315 lb. deadlift:

Here I am at 250, 195 and 173. Took a little over a year.

Accurate, super accurate, BRUTALLY HONEST recording of EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth that has calories, was the beginning of weight loss for many of us. Using a food scale, not measuring cups or spoons (which can be over loaded quite easily) is a necessity. After a week of getting the hang of it, you'll have a…

I've been waiting weeks to get to this!

As of today:
-
Only 255 lbs. Think I got to parallel.

I'm sure you'll have those that will disagree with you, but not me. Take it from the guy that can EASILY eat 4,000+ calories at the chinese buffet without feeling sick, while I'm cutting weight, I cannot have cheat days. I can undo an entire weeks deficit in one sitting, so what's the point? If I have pizza with the…

Signed up for my first powerlifting meet in 30 YEARS! Yup, I'll be competing in the geriatric division, but so what?! With minimal expectations, I just wanna "belt up" with the youngsters and see if it's as much fun/stress/taxing as it was when I was in my thirties. Wish me luck, it's in May, so I have a few months to hone…

Agree with nexangelus, 3+ pounds per week, for a 160 lb. person is nearly 2% of your bodyweight per week. A realistic, healthy & sustainable goal, for most people, is 0.5% - 1.0% per week. For you that would be approximately 0.8 to 1.6 lbs. per week. Much, MUCH more healthy and sustainable. I got to my goal FAST many times…

Also, Extreme Wellness Tortillas are just 50 calories and there are Crepini's at just 30 calories each. I like 'em both. Crepini's are a little more fragile.

Take it from an old geezer, the best diet is, , , wait for it, , , a balanced diet. Yep, with protein, carbs, & fats in reasonable proportions. Meat, fish & poultry (or vegan protein sources) along with sufficient whole grains, fruits and vegetables, now THAT is the best diet. If you need to lose weight, eat at a deficit.…

You know what's missing in all these photos??? HAIR!!!

My attitude about marriage. Almost nothing makes me happier than making my wife happy. And in turn, she seems to share that same attitude toward me. Together we've done pretty good for 40 years!

Yep, servings like "a banana" are wholly insufficient. Within the last month I've bought bananas that weigh 3.5 oz (87 calories) up to 6 oz (150 calories) each. A loosely packed cup of rice weighs approximately 6 oz. Pack it tightly and it' nearly 8 oz. Quite a margin for error. When I'm in a weight loss phase, I weigh…

Aching joints, interrupting sleep cries out "DELOAD". I had to look it up. But basically, I had to spend a week or two where I cut my weights, or my volume (number of sets) or BOTH in half. Even fewer workout days might also be called for.

Once the weight has come off, it's REALLY hard to admit it might be too much and put a little back on. I went from 248 to 173 and was so weak, tired and achy, much like you described. I put back on about 8 lbs. and trimmed my lifting sessions to one hour maximum (usually less) and I'm starting to feel pretty good again. My…

Well a 'bank' full of PhD's that train world class athletes, crossfitters, bodybuilders & NFL players state that bulking works best for muscle building for 99% of the people, and 'recomping' only works for overweight newbies. Check out Dr. Mike Israetel @ 'Renaissance Periodization' and Dr. Eric Helms at 3DMj, which run…

This happens to me all the time: cause 'big brother' is watching!!!

Stayed in Onederland all year long. Made it down to 172 then decided to maintain at 180-185, which feels a LOT easier.

Well done! What have you been doing?

Donated my 112th pint (14 gallon) of blood today.

Even with the rack there I could tell, it was DEEP!

I'm between an Irish Setter and a Gold Brick.

Lookin' good. When it got to 20 lbs. that's what other people started to notice (on me). So hang on, once the comments & advice start coming :p

This! Yep I take my shirt off (for whatever reason) and everyone gasps as they see the 62 year old actually has 6-pack abs. . .

1450 calories is either 48 oz of turkey (3+lbs.), 58 oz of bananas (3 1/2 lbs.) or 29 Xtreme Wellness tortillas. Basically what my "tip" is, is if you eat the right kind of foods, 1450 is a LOT of calories and can fuel your training and your life. 1450 is also the number of calories in one cr*ppy double bacon cheeseburger…

Yup, I'm up 5+lbs. also. But I won't take the scale seriously until Monday morning. That way, it won't be intestinal bloat.
