I actually took my self off all artificial sweeteners lately. I was drinking quite a bit of diet sodas and using NutraSweet at home on other things. I've been having trouble with my liver/gallbladder. Been ultra sounded for gallstones and nothing, so I figured why not take this one thing out of my diet. It's been a…

I was going to suggest talking to a doctor and dietitian. you never know what might be going on, could be a health issue or just a mix of foods that aren't working for you.

Studies have been showing that eating disorders are starting younger and younger. I don't have children myself, but it seems that this is a combination of other girls commenting, watching the adults around them, and advertising and media images little girls see and hear. I'm sure it's a battle to counteract these messages…

keengkong, i think i love you. i just got back from a week at a conference and showed a 5 pound weight gain. i was about to have yet another mid-life crisis simply because it took so dang long for me to lose the 6 pounds i did lose. but now i feel much, much better. you are a god. did i say that already? it's true. thanks…

i'm 205 lbs, 5'4" tall, and am in size 18.

healthy can be any size. i was 135 pounds at 5'4" tall for many years and frankly i was too skinny. 150 or 160 would be better for me. it's all about have good levels of cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and other things, not how much you weigh. my yoga instructor is physically bigger than me but she sure can twist…

Years I heard a speaker talk about the various forms of eating disorders. There was compulsive overeating, anorexia, bulimia, bulimarexia, and obsession with every bit of food you eat. I realized at that point that that was my thing. I didn't think I had an easting disorder until that point.

today already i've skipped a latte, a cookie and a 3 musketeers bar because those calories add up. sigh. but it helps me keep an eye out.

that is a flipping a$$wipe. i dated a guy years ago who picked me up, drove me to his sisters house for an event, spent the night with me at her house, and then the next morning sister and husband leave the house and he tells me he's in love with another woman. and since i'm in the middle of nowhere and have no way home, i…

My mother almost died from her food addiction and found help and serenity using the Overeaters Anonymous program. Saved her life and she was the happiest I ever saw her. She was finally able to live a life that was not taken over by food and it was a beautiful life. Sadly, she died only 3 years after finding this at age 71…

Btw, I am addicted to sugar but am also a recovering alcoholic, still go to AA. The sugar helped me get sober from alcohol and I know I need to get off the sugar but need to balance that with my alcoholism. They say it's what'll kill you first that you work on. My mom achieved wonderful serenity and sobriety in Overeaters…

Katie: Can you post the info here? I'm so grateful to see this thread. I was just visiting a thread about a woman in the UK who is vying to be the fastest woman alive. The responses to that from folks didn't talk about food addiction, just judged her. Food addiction is real and it kills people. My sister just died in…

What I've noticed is that people who may weigh the same as I do, wear a totally different size. Plus, the size charts on websites often do work for me either. The inches on the site may say I'd be in a size 20 (US) but really I'm a size 18 (US). So I know I can't order pants online (shirts I can get away with). At my…

I eat oatmeal with cinnamon, a little bit of vanilla extract and raisins every morning. but now that i've heard the idea of mixing almond butter in it, i immediately jumped to the idea of putting nutella in it. oy. this could be my undoing. i LOVE nutella.

Grew up in Wisconsin. Now live in Washington, DC.

I just lost my sister to her food addiction in February 2011 and my nephew is likely soon to follow her (he is 6'4" and maybe 500 to 600) pounds. I debate whether I might also have a food addiction. My mom turned to Overeaters Anonymous for help (she was also morbidly obese and addicted to food). She got sober, went to a…

I'm about to get the ultra sound to diagnose gallstones. I've been getting a sharp pain in my upper right side after I eat a fatty meal. Yesterday the pain was so bad, I broke out into a cold sweat. I can't do anything about it until I'm done with traveling for work in the next month, so I'm going to have to be very, very…

You know, I thought you were serious too. Tone of voice would've added so much to that one. Guess I can be counted as a dullard too.
I do love when people try to be condescending when a joke flies way over their head. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be such a dullard!
One of my yoga instructors is actually larger than I am and in much better shape (that girl can bend). In this area (Washington, DC) a lot of the folks going to the gym are much younger and thinner. I try to block them out. I'm there for me, not for them.

sounds like not much you can do. try race walking instead. better on the knees and just as effective.

the scale drives me mad, i tell you, mad. so i really should join this.

Got one happening right now. Ms. The office walls are really thin, but I'm going to do all my meetings as conference calls on the speaker phone and talk really, really loud I so would love to go over there and tell her to shut the f up. Does it all the time. Arrrgh.

Here's my real answer: - wit and intelligence (glasses add to that) - kindness and a sense of normal humility (ie, not arrogant) - self confidence and a willingness to take charge when needed and knowing when it's best to just sit back - knowing that that man has my back, no matter what. that one is the biggest turn on of…

hey, when you get to your 40's, all the good ones are taken and apparently looking to hook up with someone besides their wife. it's the most common invite i sadly get nowadays. sigh.

me too. and i don't like sports. i don't expect my man to go shopping with me or to get nails done with me, so i hope it's not expected for me to watch football. :-)

Fruit is good. I know for me, the more fruit (and vegetables) I eat, the more I feel satisfied and the more I lose. I just don't worry about those sugars.

Showing up naked. :-)
