Weaning yourself off of MFP seems like a good idea in theory. But I've been down that road before with Weight Watchers or other plans like this. I know from using sites like this that cheese is about 100 calories an oz, ham is about 110 calories for 3 oz or generally the other common foods I eat. However that requires me…

Losing my weight makes all the difference. The easier question to answer would be what hasn't changed? I wouldn't have an answer to that one. Everything changed. - I can walk into any store and buy clothes. I went from a 48 men's pants to a 34. I went from an XXXL shirt, to a L. - I can play with my 3 year daughter without…

I'm over on fats and protein on almost every single day. I rarely exceed 150 gm of carbs, and generally only about 20 gm of sugar, and most of that sugar will come from either dairy milk or a banana I have most afternoons.

You are all also forgetting about the energy expenditure part. Gathering all of those grasses, roots, and fruits, as well as hunting was much more calorie intensive than what we do now. In addition, they had to work for everything - no cars, no washing machines, no pre-made shelters, no instant fire to keep animals away.…

Progress pictures are the best way to see this. During my path down weight loss, I've taken monthly pictures and WHOA is there a difference! You don't notice changes in yourself from day to day, or even over a few weeks because you get used to seeing yourself. You are making good progress so keep it up! Also, there is…

I actually agree with you as well. I average about 150 gram of carbs a day. Some days are less, some are more.

Fiber helps to keep you feel fuller longer. It takes longer to digest, and helps with water retention and regularity. As for sources here are a few about sugar itself. Insulin production has vast amounts of data, and is well documented. It's not hard to see how continued over production can lead to insulin resistances and…

Thanks! It sure does mean I've lost that much. I'm 5'9 and I've gone from 340 to 201.8. I had hypertension and sleep apnea. Both were gone after the first 6 months. I went from a men's size 48 pants, and XXXL shirts, down to a 34 pants and L shirts. How did I lose it you ask? I cut bread, rice, and pasta out of my diet and…

Yes, the body needs carbs to survive, however it needs the "correct" carbs to really get adequate nutrition. Carbs exist in all veggies, and these are much better options that what most of us reach for. Bread, pasta, chips, crackers, cookies, snack packs, etc. Sure, carbs from breads, pasta, rice etc are fine in the short…

Or, instead of taking supplements that can have serious side effects with dubious to non-existent results, you could kick the sugar and carb habits you have by simply doing it the old fashioned way. I didn't lose 138 lbs by taking supplements. I did it through managing my addition to processed carbs, and sweat equity in…

Travis is right. Stop weighing yourself everyday. Weight can fluctuate as much as a few pounds each day. It's suggested to only weight yourself once a week. Also, I don't think you need to be as concerned about your weight. I got your height from your profile, and if it's accurate, then you are on the very low end of a…

My wife and I don't eat pasta at all. It's one of our trigger foods so we avoid it completely. With pasta, really all we are looking for is a vehicle for the sauce. So, we julienne zucchini and have Zoddles and sauce! We also don't eat rice. We've switched over to using quinoa. The taste and texture are different, but we…

I use a Polar RS300X HRM and I hit start when I start my warm up, and hit stop after my last cool down stretch. Like mentioned before, be consistant with whatever you do. It's really up to you. Technically are burning extra calories during those times, but generally the are negligible.

Cool thread. -Workout clothes (shirt, shorts, running socks) -Running shoes -Towel -Smartphone with Spotify and Stopwatch apps -Armband for phone -Polar watch/heart rate monitor/footpod -Bluetooth headphones -Sweatpants for the walk out of the gym to house -Extra change of clothes for my potty training daughter -Lock…

So because my opinion is different I'm just supposed to shut my mouth and not say anything? Yet you and all these other people are allowed to give their opinion without an issue? It goes both ways. If you don't want to debate it, then maybe you shouldn't have jumped into the conversation to begin with?

Sugar is a carbohydrate. Try again.

http://www.details.com/style-advice/the-body/201103/carbs-caffeine-food-cocaine-addiction?currentPage=2 From the second page: "In 2007, researchers at the University of Bordeaux, France, reported that when rats were allowed to choose between a calorie-free sweetener and intravenous cocaine, 94 percent preferred the sugar…

I knew I'd get lambasted for posting my opinion on here. Okay, yes, maybe poorly worded. Bread is not bad in the sense that it's inedible. Will I forsake most processed carbs from my diet for life? Yes. The fact is that I got up to 340 pounds by overeating processed carbs. Bread, rice, pasta, pizza dough, doughnuts,…

Bread is bad. Bread, pasta and other processed sources of carbohydrates account for much of the obesity problem in the US. I should know. I'm addicted to them. Been hard to cut them out this past year. As a general rule, I don't eat bread, rice or pasta. I do eat some processed carbs a few times a week, but when I do it's…

My wife and I have a 3 year old with lots of energy. We both work full time, my wife even has a 1+ hr commute each way. You'll find my wife out the door by 5:30, and I'm out the door with my daughter by 6:30. We don't get home until about 6:30. There are two big things that help us out: 1. Planning - We grocery shop on…

I do a group training session at my local gym twice a week. We concentrate on lower weights, higher reps with a mix of body weight, machines, and elastic bands. The key to burning the calories during the workout is the fast pace. In a 45 minute session we do 15 minutes of core, then 30 minutes of everything else. The core…

It's definitely something you can do on the cheap! You don't need a gym membership, personal trainer or any of that jazz. Start small. Think of a snowball rolling down a hill. It starts out small, but then as it picks up more snow, it get larger and faster at the bottom. Make small changes, and once they have become habit…

I'm a server admin and work an average of 50 or 55 hours a week by a combination of days, nights, and weekends. I'm up at 5:30 every weekday, so that I can get both myself and my daughter ready and out the door. She gets to daycare by 6:45 and I'm at work by 7. I spend an hour in the gym 4 days a week or so and am rolling…

This is all you need to know. You put no effort into something, you get nothing out of it. There is no magic pill, no magic diet, no magic water, or food, or anything else that will consistently help you lose weight over the long-term. The only two things that will work, are lifestyle changes, and exercise. Americans are…

Another tip for you all. You can use the greek yogurt to make savory items as well, not just sweet. My inspirations come from a blogger named Shelly, but she goes by EggFace. You can find her blog here --> http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Anyway, she had gastic bypass and as a product of that needs more…

I divide my intake evenly into four meals, of which the fourth one is for my snack. I finish my dinner at 7 PM, about 30 minutes after my exercise. I'm usually hungry again by around 9 or 9:30, so I tend to essentially have a fourth meal. My diary is public, so you can see for example that tonight my "snack" is really my…
