  • And just scheduled my appt for bloodwork with my regular PCP for 6/24! I will get the blood work done and then see the Dr to get my clearance signed off on! : - )
  • Honestly, and I mean no offense at all, but it doesn't sound like you have very good friends if they are being like that to you!! Friends, true friends, and the people that love us unconditionally, will help us, support us, and love us, even if they do not agree or understand our choices.
  • Appointment went great today!! Today was day 1 of my Dr supervised diet! Dr agreed on the Sleeve for me, and also gave me a list of things to do before we submit to insurance. I have to get blood work done, signed off by my PCP, Pulmonologist (sleep apnea), and of course the Nut and Psych. The Dr did give me a list of…
  • Great job!!!
  • I lost weight several years ago after delivering my surrogate twins. I worked out and ate healthy and got down to 147. That was my lowest weight since before I had my three kids! But yet, even though I could wear a size 8/10, I would still look in the mirror and see a "fat" person. Honestly, I am really not sure if it ever…
  • WOW!! That is awesome and incredible! I can only hope for similar results! : - )
  • WOW!! Thank you all for sharing your weight loss with me! I really appreciate it! I saw my PCP this morning and restarted the monthly weight loss/diet process with her. I am going to the new Dr's information session this evening as well, and am hoping to really get things moving!!!
  • Patti, Thank you for that info! I was just talking to a friend today at work about how much I drink water, and can literally guzzle a 16 to 20 oz bottle of water! I am going to practice not drinking at the same time as eating, and doing the small sips. I am fine with drinking water - do it 80% of the time now, so that will…
  • I am not really sure I want to ask, but can you explain this "frothing" that you mention: "im 4 months out and on solids and i keep a tea towel next to me when i eat in case my pouch throws a strop and i get the frothies one day something will go down fine and the next day 2 bites in and my pouch objects " It sounds, well,…
  • Laura, My BMI at the moment is 39....5 more lbs and I will hit the 40 BMI and not need any of the co-morbidity requirements. I have Aetna for my insurance. Has anyone done this with Aetna?
  • Thank you all for the information!! I appreciate it. I don't want to start my diet until I see the DR and get my starting weight noted. What is involved with passing the Psychologist appointment?
  • I want to lose weight on the diet, but at the same time I do not want to lose too much that it will preclude me from getting the surgery! How did your insurance determine the three months? May I ask what insurance you have? I am sorry you are hungry! I heard about the liquid diet for two weeks before surgery! That is…
  • Yes, that was my concern as well! That is a lot of money to just "lose"....and the new Dr's coordinator said she has a guy that was going to the TGH program, paid the $750, and two years later is still waiting to be approved! All of my visits - Dr, dietician, psychologist - all covered on my insurance, so I only pay a $25…

  • Kate, The $750 was just for the Wellness Assessment - in which I would meet with 4 doctors (not the surgeon doing the surgery), to get the psych, diet, exercise, etc. THEN, I would make an appt to see the surgeon. Was way too iffy to me!

  • Thank you all for your input! According to the Information Seminar I went to today, the doctor recommends 2-6 weeks recovery time. I was told that they would write the note for 6 weeks, but would release me when I felt ok to go back to work. I do not have a physically demanding job, and do have the opportunity to work from…
  • Thank you very much for the words of wisdom. I realize that this will not be an end all fix all, but just a reset period to get me back to where I should be. I go to the information session tomorrow and will start from there. I cannot work out right now due to severe plantar faciitis. I love lifting weights and may be able…
  • I am very happy for you to have a definite date!! I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that the next few weeks fly by for you!
  • Thank you all for the great information!! Although I still do not want to do the 6 month diet thing (If I could diet and lose weight in 6 months I wouldn't need the surgery!) I hope the Dr will do the other 3 month option that my insurance offers! Can you tell me if you had to pay your portion that insurance does not cover…
  • WOW!! You all are so amazing and give me hope!!! My Dr thinks I meet all of the co-morbidity requirements, so I am hoping there are no delays. I am going to hate the either 3 or 6 months diet portion because I really want to get this done NOW. I am a huge sweets eater, and I know that I will not be able to do that again in…
  • Anyone?? No responses at all? I was hoping someone could chime in!
  • Hi - I am thinking about getting the gastric bypass and would love to know more about it! Can you tell me if everyone has to do the 6 month diet before surgery? (If I could do that I would not need surgery!)
  • WOW.....thank you! maybe now I do not feel so bad! According to that web site I can still eat a little over 2000 calories a day and still lose weight!
  • Ronda, If only the turkey was what was bad! LOL It was the Worlds Finest Chocolate bar and the Reese's big cups that were not the greatest! And those were on top of my already logged "diet" foods. Boy that sandwich was really good!
  • I try to "burn" the extra calories as well, but did not make it to the gym today. I have also stopped drinking soda, as I would rather eat my calories than drink them! I can burn 400 calories in 45 min on the elliptical, but my trainer has asked me NOT to use those extra exercise calories toward my food. He wants me to…
  • I am sure you are correct - even though I was "bad" I still logged everything, and I know I have eaten FAR worse in the past when I wasn't tracking my food!! It is just so frustrating because I want to lose the weight SO much! I hate the way I look in the mirror and in my clothing. The 8 lbs I have lost are only a small…
  • Thank you to everyone who has responded. I will try to answer comments! My trainer at the gym put me on the 1250 calorie diet, although my best friend thinks its way too low. Unfortunately I did NOT exercise today because I have a sore throat and am afraid I am coming down with something. I try to do my cardio at least 5…
  • Hi all!! My name is Mary! Please feel free to add me as well! I am located in Wesley Chapel, FL. Always looking for accountability buddies. I an 45 (almost 46), need to lose at least 75 lbs. I have high blood pressure, bad knees, sleep apnea, and heart disease runs in my family. I have three teenage boys that need their…
