Plan ahead- Exercise. Don't drink as much. Just a couple thoughts. I too find myself sometimes wasting way more calories than I would like on alcohol, like I did this past weekend. It happens. When it does I will try and recapture some of the calories by hitting the gym a little harder and being more strict with the eating…

Dieting ends the day you realize and accept that no diet has ever, or will ever, work. As the previous poster said, it's a change in your mindset. It's evolution not restriction that gets the results.

Diet AND exercise? That is just crazy enough to work! Joking aside, good post and info.

I think it'd be a great place to met someone. There are no rules when it comes to attraction. For me though, it's not such a good idea. My wife would not be amused. Hahaha.

Averaging those out will probably give you a ballpark, but I would try and find someone to do a caliper test for you. That is more accurate than the bioelectrical impedance. I wouldn't put too much faith in the online calculators personally. Skin fold testing has a margin of error of approx. 4% when done correctly,…

I wouldn't get too caught up with the numbers, as everyone has different builds and body composition. 150 for one 6 ft tall guy can look and be drastically different for another. Does he look healthy? Does he feel good and have energy? Does he eat well? That is what I would focus on.

It takes a lot of bad health decisions outweighing the good ones to gain weight. Likewise, it takes a lot of good health decisions outweighing bad ones to lose weight and improve health. Do not get discouraged. This is part of the journey. Nobody is going to make the best decisions 100% of the time. But we can strive for…

I find it helps to really plan out the weekend. For instance, I knew yesterday I was going out for dinner and it was going to be a lot of extra calories, so I got in a solid 2 hours at the gym. Calories weren't an issue. I think a lot of people struggle with empty calories from alcohol on the weekends. Again, planning it…

Wait, are you telling me that there is misinformation on the interwebs?!?! As with anything in life, the information age has given people access to a massive amount of information. Some of it is good; some of it is even great and can be life changing. Some of it however is just wrong and even dangerous. That doesn't just…

Both.

For an NFL fullback that would be fine. Sounds like she is overweight to me, as it doesn't sound like she is packing a lot of muscle, like body building amounts of muscle.

Moderation. Also, switch to whole wheat Mac & cheese, like Hodgson Mills. And skip the added butter.

Been using one for 9 years. It's a basic Polar. I consider a decent HRM essential workout gear.

I exercise a lot, have low blood pressure, and don't use salt excessively. I am mindful of it, I suppose, but I don't worry about it. Harvard School of Public Health says in general people have too much sodium in their diets, but what do they know? Where'd they go to school, Har....oh, wait.

Hahaha! Nice work, Ponce.

I drive a GTI. Yes, I always obey the posted limit. I think the best line I've heard that describes people's attitudes towards speed is : Everyone who drives slower than me is an idiot. And everyone who drives faster than me is an f'ing *kitten*.

Nothing causes more cancer than the interwebs.

Wow! Your story just brought tears to my eyes! What a wonderful, beautiful story. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing.

NO! Bacon is LIFE! Ok, maybe it's not the best thing for you, but it's tied with ice cream for most delicious. :-) I do love bacon but I limit myself to having it once a month or so. It's a treat. Center cut is the best option (as far as real bacon goes). I don't care for turkey bacon as I find it a weak substitute- too…

Well said! That is a great sentiment and state of mind. The psychology of weight loss and health are so important, and this is a great example of the mind set that leads to success.

Congratulations! That is wonderful. 5k's were what lit the fuse for my wife and me. My first 5k was about 35 minutes, too! I love the energy at the events; lots of people working on fitness. Very positive and uplifting atmosphere.

I weigh myself between 4-7 times a week. I only record once a week typically. I won't record a fluctuation one way or the other unless it has stuck around for a few days.

Wow. Amazing job. You look great. Truly inspirational.

It's good for the price, but it does cater to the lowest common denominator, as others have alluded to. I was a member for a couple years. Lots of cardio equipment and plenty of machines. Free weights were lacking, as well as any designated area for stretching and non-machine based strength training. The best workout I get…

I think you're over-thinking it.

As Michael Pollan put it in his book, In Defense of Food, "Eat food. Mostly vegetables. Not too much."

Can we now turn this into a closed group?

Yeah, maybe some high sodium foods were in the mix? I had the same thing happen recently. I had been slacking, rehabbing my Achilles, and on vacation. Got on the scale and was up 4 lbs from my norm. Within a few days of being back on track I was back down to normal. The human body is not a machine that is always linear and…
