If I ate 2000 calories a day, I'd definitely gain weight. I'm 5'1" and 43.
-
Mine stopped syncing this morning, too. WTF?
-
You look great in both pics, but you weren't overweight. The OP is looking to lose weight by keeping her diet the same and lifting. I'm not sure that's feasible.
-
You are right on with this. A lot of women have no idea that perimenopause can actually start in a woman's mid to late 30's, and that full menopause is normal anytime after 40.
-
Listen to this advice, OP, it's sound.
-
That is amazing!!! Congratulations!!

My weight varies between 92-96 pounds, depending on time of month or whether I just happened to overeat at some point. I'm 5'1" and 42. I eat between 1500-1650 calories per day for maintenance and fast (no food, not some 500 calorie "fast") for 24 hours on occasion if I've eaten too much. I exercise about 6 times a week,…

Weights, girl, that'll put everything in its place and make it stay there!
-
From your picture, you don't look like you need to lose a lot of weight. Depending on your height/age, you may do fine at 1000 calories.

When did I tell her to keep up the good work??? And when did I say she's me or the other person?? I'm just saying she might not be the average person, either. Also, how do you know she's been dieting long enough for the hair loss to be caused by diet, as opposed to hormones or other conditions? And if it is caused by diet,…

She's not the only person on there who was tested and was lower. I've been tested and am lower and I saw at least one other poster say the same.
-
For those of you telling OP she's starving herself at 1200 and she can go way higher, read this link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/777877-i-had-my-bmr-tested-it-s-1032-calories. Eating over 1200 doesn't work for everybody.

False, I was never a yo-yo dieter and my metabolism is fine, thank you. It takes a lot less calories to maintain someone of my height and weight than it does for a bigger person. I don't know how old the OP is, but there's no guarantee her BMR is 1440 just because the TDEE calculator says so. So, to another poster, no,…
-
If she wants to lose weight, she needs to stay at 1200 at most. I'm 5'1" and have had my BMR tested; I can tell you it was barely 1000.
-
I HATE that term!!
-
Well, it helped me with weight loss and it helped me quit smoking. I also get acupuncture to regulate my hormones and found it's helped there, too. So, yeah, I believe in acupuncture. You just need to find a good practitioner, there are too many bad ones out there.
-
I'm 5'1," when I started out, my goal was 100 (from 122) and I'm now maintaining between 93-97. I think I'd like to stay here.
-
Then don't.

I would trust the Fitbit over some calculator that just gives estimates. Keep in mind that the Fitbit can be off by 10% up or down. You said you've lost weight more slowly than expected using the calculated TDEE; I think that says it all. My TDEE is estimated on the calculators at 1800, but I KNOW I burn a lot less. I make…

I started many years ago with a personal trainer. When I decided to lift on my own, I used New Rules for about 2 years. I've now moved to the Venus Index, which I really love. I'm starting to see muscle in places I never thought I'd see it. As for eating, I can't say I eat clean. I eat what I want, but stay within a…

Get your heart checked. Toothaches can be associated with cardiovascular disease. Not trying to scare you, just making a recommendation.

This person makes two good points: 1) A few years back, I had my RMR measured by that thing you breathe into. It said I burn 1000 calories, which is way less than the 1200 most people assume for my height. Until I started eating 800 calories a day, I didn't lose weight. 2) You CAN eat below RMR if you have enough fat…

Aw, thank you!
-
I know I'm going to get flamed by those who read this, but I lost 25 pounds in 3.5 months by eating about 800 calories a day and exercising regularly (though not a ton). I was 41 at the time and I'm very short (5'1"). I've always had a slow metabolism with a BMR around 1000 -- although now it's around 1200.
-
Agree with this.
-
I use a BodyFit and have noticed that I burn about the same amount doing the following: weights for one hour, running/walking for half an hour and simply cleaning house for about 45 minutes.
-
For those telling the OP to eat more, she's already said she tried that and actually gained weight.
-
That would be my case, too. Bloating during ovulation and right before menstruation. It sucks.
-
I think that as long as you feel energetic and good, it's okay to eat at 1200-1300.
-
Both you and the OP, so right on.
