  • Been MIA for a while. On week 4 of marathon training though. Diet has been a bit whacky due to high calorie needs, but I'm doing my best to keep it in check. Been paying attention to fiber lately so I added a serving of flax seeds. A little insoluable fiber goes a long way.
  • Carol, no by CNS I meant central nervous system...sorry for the acronym mix-up! I'm still doing IF, no sugar no carbs. I do a couple meals on the weekend where I indulge. I've dropped from 181 in January down to ~168. Lightest I've been since I was in high school. Even better is I feel good and never feel like I'm…
  • 2.5 miles. Just ran around...I don't really even know what my splits were. Had a rough past few days at work. I decided to leave 20 minutes early so I could get in a run. I feel a lot better now. Best medicine I know! Back to the grindstone.
  • Hahaha Kevin, I was scrolling through, saw you got a new rowing machine and started wondering if it was a concept 2 or not...didn't even cross my mind that you were talking about a boat! HA!
  • TJ I didn't know that! They usually don't cook all the way through for me when they are whole anyways. I don't like them boiled or steamed either...only baked, roasted, or sauteed. I bet they would be good on the grill too... Jennifer tell me what you think! I try to make them once a week (which stretches for a few meals…
  • Did short interval today. :90 on :60 off. Goal was to keep it at least 400m every time...didn't meet that goal. I fell off around the 4th round. It was a brutal workout. Short intervals are so brutal. I feel great though. Hopefully it'll help me sleep tonight since I've got to be up early. Was going to hit 5x5 after but I…
  • Butternut Squash Bison Chili. I used ground elk and turkey instead of Bison. I also added 15oz of pinto and 15oz of red beans. It's delicious and full of veggies. I also make brussel sprouts on the regular. I take fresh brussel sprouts, wash them, halve or quarter them (they cook better and taste better this way), coat…
  • John that's a pretty cool setup. I want to get a power rack, but I haven't found one on Craigslist that's reasonable. I've thought about just getting a Rogue but don't NEED one right now. I have 160lb in bumper plates that I use when squatting so I can just bail if I need to. Practice bailing with lighter weight if you go…
  • Did 100lb squat, 45lb ohp, 155lb deadlift. Squat still feels really light. Deadlift felt nice...I really missed those. Overhead is my weakest movement so hoping to get that up. Last 1RM I did for that was only 135lbs. John I would be interested in seeing some pictures of your home gym sometime! I've got mine pretty rounded…
  • 3.51 miles today 7:46 7:43 7:42 last half mile was 7:49 pace 27:21 total 7:46/mi Kim--(luckily) I'm coming off an injury so I am a little apprehensive to go heavy anyways. Did 95lb squat, 85lb bench, 65lb bent over row. They all felt really light. I'm not sure what my 1RM or 5RM is anyways so starting low and 5lb…
  • John! Stay strong and good job on being tobacco free! Proud of you, it's not easy. Ran 8:00 on 3:00 off. Goal was sub 8:00 miles. Times were: 6:58 7:13 7:31 7:54 7:47 Total track time was 59 minutes so 40:00 of running and the rest was walking. I think it ended up being 6.3 miles or so. Since I've started hitting track…
  • Heron, I don't track my measurements anymore just because I could never remember where I wrote them down... Ran 1000m today. 7 rounds with 3:00 rests. They are hard because its just an odd distance that you're not used to measuring in so pacing was interesting. Kept trying to pace for an 800 but would get a little tired.…
  • Ran 1000s today. They suck! We did 7 of them so like 4 miles or so? Idk it puts me above 30 though! 32.5 to be exact. BOOM TAKE THAT JANUARY! Good job everyone!
  • Kris, hope everything turns out okay! Glad to hear you're still Diet Coke free!!!
  • Heron, I will try that! THAT WEBSITE HAS SO MUCH! I just sort of glanced through it, and I can't wait to delve in (after I eat...). I've been taking a thick rubber band and using my five fingers to stretch out and do isometric holds and just kind of work it out. If nothing else it's a great fidgety thing I can do while in…
  • Full on fasted today. Not on purpose, but I got busy and didn't take a lunch. Today's workout was supposed to be 7:00 on and 4:00 off. I thought that was boring so instead I did 5 rounds of 11:00 minutes. Run 1 mile within 11:00 minutes and use the rest of the time as a rest. At the 11:00 minute mark restart the timer and…
  • Carol, I unfortunately can't make that. I have bowling that night! 5 miles today 28.5! AND IT'S GOING TO SNOW AGAIN. So, I might be running in the snow on Friday or Saturday :)
  • Ran 400s today... 82 83 82 84 85 85 84 85 84 85 2.25 miles in intervals then we walked one for rest after each one. Ran an 800 for cool down in 4:30. I was happy with today. We were ready to quit at 8, but I said if we run the 8th one and it's over our last one by 2 seconds we will quit. It was under 1 second for me and…
  • Heron, Fun fact: I'm terrified of heights. This was the first time since Boy Scouts (13 years ago?) so I'll count it as my first time. Since I knew going in that I have a problem with heights my game plan was to just climb up an easy one and just let go. It helped I was with a friend that I trusted. Auto belays are scary…
  • Did 2 miles on Saturday and did 5 today so 23.5...almost there!
  • Heron, that's exactly what I did. My friend was yelling at me to use my legs, but I kept on losing focus on that part and just trying to get up. I want to do more. I was pretty comfortable on 8s and I think I could hit a 9 if I was fresh. Then again, do I really need another hobby? :) Yes. Yes I do.
  • Went rock climbing in Albuquerque this weekend. Had a blast! Wish I had a gym near me. It was a great workout too. My forearms are toasted...
  • So much for running...8 inches of snow. COME ON NEW MEXICO! Anyway, diet is solid. Stay strong!
  • 4.44 (I'll round to 4.5) today so 16.5 miles. It's going to be close...
  • Mark, very envious right now. That sounds like so much fun! How often do you get out and hit the mountain? Did 4.44 miles today on the road 8:12 8:21 8:26 8:20 last leg was a little faster .44 miles at 8:05 pace 36:53 total 8:18/mi Looking forward to short intervals tomorrow. Been eating same ol' same ol'. Chicken,…
  • ~5.25 miles today... I didn't keep track. I actually had a running buddy! Track work 7:00 on 4:00 off. We were hitting a little over 3 laps each 7:00 so I think we were pacing between 8:00-8:30. Did a total of 1:06:00 on the track. He's a former HS runner so I'm looking forward to learning a lot from him. He wants to get…
  • 5 miles today on the track 12 total
  • John, you look like you're ready to move some heavy things! Reminds me of one of my favorite sayings: If you want to get stronger, pick up heavy things and move them. I've never had organ meat before. I will have to try it. I think you're right though. I might need to do some research and possibly find a new doctor. I only…
  • Going to try and catch up... 4 miles yesterday, 3 today. I'm at 7 now. Maybe I can convince the girl to go on a walk with me before the Colts game.
  • Got back out there today! It was beautiful! Did an easy 4 miles: 7:52 8:32 9:13 9:14 Ended up running a little longer so 4.12 miles 36:02 8:44/mile I was working on going slow but that first mile I flew... I realize today that I over stride when I get tired. I worked on keeping mid foot strikes and my strides manageable. I…
