TJ and Kevin--Glad to see some fellow Mitch Rapp fans! I'm looking forward to seeing where Kyle Mills takes it. My favorite book is Term Limits I think just because it was the first one I read and actually think Scott Coleman is the coolest character in the books. Like Kevin said, the audio books are spot on. I actually…

2 weeks of no grains no sugar. That was pretty easy. I want to just keep going. My social life suffers from this lifestyle however so I don't think it's sustainable for me. At least not at this point in my life. I am thinking Sunday-Thursday no grain no sugar then Friday and Saturday have whatever comes my way with a…

Doc said I can start moving my wrist around and stretching it out. Day 12 of no grains no sugar. At 172.6 as of this morning. Feel fine but I miss pizza.

Runtastic app on app store is free right now if you have an iPhone. I haven't used it yet but it looks like it's way better than Nike+ in terms of data and functionality. Android users can use this code: FREE-UBTP-XPTP and the app will be free for you too.

TJ--missed responding earlier. I'm doing full body. I take progress pics irregularly anyways so this just gets me on a schedule. Last night I uploaded them all to my PC and was looking...March 2014 I seem to be my lowest BF%. It was when I was doing SealFit. It's cool to see how each program I've done affects my body. I'll…

Chiming in on the runner's high...it's great. It cures all ails. Sometimes after a longer run I'll get home and feel ready to go again because of that after run revelry. As for sizing, I run into that sometimes. It's all brand specific and whether or not it's a slim fit or traditional. Places like Express run super small…

Kevin, do you do any body weight stuff to maintain?
-
Down from 181 January 1 to 173.2. That's the power of water weight. I've also been taking pictures daily and you want to know what the difference is in 8lbs of water weight? Nothing. Nothing at all.

Top diets of 2015. Paleo and raw food diet ranked near the bottom. What are your thoughts?

Hey guys was doing some surfing online and found a kickstarter that I thought was interesting. Here's the link. It's a band that you wear on your wrist (like the LiveStrong ones) and you flip it after you have accomplished your goal. It's pretty cool. The guy said that he originally just put a rubber band on his right…

Still more snow that street out there with more on it's way for Wednesday. I think the treadmill cleaning kit will be here soon so I can try to move that sucker indoors and get some miles in. Day 5 no sugar no grains, and I feel fine. Had one craving which I ate some raisins to get over. That was the evening of day 3. It's…

Love to see all the IFers chiming in. Fasting Friday is a great idea. I'm doing 1-9 eating window currently though sometimes it gets move to 2-930 depending on when I get away for lunch. I haven't been training in the mornings so I'm not training fasted but training fasted is seriously one of my favorite feelings. I don't…

John, that's a classy way to break your fast! I took in some chicken, broccoli and sweet potatoes for mine today. Haven't worked out in a couple days due to weather, but I did shovel a bunch of snow for about 45 minutes so I'll count that because I'm beat. Day 3 of no sugar no carbs. It's going great and easier than I…

Doing 2 weeks of no sugar no grains. Day one was successful. I really just ate whatever I wanted that didn't have those two ingredients. So I had my black-eyed peas and a little bit of ham. Been too cold to do much of anything physical and we're supposed to get more snow tonight. Carol, I used to hate black coffee but 2…

Kim, I take 10g BCAAs before a (fasted) workout and after every workout. Sometimes I take it first thing in the morning as well if I'm really feeling it. I take a multivitamin (cheapest one I can find as the doctor ordered) and 2000mg EPA and 1000mg DHA. Also creatine monohydrate every morning.

I haven't formally written anything down yet. Here's a few off the cuff:* Running:* Sub 2h half-marathon * Sub 21m 5k * Sub 6m mile * Nutrition:* Set monthly eating goals * Eat one green vegetable with every meal * Eat a home cooked meal 5 days a week * Find the best diet to maximize my running gains * Personal:* Max out…

Unbroken was an amazing movie. I recommend. Takeaways: * Remaining calm under stress * Be resourceful * Surround yourself with people who believe in you * Forgive “If you can take it, you can make it.” -Pete Zamperini “A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory.” -Pete Zamperini Did a crossfit workout yesterday instead…

Snow on the ground. Treadmill cleaning kit shipped today so I'm still without. I want to go see that movie Unbroken, but I'm worried if I watch it without an outlet to run after I will freak out.

Kim & Kris -- I've heard some great things about 5x5 from friends who've tried it. Another one is Starting Strength. Both are really great beginning programs. For DOMS I used to take BCAAs to help recover. You can get them online. It might be all in your head, but I always felt like my DOMS were less because of them.

Tough love TJ, but I feel ya. It was cold again. And it's going to be cold tomorrow. All week really. 60% chance for snow...bleh. 8:05 8:41 8:47 8:54 34:32 8:37/mile I wasn't feeling it. I rarely am on Monday. The cold doesn't help, but I know dedicated runners do cold weather. I need to learn how to overcome it. I added a…

FYI there is a up-to 90% off sale at theclymb.com. Has some really cool fitness stuff if you can find your size it's a great deal!

Also to answer your other question John, I don't do sprint training right now because my goals aren't to increase my times. I'm purely training for lengthening my distance out to 13-14 miles so I have a base to work with. I'll incorporate sprints when I work on my speed. That being said, I do intervals and fartleks so I do…

John, I don't wrap as it doesn't really help. The disease I have is caused by the tendon in my knee between my knee cap and tibia being too short which causes the tibia bone to grow outwards. It gets really inflamed from repetition use such as running. I have actually been in a lot of pain since yesterday and have been…

I would be interested in the May one. October is the race I want to do so I will be concentrated on that

Unfortunately I can't find any pictures of my cat...I'll have to get one to join in on the fun! 8 miles--longest run thus far Felt great. I'll share the elevation changes too that Nike+ records. It's not entirely accurate because it doesn't account for up and down within a mile just total elevation change. 7:59 +30ft 8:47…

Missed a couple days there. Christmas Eve I hit 3 miles: 7:56 8:50 8:16 25:04 8:21/mile I wasn't feeling it. I also had just chowed down on some sweet stuff my work gave me before we left for the day. It wasn't pretty. Either way I need to get back on my game. Today I have another 3 miles then tomorrow I have 8. In…

3 miler to start my week 8:05 8:00 (-0:05) 7:07 (-0:53) 23:12 7:44/mile (treadmill) Need to drink more water. Opted to eat before I go out for board games tonight a friends house. I chalk that up to a win (as opposed to pizza). Have a good night!

Just heard the announcers talking during the Cowboys game say that Demarco Murray drinks 24 bottles of water 24 hours before a game! So much water! Keep chugging away...I'm going to go drink a bottle right now.

Checking in before I forget. GO BEARS (it's a rest day).

6 mile RX today 8:05 8:42 9:03 uphill 8:32 downhill 8:38 8:07 Goal was under 50:00. Came in at 51:12 8:32/mile. I have some work to do! Mile 2-3-4-5 all had a lot of incline/decline in it. I really like to run uphill, but I really don't enjoy downhill. I know that sounds wrong but the adrenaline I get from running up a…
