Eating 5-6 times per day increases your metabolism and you tend to eat less at mealtimes. Some people do 5-6 small meals, but I personally do 3 meals focusing on a larger breakfast and lunch, with 2-3 light snacks (approx 200 cals) per day.

Absolutely not! Don't be ashamed to walk during a race. I've been a runner for over half my life. You're definitely ready for a 10K with being up to 4.5 miles already.
