Oh, good grief! Celery is used in Western medicine as a way to lower blood pressure. It has nutrients in it, crazy woman! Enjoy it & don't worry about it. If it takes 3,500 extra calories to gain a POUND, you would need to eat enough celery to puke to gain an ounce!

I strongly agree with the HIIT and weight training, plus lots of water. I just started ChaLEAN Extreme this week and am loving it; you will change your body if you learn to lift weights in the correct way. HIIT -- high intensity interval training -- is the only way to do cardio; Google it. I am also hypothyroid and have…

75 incline pushups?! Do people ever wonder why you take so long to go to the bathroom?

No, but I would SWEAR merlot counts as a "fruit"!

Welcome to MFP! This is a very encouraging, friendly & inspiring place to be. I've been here since November, and it really, really helps. With very few exceptions, it's a positive environment. I'll friend request you.

Are you a guy? That would be a factor. And if you are, 1,200 calories is not going to cut it! If you add in strength training, you definitely need to add calories, especially more protein. Good luck!

I agree with the post before me; slower is DEFINITELY better and long-lasting. If you don't have a sustainable eating plan, you don't have a plan. That's what happened to me the first time I lost weight. Now I'm eating in a way I can sustain for life. It's much better for your heart not to yo-yo, also. Good luck!

I have that problem, too -- I had three babies in four years and have a pot belly to prove it. I've heard that Pilates is very good for tummies; it's vital that you be sure to pull your navel in when you are doing lifts, planks, etc., so you don't build your abdominal muscles out. There's a series of good videos out there…

Doesn't this kind of stuff drive you nuts?! :grumble: UGH -- fruits do have a natural sugar in them, BUT -- they also have high fiber, high water content, and all kinds of great nutritional stuff that nature put in there that man cannot recreate in a pill. They are the absolute best "candy" to have any day of the week!…

holy crap! that is seriously impressive! Congrats to you & keep up the good work.

WAIT. The TOM gain can drive you nuts. Then again, so can keeping track of weight!

Just to be balanced, TRY a sample before you buy; I personally find protein shakes disgusting, even the whey ones. I've found one or two that are not awful, but it's definitely a personal taste kind of thing. Jonny Bowden likes whey; I consider him a solid source on nutrition. Happy drinking!:drinker:

I have a suggestion; don't know if it will work for any of you, BUT (or should I say "butt"?) -- if you can bring in a fitness ball and use that to sit on instead of a chair, I've read in fitness mags that it forces you to use your abs, glutes and hamstrings/quads to balance. Maybe that could help de-spread your derriere?…

Okay, if those pics are you, you do NOT need to lose weight!!! Just maintain and chalk it up to TOM. Mother Nature can be a "mother" sometimes!

Welcome! This is a very motivating forum. You'll love it. Good luck.

Well, I hate to tell you this, but if your picture is current, you look great! Welcome to the forum, this is a very inspirational place to be.

Welcome! This is a very positive, motivating and inspiring place to be. Fee free to friend me, and good luck!

Welcome! You can do it!

Well, girls, I am 45, and it is DEFINITELY harder the older you get! I just started ChaLEAN Extreme today; it focuses on lifting heavy weights. The funny thing is, I went from a size 16 to a 7/8 about 10 years ago, and weightlifting was a big reason why. I gained 20 lbs. back quickly when I signed up for a 100-mile bike…

If you have kids, get a Wii. Don't know about PS3. Good luck!

First of all, I'm so sorry! What the h*#% is it with Moms & mean comments? My mother once commented to me that "You never love anybody like you love your first child." Um, Mom -- I'm your SECOND CHILD! :noway: My Mom has been wonderful in many ways, but that was not one of them.:grumble: At any rate -- 1,000 calories is…

Thanks, everybody! I do have a HRM already, so I'll try to track it on that. Otherwise, I think I'm just going to enter it under strength training.
-
Congrats and enjoy!

So what happened? Did you continue with it? I ordered this and expect to get it in the mail next week. Any pointers or tips?

Well, not to be a rabble-rouser here, BUT . . . I do my cardio first and then weights; when I start out with weights first, I tend to pull muscles. It may just be me, but if I'm not seriously warmed up (at least 15 minutes for me), my muscles are cold and I get injured. I am a big believer, like the first guy said,…

There have been a number of threads on this; search for AZDAK and I think you'll find a very, very good explanation of why you need to eat all of the calories MFP gives you on days you exercise hard. Try to get as close as you can and don't worry about it.

Why in the world do you want to be that skinny? That sounds too skinny to me. You are tall, you should look good at 127 lbs. Do you lift weights? If you are not happy at 127, maybe add weight lifting to add some muscle & shape? 1,200 calories is starving yourself. You have to feed all of your organs, including your brain.…

For some people, eating out is a way of life. Telling her to "make your own meals" might sound like a good suggestion, but for some people it's just not going to happen. If you can make better choices eating out, like grilled chicken, steamed veggies, etc, that would be an improvement. Also, if I know I'm having a really…

I eat veggies almost every time I eat something. That really helps. Adds in a good bit of vitamins, too. Like this thread.

I'm all for getting ready for bed, brushing my teeth, and then if I feel the urge to splurge, I make hot spicy tea. It really helps. That, and just the determination that my eating day is "over." Finishing logging on MFP really helps, too.
