We've all been there at least once. I wouldn't worry about it too much; ;just get back on track tomorrow and you'll be fine. Now I want wine!

I wear a FitBit, which gives me my TDEE. I do lift heavy, about 3-4 times a week.
-
Sadly, my TDEE minus 20% is just under 1150. Boo!

Age: 42 1. Which, if any, weight loss programs have you attempted (i.e. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, etc.)? None; I believe in eating the right amount of calories, no more. 2. Do you feel like you can relate to any of the spokespeople in the current commercials they have out for these programs (i.e. for…

Did you subtract 10% from the Fitbit reading? If so, was it close to the Scooby calculation?

Um, the OP said she had a borderline eating disorder; the last thing she needs to be asking for is advice about how to get her weight back down. OP, you may be having an inflammatory response where your body is holding onto water weight. If you were in starvation mode, I doubt you'd pile on 25 pounds. Also, what was your…

The website says that it's about 90% accurate. Definitely helpful.

Whenever I'm at the gym and smell something particularly foul, I look for someone wearing gloves. Oh yes, they stink. Really bad. Don't get them.

I agree with using a scale to weigh most of your foods, but lettuce? I wouldn't bother with weighing it.

Try New Rules of Lifting for Women. It has a whole plan that should work for most women.

The weight loss does eventually level out. I was on it about 6 years ago and lost 20 pounds -- that I needed to lose. While I got thin, I never got as thin as i am now.
-
The most I've eaten in a day was probably about 6,000 calories -- but that was a very long time ago. I'd say nowadays, the most I've ever been able to binge is about 3500.

It's either water weight, which causes weight to fluctuate, one pound really isn't much, or, you're eating more calories than you thought you burned off.

Utz Cheese Balls. Love them!

You have an eating disorder, but it was not caused by fasting. An eating disorder is a specific, mental-heatlh issue, which caused you to restrict your calories in an unhealthy manner. This would have happened no matter how you ate, it was not caused by your fasting. In fact, people with serious eating disorders shouldn't…

I don't really eat the amount MFP tells me; I follow the Fitbit instead. I've found that when I enter the exercise on MFP, it over calculates the calorie burn.
-
I forgot to add that I don't restrict any foods and have junk food regularly. Also, when I was in weight loss mode (I'm in maintenance now), I ate well under 1000 calories a day and never ate workout calories back.

42, 5'1" 92-95, 92-95 1500-2100 Weights 3-4 times per week, usually 1 hour; 45 minutes on elliptical 2 times per week, walk about 5 miles daily just as part of routine. Usually eat back exercise calories (hence the 2100 calorie days).

There's a huge different metabolically, hormonally, etc. between 37 and 40, trust those of us who've been there. That said, there's plenty of proof here that weight loss can be achieved.

I lost about 30 pounds after turning 41 (including the notorious last 10 and then some). However, I didn't follow the Dan plan; I just cut out a lot of calories. I'm at maintenance now and eat around 1500-1900 per day. I think 4 pages in, this thread has lots of proof that weight loss over 40 isn't impossible.

If you get the Bodymedia through Costco, it comes with a one-year subscription.

If I'm not hungry, I don't eat them.

Weight loss is really achieved by diet. As an earlier poster said, it's very easy to eat back the calories burned by exercise. If you stick to your plan, which, as I understand it, is eating at maintenance, you probably won't lose much weight. Regardless, you will be healthier overall if you start exercising, and, if you…

Do you people ever read my postings?????

That was me, too! I can tell you, I haven't lost any muscle mass (actually gained it) and maintained when I started to eat more. 1200+ just doesn't work for everyone.

Me!!! My BMR was measured at 950, so if I had eaten anywhere near 1200 I would have actually GAINED weight!!! So, yeah, I ate at 800 calories for almost a full year and lost 30 pounds. And guess what?? Now, my BMR is at 1200 and my TDEE is at 1900, so I've been able to maintain at 1500-1700 calories. So, yeah, eating under…

This!! I don't argue with my friends at all; I don't understand how any of you put up with other people telling you what to eat or not eat. Occasionally I get told I'm too thin, but I really don't get into a back-and-forth over it. It's just not worth it.

I lost between 25-30 pounds at 41. You can certainly do it!
-
I've only been using MFP for a short time and lost most of my weight before joining. I did track my calories to lose weight, but didn't really calculate my TDEE or anything like that. I ate a very low calorie diet for months (with occasional splurges) and lost between 25-30 pounds. I've recently begun eating close to TDEE…

Great post, but it sadly doesn't work for everyone. I'm 42 and, according to TDEE calculators, the most I can eat for maintenance is right around 1500. I also just started using the Bodymedia armband, and it said that I burned 1680 yesterday -- but I'd spent an hour weight lifting and 45 minutes on the elliptical. What…
