MALIA! How wonderful! THANK YOU for sharing this wonderful news with us! Congratulations!

Last week, I completed five hours of reformer Pilates, two hours of swimming lessons, an hour of deep water aquafit, AND 170,000 steps, mostly from purposefully marching my dog around. My victory is not that I completed this much activity, it is that I ENJOYED this much activity.

Okay...so I have been attending a Pilates class since March. It is a one hour, easy going, full body workout focused on core strength. I started going because it was something that could be adapted to what little I could do. I continue to go because it is now not only something I can do better than I could nine months ago,…

Nice summary though. Thanks.

Woohoo, Mandy! Great to see you again. May your logging streaks be long and your losses sensible and sustainable! If you can cope with the stress of moving states without falling back on old patterns then there is NOTHING you can't do! Drink your water and good logging and good luck! Mark

We ALL get wrapped up in our own trips from time to time. Plus it is the nature of a group like this for participation to wax and wane with the seasons. When I first started this gig, 452 days ago, I had a LOT of time on my hands. I occupied myself with posting on this site to keep my hands busy and my nose out of the…

I tried something new...ish today. I survived my first cardio-bounce session. Basically, it's the same reformer Pilates with a trampoline at the end instead of a footbar, so instead of pushing against spring resistance, you are jumping against it. So it is more cardio and stretch and less resistance and stretch. IT WAS A…

You are a rock! I use the same method you do. Eat what I want, in moderation, and then work it off walking the dog! Oh...plus I have found that hydration and good sleep patterns are REALLY important to my success. How about you?

That's kind of the trade off at a certain point in life. You lose the weight and FEEL younger, but the extra skin can have an aging effect. I'm down more than 100, and intellectually, I KNOW I am smaller, leaner, and fitter--but in the mirror, the only thing I can see and feel is my big saggy belly. BUT--I can now take my…

Good orthotics saved me from crippling shin splints and calf pain. I now have more than 400 days of pain free brisk long walks under my belt.

"C" is the Roman numeral for hundred.

Pilates yesterday. Pilates tomorrow. Walking the dog EVERY day! I aim for between 70-120 of what my Fitbit calls "Very active minutes"...sometimes this can take 70-120 minutes of dog walking...sometimes it takes longer, and the step count ranges most days between 16k and 20ish. But it is the very active minutes that I log…

"LL1C+" ooooo...I LIKE the new brand!

And the 400+ Silent Sams and Sallys who join up and disappear without a trace... meh. Their loss. WE are lovely people.

I still buy XXXL shirts from Tee Fury. (They do size a bit small.) But I am so used to wearing big baggy shirts that wearing clothes that fit "properly" always feels a bit weird and constraining. HOWEVER...I have been wearing compression socks for nearly two years (talk about miracle cures!) and at Russ' suggestion added a…

Hey Scott! Wow! Great work so far! Congrats! And I like your attitude! A long haul approach is required for this gig. And I would say you have that in spades! Unlike you, I started with walking and moved on to the gym...though I still walk EVERY day. I was plateaued at 100ish lost for a long time but recently have…

Be sensible. Be consistent. Find some support. This thing you are trying to do is so much easier with a few like minded folks who get the proverbial "It". http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/15651-let-s-lose-100 That group has people at all stages of BIG loss...from daunted "Befores" to some fairly amazing "Afters",…

Hey Mike! You are off to a fine start. Water, sleep, logged food, and as much movement as is available to you in good shoes (You may need orthotic support--I did!)...all will be well. Our local rec centre does water physio. Super basic exercises for people in pain. At 400 I wore a big black t-shirt and trunks that came…

Alright...alright...it seems that there is still a reason and a purpose to our collective. Dan--we're stayin'! Happy? (I am.) Mark

Always go with what you can stick to. You need to build a plan for yourself that accommodates your lifestyle and your personal psychology. In the last year, I think I have achieved some real control over my emotional and reactionary eating. In the early days when I was working much harder to avoid my problem foods, like…

Thanks Russ! Compression shirts are a super idea. Went straight there. Unfortunately, Amazon won't ship that particular product to Canada for some reason. I have a found a local shop that will order them in. SO...I should have that wobble wrapped and out of the way by week's end! Thank you again for the suggestion. cheers!…

Okay.... I started today. It did not go well, A year ago, I laughed at the physio instructor who said I would be running by spring. She was TOTALLY wrong. I was doing Pilates by spring and I started running today. I've got the walking part down. I can march 5k with a more or less engaged core in just over an hour, no fuss.…

I dunno Dan. Sounds like Frank's volunteering to me! He IS our biggest Loser (as far as I know...any challengers?) and an heroic example of what can be done with enough grit and hard work...

There are nearly 550 members in this group! By mass, we are Legion! (But getting smaller all the time!) I, for one, owe this group about a hundred pounds of success. And my ticker is hardly unique or anywhere close to the most impressive. It doesn't happen overnight. But it does happen. If you do The Things that Need…

Welcome Tara...er...emmerin78...our newest group moderator and troll hunter! Thank you so much. Plenty more room for mods... "Step right up! Host a board. Lose some weight! Step right up!"

I have been staying off the scale this summer. A long plateau and then a minor (temporary) gain took its toll on my morale. Instead I have been trying to eat less and move more and just enjoy the summer. My payoff was to try on a pair of El Cheapo jeans from Costco...the largest they sell and a size I have not worn…

Yep...10000 minimum steps a day for 399 days--plus a modest calorie deficit for most of 'em.... That was good for more than 100 pounds and some self-esteem here! Good luck!

Leanna... Gettin' It DONE! But...um....I see no cheese in these shots; just resolve and results! Oh...and that dazzling smile.
