Reddit may be a better place to research this. Here are various threads that discuss this - http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/search?q=hypoglycemia&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all (and you should discuss with your doctor)

You've got the solution right - but not quite what the issue is. From "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" Low carb diets are natriuretic - they make the kidneys dump sodium. Sodium deficiency can cause headache, dizziness and fatigue. With continued low carb intake and sodium restriction, at some point your…

Buy "The Fat Fast Cookbook" by Dana Carpender. There's no need to restrict yourself to cream cheese and Mac nuts.

I use it. Sweeteners are definitely a personal preference. If you see a stall, they are something that you may want to adjust.

You're looking great! Nice selection of foods. No bars or low carb tortillas that sometimes cause stalls. I thought your ratios looked excellent as well. I'll pretend that I didn't see those tortilla chips.

Isn't that awesome! I love seeing erythritol in more mainstream items (instead of that horrible Malitol). Erythritol is my go-to sweetener. I'll have to pick some of that sugar free syrup up.

I think I'll go with Phinney and Volek's research on this instead. I've been doing very low carb for nearly 18 months. Being keto adapted feels great, and I'm the healthiest I've ever been. For those of us that are sensitive to carbs, we will likely always need to moderate our intake.

Here are my preferences for sweeteners to use with coffee from best to worst - Note that these aren't necessarily my picks for sweeteners in baking. Sweeteners really are a personal taste thing. Excellent Truvia - this is an erythritol / stevia blend. I don't notice an aftertaste. (A friend of mine tried it and found it…

Hi Hon - I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but here's some feedback. I took a look at your diary. Be cautious about low carb tortillas. They work for some people, and for others they cause stalls. They may be a better item for maintenance than for weight loss. (And your check wings from yesterday have an error…

I follow a low carb plan, so don't use sugar. I like Z Sweet for my low carb baking. Z Sweet is Erythritol blended with Stevia extract. I think it has a very "clean" flavor, without any unpleasant aftertaste. The only sweeteners that I've found to work well are: - Z Sweet (Erythritol / Stevia) - Swerve (Erythritol /…

I second (third?) the comments about fat. Your fat and calories both look too low.

No dichotomy for me, I demonize them both -- but I was pre-diabetic / insulin resistant. I feel much better following keto and keeping carbs to 20-30 g per day.

OK Ladies - We should all be doing measurements regularly to monitor progress, and the girls are one of the areas that we should be tracking. Not only for weight loss, but also so you have the right size bra! Do NOT trust a store to do your bra size correctly. Many stores stock a limited set of sizes, and they will…

I have had success with erythritol, especially erythritol blended with stevia (Z sweet is my preferred). Mal = bad. Malitol definitely fits that description.

I wanted to give a quick update. The husband and I found an even better LC Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe over at All Day I Dream About Food. http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2013/06/coconut-chocolate-chip-cookies-low-carb-and-gluten-free.html Pretty much the same ingredients, but the ratios of each are a little different.…

It's a personal preference. I was very strict my first 6 months or so. My last year though I've loosened up a bit. I recognize that this is a lifestyle for me, and sometimes, having those items make it more liveable. It's really what works for you.

Most of us follow keto for weight loss, and aren't doing the protocol for epilepsy. Keto is typically described as low carb, high fat, moderate protein. Most of us are looking to be in ketosis. Regarding protein - excess protein will convert to glucose, and can impede this. The high fat / moderate protein is pretty key for…

I use 1 tbsp coconut oil. I think that's 14 g. Roughly 1.5 tbsp butter. I'm guessing that's the same as coconut oil, so that would be about 21 g butter. Here's what I do. Melt 8 oz butter and 10 tbsp coconut oil (140 g) in microwave. Thoroughly whisk in 1/2 cup cocoa powder and vanilla extract (1 tbsp). Evenly distribute…

Phinney and Volek cover this in "The Art and Science of Low carb Living" A good video with them here - http://futurepaleo.com/video-jumpstartmd-interview-with-stephen-phinney-and-jeff-volek-about-nutritional-ketosis/ Info on sodium begins at 32:56. In general though, From "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living"…

Those look GREAT! Much more in line with what I would expect. MFP's targets have always kind of bugged me. I tend to think of these as a "window". For calories, it's my target, +/-100 calories. (So I target 1550 calories, but I'm ok anywhere in the 1450-1650 range). Again, I try to hit these windows - 70-75% fat 20-25%…

OK, so your numbers of: 20 g Carbs 150 g Protein 66.5 g Fat Would net to about 1279 calories per day, and equate to the following percentages: Carbs: 6% Protein: 47% Fat: 47% This is not ideal for keto. This is closer to a low carb, high protein, moderate fat diet; when you actually want low carb, moderate protein, high…

I'm assuming you are on a ketogenic diet, so my answers are based on that. Tools: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ For the first week, don't worry about calories. Focus solely on getting into ketosis. Carbs: Keep net carbs around 20 g per day (net carbs are the carbs minus fiber). Try not to eat all of your carbs at…

There are two cases where I can think of where being in ketosis is an advantage. 1) For those that have metabolic syndrome / are insulin resistant. By stabilizing blood glucose and insulin, their bodies are able to burn fat stores in a way that they cannot when carbs (and insulin) are present. 2) Those that have become…

Isn't Medithin a supervised plan (I think it's Very Low Cal, in addition to low carb)? Sorry - I'm not too familiar with it. It might be best yo discuss with the clinic where you are doing this. It sounds like a metabolic issue, if you've been following this for 7 weeks with no weight loss.

You would probably enjoy eating it straight about as much as you would eating butter straight. (Some people do this - I'm not one of them). Depending on the type you get, it can have a subtle coconut flavor. That's good with some things, and not so good for others. I find it lovely in coffee.
