  • Staying lean has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, nutrient partitioning, etc., on top of avoiding lengthy dieting cycles that tend to tank training capabilities.
  • Rhino (Efferding) still warms up to his working weights, or he'd have crippled himself long ago. Not even the strongest guys in history just rolled in and started their sessions with 800+ lbs. squats and deadlifts. It's just that once they are that strong, their warmups end up containing weights that most can't 1RM.
  • Fantastic, thanks. So, to add to my previous diet protocol posts, I run an EC stack of 25mg eph/200mg caffeine 4x/day. The ephedrine is HCL from Primatene or sulphate from Bronkaid, depending upon which is in stock. In order to keep the hangry monsters at bay, I space everything out in two hour intervals. So essentially,…
  • Something else I just remembered: did you ever get a verdict on discussion involving EC? Kinda feel like I'm only being half honest if I leave out the supplemental side of the protocol.
  • If your son turns out anything like I did during and after my formative years, he'll soon be preferring foods that would make your average Mexican sweat bullets and fan his mouth.
  • It really is unfortunate that people with that specific allergy live in the west. There are several breeds of cattle (and goats and sheep) whose milk doesn't contain that specific protein. They just don't produce enough milk to be profitable enough to justify mass production.
  • Ymmv, but it's been working fine for me. I have basically been running 16-18 week bulks, followed by a two week hard cut, three weeks of maintenance seeking, then building back to a small surplus.
  • I do a buttload of mobility work using a lacrosse ball and foam roller prior to deads and squats. However, I also have the hips, thoracic spine and legs of someone who's been a truck driver for almost 14 years, so this may be completely unnecessary for anyone else.
  • The dex/insulin dual infusion is to keep from crashing the bs level too fast. Rapidly swinging too fast from such a steep incline isn't good either. Now granted, they could just lower the slin dose, but that just ends up making the process take longer than it needs to. Having two variables to tinker with makes the…
  • Doesn't feel good to be limited on your lifting capacity by *kitten* lungs either. Trust me.
  • Not a bad idea. Ease up to maintenance for two weeks to a month, see how things feel, and if all is going well, drop back to a deficit for a bit.
  • Honestly, I'd not bulk in the 16-20% bf range, but that's just me, and I now stay in the 10-15% area. However, if absolute strength is your sole focus, then yeah, have at it.
  • Psyllium husk is pretty legit for shutting up a grumbling gut. I've used it before on hard cuts, and it's a shitload cheaper in bulk, ground form than anything that comes in a capsule.
  • My local PH had one of those as well, until about seven years ago. What really amazes me in retrospect, is the fact that those arcade machines were still functioning flawlessly after so many decades.
  • I wonder if the book will address the part where recommending this goes against all medical ethics, as his experimental methods and controls have been torn apart by literally every oncologist in the world. Short form: it's great for some forms of cancer, but can actually make several types worse.
  • Shhh, trust me, I got this. Feel free to check my progress on my last cut in the Culking Bishes thread's last pages.
  • There's absolutely no question there. Teenagers, especially boys, can make gains seen only in adults who are gear users. That said, they usually have more leeway on the high side anyway, due to organ and bone development and the like.
  • It just came out a few months ago. I preordered it, but I am pretty sure it's still only available as hard copy. He said when it was released that it would be several months before he even cared to start working on the ebook format.
  • African or European?
  • So basically, like most things worth learning (beyond basics), the current answer is mostly "hell if we know". Bah.
  • You can still "eat big to get big", it just might not be the kind of big you're looking for. Hah.
  • Oh definitely. As Lyle has put it before, after ones third year of consistent, proper training, you'll be gaining around 3/4th of jack-*kitten* on a monthly basis. Dreamer bulks are a bad idea in year one, but a recipe for disaster after year three, unless you're on dat 600mg.
  • It absolutely does. It was a bit glitchy at first, but the community really came together and helped Sure fix the issues. It actually has less problems than vanilla Skyrim now. Haha.
  • An update on mine: finished my cut and refeed at 162.3 from 176. Starting the process of reverse dieting back to maintenance now before hitting a VERY small surplus leading up to my December meet. Just need to be able to be under 165 for that day, then I'll be spending a year lean bulking into the 181 weight class.…
  • As do I, but since my body has finally gotten its hunger signaling in order for the first time in my life (being obese by age ten kinda screwed it up a bit), if I didn't, I'd not gain a damned thing. Great for most people. Not so good for an aspiring powerlifter who weighs 163 at 5'10".
  • Book: The Hungry Brain by Stephan Guyenet. It's the best written thing I have ever seen that intertwines neuroscience, nutrition and overeating. For anyone who wants a plain term (yet in-depth) explanation on why the brain is a damned dirty liar when it comes to food intake, it's crucial reading. A screencap from the ebook…
  • Everyone has days where they just feel like hell, regardless of body composition. It's when it's chronic that you need to worry. You can read plenty of fun stories in bodybuilding contest prep of you really want to know when you might be getting a bit too low to hold. Hint number one: the soldier stops snapping to.
  • Water and sodium loading then subsequent cutting can get rid of much of it. It's been used for a long time by athletes that need to make weight classes. That said, you're better off figuring out what's causing it, because once your body balances back out from the loading protocol, it will come right back unless you solve…
  • His newest book 5/3/1 Forever includes everything from both of those, plus a buttload of updates and new templates that he's been running on the guys that he trains. No fluff, no pictures, all information and programs. He's definitely stepped his game up. I'm actually going to be running his Coffinworm template starting…
  • Understandable. It's definitely not something that's for everyone (or even many), but I wanted to throw that out there. For anyone who does consider it, my default advice is always "read the book twice before committing yourself to it". It's definitely easy to screw yourself and end up feeling like *kitten* if you screw it…
