make homemade frozen yogurt with cherries and dark chocolate chunks. healthier than ice cream, and tastes amazing. the recipe below is just standard frogurt. add chopped, pitted cherries at the end right before it's fully frozen. substitute stevia for even lower calorie! 3 cups (720g) strained yogurt (see below) or…

I'm curious as to how many calories you burn in a shift waiting tables. I hope it's a lot.

I looooove microbrews, so I've decided to occasionally ride my bike to the bar, have a beer or two, then ride it back home (after I feel reasonable sober). I think a 6 mile round trip bike ride makes a few pleasurable empty calories excusable.

I'm just under 5'2 and I'd love to be 120 lb again. I looked pretty good in high school at about 115, then I put on about 7 lb of pure muscle as a competitive fencer. Let's just say I looked pretty alright at that point. :blushing: Once I hit college, I had stopped working out but was still eating right, and I was just…

In all seriousness: maybe get a kettlebell. go on youtube. there's some great workouts for kettlebell in there and it's a full body workout. also, a lot of places offer beginning kettlebell classes to get the technique down. i've known some people to get FIT using kettlebells alone. In no seriousness: after all the shake…

BWAAAHAHAH! I mean this in the most complimentary way possible.... if you can get your arms toned that way, then you are very busy, and have a very happy (or sore) workout partner. You made me laugh out loud. I was studying for a calculus test, but this has lightened my mood.

mrs dash salt free seasonings are excellent for adding a kick to your foods that would otherwise be bland without salt. also, a squeeze of lemon juice is a good salt substitute on some items. on salads i'll often sprinkle a little celery salt or garlic salt instead of regular salt, because it adds more flavor, so i use…

you can add a ton of raw vegetables to just about anything for very, very few calories. like last night, I had a broiled tilapia fillet (4oz, approx 100cal), which I flaked into pieces, then put into two corn tortillas (at 55cal each), and added a squeeze of lemon, a spoonful of salsa and a bunch of shredded red cabbage…

Well, heck, if you can do that, I can lose 20 lbs! Congratulations, you look wonderful!

It can be really stressful being invited to an event where you know you'll be tempted to over-eat. I've been really good recently, but I got invited to a cocktail party with some friends I rarely see, so I decided to plan on what I need to do in order to make tonight something other than a fitness disaster. This is my plan…

I've heard people say this. I'm curious as to how. Could you link something, or just summarize. Thanks!

I JUST discovered these the other day and I'm now obsessed with them. I was at an outdoor concert (Flaming Lips, WOOOO) and it was soooo hot and crowded and muggy and sweaty and I thought, "I HAVE to have ice cream after this." I went to the store on the way home and they had these Dryer's yogurt blends in individual…

i agree completely. sometimes i feel like i'm the only (health-food conscious) person in the world who can't stand splenda. you understand. i'm even worse in that i can't even handle any of the artificial sweetners (equal, sweet n low, etc). xylitol is okay. try xylitol? it's not as... fake-tasting, i guess.

WOO! that's a treat, right there. it's so nice to find a drink that's not killer on the calories. plus it's full of antioxidants. I also love lime flavored sparkling water. i squeeze a lemon wedge in to make it extra tangy. it ends up being almost 1 cal after the lemon. :D

this sounds excellent! i'm gonna go buy some tomatoes :)

a lot of people will try to convince you that you don't need anti depressants. unfortunately it seems that many people don't view anxiety and depression as being as serious as they are. keep on keepin on! suddenly quitting an anti-depressant can cause some serious (mostly emotional) side effects as your body adjusts to the…

throw some chopped up fruit or honey in there and freeze it into little popsicles in a popsicle mold. you'll feel like you're eating ice cream. also, since it's pre-measured, it's easier to control yourself. and it'll last past the expiration date when it's frozen. i'm in houston, so i'm always thinkin about cold treats. i…

did a search for ya: http://www.savor-the-rhubarb.com/healthier-rhubarb-recipe.html they've got a bunch of ideas.

Rhubarb sorbet for 116 cal per serving. http://www.recipezaar.com/recipe/Rhubarb-Sorbet-92541 Sure, it's sorbet, so it's not low in sugar, but it's a good treat with basically no fat at all. For a dessert, I'd say that's pretty good. I had a rhubarb mint sorbet at a farmers market in Chicago that was AMAZING. Put some mint…

when i was on 20 mg prozac i lost some weight because i wasn't comfort eating as much. not sure.... ask your doctor. that's my advice.

Also, BC powder (the headache medicine), mixed with honey to form a paste works great as a mask once a week for about 10 minutes. smear it on, wait, rinse it off. if you're allergic to aspirin, caffeine, or honey, don't use this (durh, right). also, if you're pregnant or breastfeedng or have asthma or a bleeding problem,…

I've lived in the Houston area my entire life. Here's a rundown: - It's a very international city (especially in the main part of the city, not the burbs). Lots of ethnic food restaurants (TONS of awesome Mexican food, Indian, Vietnamese, Greek, Thai, etc). People have less noticeable accents here than in other parts of…

Put some toasted pecans in there too. *drool* It gives it a nice variation of texture, plus some healthy fats.

Nice! Congrats! You lost the equivalent of a very small person :) Fabulous achievement and keep up the good work!

when you eat big salads, are you sure you're counting the dressing properly? Most dressings will add a couple hundred calories, easy. it's not too hard to eat a thousand-calorie salad if you're not careful with the amount of dressing and grilled chicken and croutons you put on top.

and yes, i did have frozen yogurt and popcorn for dinner. i just realized how odd that is.

I have one tattoo - a classic, English-style teapot on my side with the words "Don't Panic" underneath. It's an ode to Douglas Adams (writer of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, etc). I want another sooooooo bad. It's been about 3 years. That's long enough, right?

Think of somewhere you'd like to be. Now narrow that list down to things within a five mile radius. Go there on a bike. It's pretty fun. I'll ride a bike to a bar, and since I rode there and back (thus burning a bumload of calories), I can have a drink or two!

as soon as anything sweetened with any kind of artificial sweetener passes my lips it's like alarm bells go off in my head screaming "THIS TASTES FAKE AND WEIRD AND WRONG AND IF YOU KEEP EATING IT YOU'LL DIE!!!!!!!!" i'd rather have things that are completely unsweetened than sweetened with splenda, sweet n low, etc
