Solicited - usually good advice. Or if a friend, someone I know, offers some unsolicited advice it's usually good. (I work out at a gym where several people I know from outside the gym also work out). Unsolicited advice from people I don't know - usually not real helpful.

I am a 5' tall female and I often wish I was taller. I am a short person in a world of tall people. I have to have step stools all over the house to get things from top shelves. My husband (he is 6'4") has to change all the light bulbs or I have to lug a ladder into the house (step stool not tall enough). When I fly I have…

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

That's true but if you add vegetables, these are GOOD FOR YOU and don't add a lot of calories. But do add lots of vitamins, nutrients, etc.
-
Saute whatever vegetables you have handy and toss them in with the rice. Nuts are good too.

My husband and I both weigh ourselves every morning when we get out of bed. I think it helps keep us motivated and if we see a bad upward trend we can nip it in the bud.

Oh and another positive side note (someone else already posted) you can use the cheapest sports bras you can find and they will work just fine. I have a drawer full of them, I think the most I paid for one is $10.

Yep, this happens. Mine were already small and now they are smaller. You just have to look at all the other positive aspects of lossing weight.

Everyone has a different metabolism and is hungry at different times of day. I am healthy (get regular physicals and Dr. says all is fine, no blood sugar problems) but I am pretty petite, (weigh between 90 - 95 lb.) and when I wake up I am HUNGRY and must eat something or I will start feeling sick after 1 - 2 hours. So I…

Not only do you need to eat more but you need to tailor your diet to the type of exercise you do. If you are doing a lot of cardio (walking, running, biking etc.) you need more carbohydrates for energy, before and after your exercise. If you are doing strength training (building muscle by lifting weights or other…

When I worked and ate breakfast at my desk every day I would take a container of "lite" yogurt, about 1/8 cup of granola, and about 1/2 cup of mixed fresh fruit to work and mix them all up together in a styrofoam cup and eat that for breakfast. Now I'm retired I'm basically eating the same thing for breakfast except now I…

Well this probably won't be the most popular reply, but I pay little attention to carbs except trying to keep them within sensible limits. I lose weight by eating less calories than my body burns, and I maintain my weight by matching my calorie intake to calories burned. It's that simple.

Doesn't sound like your genre of music but I find that electronic dance music is really good for running. It tends to have a fast beat and stays consistent (and those bass drops are great for your intervals, ha ha). I like the poppier more accessible EDM....David Guetta is my favorite. I could run forever to "Titanium" and…

I eat it every morning. I prefer Fage 0% but also eat Chobani 0%, or other brands if the store is out of Fage. Two heaping spoons (and I mean heaping) of yogurt mixed with fresh fruit (citrus, bananas, berries, pomegranite, cut up melon, etc.), a couple shakes of Tajin, 1/2 scoop of protein powder, and 1/8 cup of…

Fruit is generally very good for you with lots of vitamins and other beneficial nutrients, but as several others have pointed out, your calorie balance is going to determine if you gain or lose weight no matter what you eat. Also you need to keep an eye on your protein. I eat mostly fruit, vegetables, whole grains and…

Well this is all true too. My bro-in-law kept saying he didn't want to live to be 90 etc. etc. and we kept telling him Think of your kids and grandkids! They want to have you around! (VERY loving and close-knit family) Well guess what. He's gone, had a heart attack while driving and slammed into a concrete truck. A year…

All this stuff has been around for years and we have been eating it for years. Doesn't bother me. Everyone screams that they want to eat "organic" well guys organic doesn't mean pretty and sanitized. Insects and gland secretions are organic!

Ok the thing that drives me nuts..."Well who wants to live to be 90, and be in a nursing home? I would rather eat what I want, do what I want, and die young!" IT'S NOT ABOUT YOUR 90 YEAR OLD SELF. IT'S ABOUT YOU, TODAY! DON'T YOU WANT TO FEEL BETTER, LOOK BETTER, LOVE LIFE, TODAY?!?! I sure do!!!!!

He is (I think) pretty obviously jealous. I lift a lot and have gotten pretty muscular. My husband FREQUENTLY states to anyone who will listen how proud he is of me and how I am (his words) "100 lb. of pure muscle." I am definitely NOT, but if he wants to tell everyone I am, I am sure not gonna complain! He lifts too and…

I am from the area originally and I agree with several others...if you are going to be in the city you MUST go to "The Hill" and there are tons of good Italian restaurants, all very original and authentic. We like Cunetto's and Favazza's but there are SOOO many good ones, you can get on a good site like TripAdvisor and…

Yes this is all true and I do a lot of it and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my garden but I'm retired and I have time. And a large freezer to store what I grow in the summer. People working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet and living in an apartment can't do this. However, I really think if you really look at what you are buying and spend…

Here is a tip I found and it works well for a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables that tend to mold pretty fast. THIS REALLY WORKS! After rinsing your fruit/veggies, soak them for a few minutes in a solution of cider vinegar and water (about 1/4 vinegar). This kills all the mold, mildew, spores, bacteria etc. that are living…

You need to check out some cookbooks like Sparkpeople and Cook This, Not That. They specialize in fast and easy meals. Cooking Light also has a fast meals cookbook. It doesn't have to take along time to eat healthy!

Go get a colonoscopy. I guarantee you will get the cleanse of your life!!! Other than that - don't do a cleanse. they are not good for you.

I am not sure what this is, I haven't seen it. but if you want something approximating real peanut butter for less calories, go half-and-half Smuckers 100% Peanut Butter (has NO additives, it is all peanuts) and Walden Farms Zero Calorie Peanut Spread which has no peanuts in it and doesn't taste a whole lot like peanut…

If you go to "Apps" on MFP there is a Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) calculator. This will give you the approximate calories you burn every day doing nothing, based on the height, weight, etc. you have entered into MFP. From there you would need to add in all the calories you burn from the exercise you get every day using the…

I do 150 "boy" push-ups in sets of 25 on my upper-body strength training days (2 or 3 times/week).

When I had to live by myself in a small apartment away from my husband for my work, and worked 60 - 80 hours week, these were my best friend. Had them almost every night for dinner (along with other diet frozen entrees such as Healthy Choice, Amy's etc.). I would usually pile more vegetables on top of whatever I was…
