I keep it pretty simple. I save up a bunch of calories for the end of the night (usually not intentionally, but it works out that way), and I always have healthy snacks around to use those calories on. Fruit, nuts, crackers, yogurt...whatever makes you happy ;-) Lots of fruit for the same amount of calories as say, a…

I go to Planet Fitness. It's cheap, and it does the job. I've never felt judged. The staff has actually been ridiculously friendly every step of the way...but a friend once said to me, that when you walk into a gym, you've got to "check your ego at the door", and I chose to take that advice. I've also joined another gym…

thanks...i wouldnt say that i eat it any more than than that, if even that. Just that today i did, and noticed my sodium over 3600! Im already drowning, i drink around 18-22+ cups per day ;-) ...hopefully that helps.

awesome post, great attitude, totally impressed. and as someone who's ridden many a nyc subway, i find it hysterical that anybody should ask you to move...its crowded, tight, and just something you deal with unless somebody is literally stepping on you -- and even then you just deal with it sometimes ;-)

I did this when i first joined. The trainer who was very nice and knowledgeable set up a plan, and some of it, im still doing. I made some adjustments once I realized how I was most comfortable. I'd say its definitely worth doing, and that you can also use the time to ask a bunch of questions. The more time you spend at…

I always bake it. I try different things usually, but i really like chopping or mincing about a clove of garlic per fillet, and then spreading that over the fish. Then maybe some crushed red pepper, turmeric or paprika, and as you mentioned, lemon is awesome :-)

i do log vitamins because i like to see what they add to the nutrients that are tracked. Black coffee, stevia, lightly used spices, gum.

I quit almost four months ago. Cold turkey. Had just gotten over bronchitis. I live with two other smokers, and there was a third staying here at the time. I think it just came down to, no matter how much i didn't want to, i knew i had to. And I made the decision that no matter what, I just wasn't going to smoke. So while…

I'd love to participate if there are any open spots left!

Cottage cheese and greek yogurt are both pretty high in protein, and you can mix them with fruit, granola, or more protein, like flax seeds.

Count it. A calorie is a calorie, liquid or solid. With that said, i don't count black coffee or herbal teas that say zero calories.
-
I log everything, except for black coffee.

I'm by NO means an expert or even a pro, but i would say it sounds like you're exactly on the right track, with the need to incorporate strength training. You're just looking at a percentage. The actual amount of fat lost, im sure is significant, but the percentage (your body composition) has stayed the same. Sounds like…

Get a bag of salad, a couple of cans of tuna, and a light dressing. Pour some salad in bowl. Empty tuna can over salad. Put a serving of the dressing on it. ;-) Easy, fast, tastes good, and if you get a low cal dressing, probably only around 200-250 calories for the whole thing. Or just a mix of a bunch of healthy stuff.…

I go with the philosophy, do your best but don't stress over it. When i'm home, cooking, which is 90+% of the time, i log everything as perfectly as possible. When i'm going out someplace, or eating at somebody else's place, i just do best guesses. I'll search for something similar, usually something from some other…

I quit smoking almost three months ago, joined MFP the next day, and the gym the day after that. I think I used the gym, cooking healthy, and calorie counting to distract myself from smoking. That and gum ;-) But it's sticking, so while what works for one may not work for all, its been a good plan for me.

I forced myself to get into the gym, and found I really enjoy it for the most part. Cardio machines were tough at first. The first night i did the bike, i did about 4 minutes and was done. Then i tried the elliptical, with similar results. But I forced myself to add on a minute at a time until i could comfortable do at…

Hi! I havent eat meat/poultry for 7-8 years, but I do still eat fish at this point. Love sushi. And salmon. And calamari lol However, think im going to give quitting seafood a go soon too, definitely need more veggie friends to share ideas with.

Hi...i started a little less than 2 months ago, down 32lbs, and still have a waaaaayyyyys to go.

I just had this convo with a gym employee, then came on here trying to figure out how to log it :-) she explained to me that it's another low impact machine, a cross between an elliptical and a step climber. She said it works different muscles than the elliptical.

that long list is awesome, thanks!

I can't comment on diet soda (not sure of the content), but my understanding about coffee, is that caffeine actually causes the body to lose water, so you'd probably want to drink a bit more water to go with that. If its decaf, i guess that wouldn't be relevant.

I just made these oatmeal bars, and I really liked them. No added sugar. I substituted the skim milk with almond/coconut milk, and used dates and bananas instead of just dried fruit. http://www.katheats.com/favorite-foods/baked-oatmeal-snack-bars
