1200 is pretty low. There are days where I eat 1700 calories, but I am very active throughout the day. Be sure to nourish your body with healthy foods it will use and eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. I think 1400 calories per day would be reasonable. I say no, because I find it dehydrates me. I drink lots of water, try to get enough sleep and drink green tea instead, and I find I have plenty of energy. Regular exercise makes you feel more energized as well. Perhaps I'm overly sensitive to caffeine, but it makes me jittery and somewhat anxious. Definitely a no for me.
