This is not consistent with sources I've read regarding MCT. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/issa23.htm Coconut oil is also not pure MCT oil. It is roughly 55% MCT, and also has a lot of saturated fat. There is no need to replace it with another fat.

Regarding the fatigue and aching muscles. In low carb, you need to supplement key minerals. You need to add sodium, potassium, and magnesium. If you have some chicken broth (or bouillon to make broth) have a cup of that. Start using Lite Salt with potassium. And look for a good magnesium supplement (I use slo-mag). 20 g of…

You can so do this! I am 40 and started crossfit at 231 pounds. Everything can be scaled. My box offered a 6 week fundamentals class - which I took twice. Definitely look for a free trial class. If you have a couple of nearby options try them all to see if one is a better fit than others (my box is definitely skewed older…

This was from a few weeks ago. I found it very helpful: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/931670-bmr-and-tdee-explained-for-those-needing-a-guide I use sedentary for my settings - that way I can still add back in exercise for those days that I'm working out. Otherwise, you don't add exercise calories back in.

My grocery store used to have them with chips and snacks. Now they are in the Mexican ethnic food area. If you have a Mexican market nearby, they'd probably have them, even cheaper.

What's your source for this statement? This doesn't sound right.

You want to look for dairy from grass-fed cows, also known as pastured cows. Kerrygold is one of those. There are others out there, but I think Kerrygold is the best known. Dairy from grass-fed cows have higher levels of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Also contains something called CLA, which has benefits in fighting cancer. Article…

It's not about organic or non-organic. The original Bulletproof Coffee recipe emphasized the importance of Mycotoxin-free coffee. mycotoxins are a naturally occurring toxin that can occur in the production of coffee (and many other foods). The premise is at if you use Mytotoxins-free coffee, you will see improved health…

I follow a ketogenic diet. Very low carb - usually 20-30 net carbs a day. The food is very satisfying, which makes it easy for me to follow. The reduced fat Kerrygold should not be used. If not Kerrygold in the silver foil package, look for any unsalted butter from grassfed or pastured cows. I don't think you'll find the coffee in your standard grocery stores. the guy that invented the whole BPC, sells a mycotoxin-free coffee on his website. We've made it both…

But this is incorrect. Please don't propagate bad information. Tell them you don't know, but don't give incorrect info that it isn't good for diabetics. I had a co-worker who is diabetic ask me about keto. , I gave him info, and plenty of resources to research, and suggested he discuss with his doctor. 3 months later and…

Hi Jasmine - I had vacation back in January, and went off during that time. I think key is getting back to the hardcore roots. I want back to carrying bacon and almonds with me so when those cravings hit, I had a keto safe items available. I also like to watch Fathead every 3 months, just to re-indoctrinate myself on how /…

Could be days or weeks. Speed it up by eating lower carbs and skipping the higher carb meal. Also some heavy exercise to deplete glycogen stores People are different though. Some people have no issues getting there with 50 g / day. Others will struggle.

Is she really willing to listen? Or is she committed to her beliefs, and nothing will change them? If she is actually willing to listen and learn, Fathead is probably the easiest intro. Why We Get Fat, and What to Do About it (Taubes) if more open. Even Taubes "What if it's all been a big fat lie" is a good read (although…

go here: http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/ At the top of the page, you'll see "keto in a nutshell" and "please read the FAQ" Read both of these. Plenty of links in these also to additional reading materials if you want more info from there.

The Ketostix should be able o tell you if you are in ketosis or not. You don't want to use them to tell you how deeply in ketosis you are. Are you showing trace at all, or nothing? Have the Ketostix been stored properly? Fairly new? (I once left my bottle open in the humid bathroom, and I think I ruined the bottle). OK. I…

Since this is back on the top of the forum... If you can portion it out into containers, this works great for travel. You never have to worry about a "safe" keto / low carb breakfast. My husband and I are going away for the weekend, and are taking 4 little packs of the butter, oil, cocoa all pre-mixed. We we can just add…

Goals aren't public. Perhaps you could just post what you've entered since we can't see.

Low carb is pretty vague and covers a wide range. For some it's Atkins style induction, with 20 g of carbs per day. I follow with Keto, which is similar - but keto is Low Carb, High Fat, Moderate protein. So keto has macros of 65% Fat - 30% Protein - 5% Carbs (5% carbs is still around 20g net carbs for me). Others are just…

He identifies that the timeframe isn't really long enough to affect the various hormones involved in the physiological response to dieting. He's also specific that your free meal shouldn't be at an all-day buffet. Needs to be a regular meal. Doesn't need to focus on whole grains or simple sugars. You just get to eat what…

So we actually tried it this last weekend. Had my "free meals" Friday night and Sunday night. Saturday morning was a big workout, so I suspect that everything was burned through that I consumed Friday. I then had a workout Monday night. I was back in ketosis by Tuesday morning (measured 0.9 using blood ketone tester). I…

I am 5'5". My current weight is 186, with 38% body fat. So I have 115 pounds lean body mass that I'd like to maintain. One calculator I used identified that I need to maintain 14 pounds of essential body fat. So that takes me to 129 pounds. So I think my goal would then be anywhere from 129 - 139. It all depends on how I…

It could throw you out of ketosis. A lot of factors - like exercise, and how clean you've been otherwise - could come into play. I'd be just as concerned that you'd get a strong insulin response and cravings by eating this. That's the real secret to why low carb works so well: is that it does a good job controlling…

On keto, there is no such thing as too much fat. You probably think I'm kidding. I'm not. Keto is low carb, HIGH FAT, moderate protein. Set your base level of carbs. Figure out your necessary protein The rest is fat. Base keto is 60% fat-35% protein-5% carbs (although I've also seen 65-30-5). Many of us target to consume…

What a sad, pathetic individual to dedicate so much of her time to discouraging others from their chosen fitness path. Seriously, how empty must your life be to spend this much time and effort on something that is not your business.
