  • I thought this too. My 8 year old can cook eggs several ways, chop up all veggies and fruits, sauté, etc. I haven't let her use the oven yet but only because she is not tall enough. On the other hand, my husband couldn't cook to save his life until a few months ago. He tried to cook for me 3 times in our 10 year marriage…
  • Optimum Nutrition 100% whey in Double Chocolate. It is a few dollars cheaper at my grocery store than on Amazon. I haven't tried the other flavors but the reviews are good. https://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Standard-Double-Chocolate/dp/B000QSNYGI It dissolves very well in water or milk with a shaker cup, or I add it…

  • For some people, this is how they get started. My friends like the challenges their BB coach puts out and I guess there is some sort of motivation in that. But yes, the Shakeology thing drives me crazy, like that is THE KEY to weight loss. My friends are paying like $120 a month in Shakeology shakes or something crazy like…

  • I'm glad my post was helpful. Don't be afraid to adjust your calories if you need to like I did. 1,000 a day deficit was way too low for me and I needed an extra portion of protein for my weight lifting goals. Good luck on the program! My friends had lost 7 lbs that last time I checked in with them.

  • It looks like you could brush up on weighing your food, but the biggest problem is eating out so often. That you HAVE to eat out for your job, you can usually make special requests of no butter, no oil on your meat and veggies. Just get a grilled lean meat and steamed veggies. It will still somehow have more calories and…
  • I am the same as you, similar weight and height and carry most of it in my lower body. Lift heavy weights on your upper body and your shoulders will widen a bit and make you look more of an hour glass shape. But that takes time. Before the wedding you may want to stop with the weight loss and work on weight lifting as much…
  • 10 lbs in 5 weeks is wonderful. Don't be fooled by Biggest Loser or other shows where they are losing a pound a day. That is 1) not healthy and 2) under a doctor's supervision. Weight loss is not linear. Water weight fluctuations can cause the scale to bounce around, and that is normal. Try trendweight.com or happy scale…
  • 40 carbs/30 protein/30 fat
  • I am on the food portion of this program right now, just starting my 3rd week. I did not purchase the set, I just looked up the calorie ranges and cup sizes on pinterest and I'm doing my own lifting program + cardio at the gym. I have calorie counted on mfp for a couple years and know how to use a scale and lose weight…

  • I do not have the issues with binging/restricting, but I do get night wake ups at 2 or 3 where I can't go to sleep for 2-3 hours afterwards. Generally I get them for weeks at a time when I am either cutting calories or stressed about a particular situation that I am running through my head. Some things that I have found to…
  • Don't worry about supplements yet. Whey protein maybe if you can't get enough protein through whole foods. Just worry about tracking your calories and start a good beginner program such as Stronglifts 5x5 or any structured full body program where you work on the basic lifts. You can worry about bro splits and supps when…
  • Also 1000 a day is way too low even for a woman. I think 1500 is the lowest healthy calories for a man.
  • Have you ever used a crockpot? You can throw chicken or other meat in there with one of those slow cooker liners so no clean up. Lots of recipes online for simple crockpot meals. My grocery store has cooked meats (chicken breast, shrimp, etc.) in the deli area, along with cooked veggies, grains, even salads. It would be…
  • Who in the world says do cardio first and wait on strength training? Probably not many on MFP. No reason to wait on strength training. If haven't done strength training in a while you may want to start with body weight or machine exercises instead of a barbell but not reason to wait.
  • 1. Are you truly sedentary outside of exercise? If not, change your setting. 2. You need to estimate your cals burned on mfp and eat back 50-75% of them. Between those two issues you could be under eating by 500+ calories a day. And of course there is always the question of whether you are tracking accurately with a scale…
  • First of all, there is not one perfect way of eating to lose weight. As long as you are below your calories you will lose weight. Low carb, IF, frequent meals are just a few of the ways some people find make it easier for them to stay in a deficit. Others like 3 big meals instead of 6 small meals. Lots of protein, fiber,…
  • Exactly what I was going to say. But as another poster said watch your milk supply. I did Weight Watchers after having both of my babies but they put my calories too low even on breast feeding plan. I had to bump them up until my supply came back. Also with my first daughter I did stroller fit once she got old enough for a…
  • If losing only 26 lbs you may want to set your goal to .5 lb a week. When I cut calories coming off maintenance or over eating I am starving for a week, then it gets better. A few tips: Make sure you are eating enough protein. .8 grams per pound of your weight is a good amount. The amount MFP sets is not enough. Try to eat…

  • I know I need to bulk to reach my goals, but it is so hard mentally as a women to purposefully put on weight. I may have to wait until the Fall/Winter for that one, I want to still wear a bikini for the rest of the summer (which in Texas can last through September).
  • PHAT looks awesome, thanks!
  • I had not heard of GZCL either. That sounds like what I want to do - have goals to progress in weight but monthly, not weekly. I'm not even close to my max lifting potential, but pushing it to my limit every workout just leads me to injuries and set backs. Slow and steady is what I'm looking for.
  • I've never heard of DUP before, I will have to check it out. Thanks!
  • Wow, great link thanks! I made it through about half of New Rules of Lifting for Women a few years ago but it got a little complicated. I will have to look into Strong, thanks.
  • People who say "I'm not fat, I'm big-boned" are the same as people who insist they have slow metabolisms, undiagnosed medical conditions, and genetic pre-dispositions. [/quote] There is someone in my family like this. Always blames genetics, thyroid, etc. for weight. They have had tests run and nothing physically wrong.…
  • I don't remember any set rules but my mom didn't really cook. If she did it was from a can or box. I ate a lot of spaghettios and Kraft Mac and cheese. We got to eat sweets whenever we wanted. I remember my sister and I coming home from school and each eating a whole row of Oreos for "after school snack." I'm lucky I was…
  • As others have said, two eggs is not that many calories as long as you don't fry it in lots of butter. I just use a mist of oil on the pan. I'm eating two eggs right now as I type this. Are you strength training? You can't control where your body loses fat, but you can control where you gain muscle. Try Strong Curves or…
  • I gained 40 something lbs with first kid and 50 with second not watching what I was eating and indulging in my pregnancy cravings. I was able to bounce back after with….calorie counting and exercise. I actually used WW after both pregnancies, but that is just another form of calorie counting. I prefer mfp now. Don't stress…

  • Have you been tracking your calories accurately?
  • You don't have to cook yourself separate meals. It is not sustainable for the long term, and it is good to practice now how you want to eat forever. I usually serve myself smaller portions of the same foods I serve my family, usually with a larger portion of veggies and smaller portions of calorie dense foods. Most recipes…
  • Home workout dvds Crockpot Meal prep on Sunday (though I prefer fresh dinner at night, I do this for lunches and snacks) Make the best choices you can when you are out of the house Family walks/exercise together/tennis or other sport together One thing I have on hand is a few favorite weekly menus with a shopping list. So…
