  • Salad 1: Mixed baby field greens with 1-2oz crumbled goat cheese, croutons (homemade with 1oz of a whole wheat baquette, cut into cubes, sprayed with olive oil spray, and toasted/roasted with whatever herbs I feel like throwing in), craisins or raisins, some fennel seeds, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar (the good kind).…
  • I love to cook, too. Instead of being a hinderance, I really feel that cooking gives people more options in losing weight, kwim? A friend of mine lost weight by (for example) eating a Wendy's chili, baked potato, and diet pop every day for lunch for god knows how long. Dinner was probably some gross something from a…
  • I asked about that (doing different muscle groups on different days) and she said that will come later. Like, (I guess) if you're just starting out then you should do all muscle groups on the same day? She also said that after about a month of this I'd be ready to switch it up. So I don't know. I agree on the cardio - it…
  • I'm not an expert and I'm really just starting out, but I did meet with a trainer when I joined my gym and, seeing as you are also just starting out as I am, maybe this will be helpful to you. I told the trainer I wanted to lose fat and build muscle, which (it sounds like) you are also trying to do. My workout is below. I…
  • I feel that way with certain machines, so I just use one arm at a time instead of both to make sure my left arm gets the same load. It takes longer that way, but I can't see the harm.
  • The pain meds cause constipation, too. So take the ss even if you don't take the Zofran. Good luck!
  • I'm not on day 1, but I'm very much in the beginning of my journey. Pictures of me at my heaviest motivate me. The scale motivates me. Thinking about how skinny girls get to wear cute clothes motivates me. I remember an NPR commentator said one time, "I like clothes better than I like food" and that always stuck with me…
  • Ditto on the loose fitting pants. Also, if you do take the pain meds and/or get Zofran for nausea, TAKE A STOOL SOFTENER every day until your first BM. Sorry if TMI.
  • Forgot to mention, one of the nurses mentioned that she was home cooking dinner for her family the same day as the surgery! Now I could not have done that, but I think it just highlights how everyone is different. The scars are insignificant. I didn't have a bikini body to begin with, but if I ever get to that point, they…
  • I just had mine out April 9th. For me, waking up from surgery was the worst part of it. Once the anesthesia wears off (and the pain meds kick in), things get better. By 2.5 days post-surgery, I stopped the pain meds completely (they made me feel sad...that might sound weird...I can't understand how people get addicted to…
  • Please add me! Thank you!
  • I'm not a fan of bottled dressings, so I used to make my own balsamic vinaigrette (and use a ton of oil) but now I just buy a really good balsamic (like, not from the grocery store, but a place that specializes in oils and vinegars) and use that alone. I know olive oil is not the enemy here, but I feel much better not…
