I am 62kg, 174cm tall and don't log vegges unless I am bored! I have never logged oil and never will. I have done this for a long time, and it's obviously paying off? So no I am not 'Crazy', I dont even know What Dr Oz is nor do I condone over eating. I just dont think because an avocado has good fatty oils in it that it should be taboo to eat! Get lost, eat well, live a balanced life and you will see results more than someone starving themselves and feeling *kitten* when they eat 100 extra calories!0

Weightloss should be enjoyable, not a challenge 24/7. You shouldn't feel bad for eating an extra 100cal of green beans, or an extra 50 cal of baby spinach. Thats silly, I hate seeing people on hear worrying so much. If they stop worrying, weightloss will be that much easier.0
-
It's not a matter of "feeling bad." For many people, logging foods is a valuable tool for understanding and managing eating habits.
Hence the food diary component of this website.0 -

I do the same....0 -
Guess I better stop logging the 500 calories of veggies I eat every day.0
