She should be VERY proud of herself for making such a great choice and sticking with it! Awesome job!!

one last comment...I've started and stopped exercising many times over the years and I have found that when I go big in the beginning, I tend to fizzle out (or get injured) pretty quick. So, now I'm a start slow and build over time proponent...to me, it is easier that way to build a healthy lifestyle that is sustainable…

from what you've said, he's keeping you at 160 during the whole cardio portion? that is too high in my opinion. intervals, sure, but sustained...that is putting undue pressure on your heart and blood vessels and arteries. I am 44 and 160lbs and, in addition to swimming and walking all week, I ski about once a week with a…

I started with swimming when I was at my heaviest. It is such a good workout period, but the BEST when weight bearing exercise makes your knees hurt.

you look great and so much healthier! WTG!!

I remember making something similar years ago but I think it had cottage cheese in it...I want to try this recipe - I just love pancakes and oatmeal, too, so I bet I will like them!

I haven't read through the replies, so this might be repetitive... but in my experience the best way to lose abdominal fat (aside from the obvious cutting back calories and exercising) is cutting way back on SUGAR (!!) and cutting out diet drinks (cutting out regular soda goes with the cutting back on sugar part). Good…

wow! you look awesome! I bet everyone who hadn't seen you since the last party (assuming it was the same group) was either freaking out or totally didn't recognize you! Way to go!!!!

here is an article that helped me greatly reduce my intake of sweets. I re-read it whenever I start to slip into bad choices (like every month when the hormones kick in!)...if you have time, do read it...it really hits home what sugar does to our bodies...…

that is so great - you should really be proud of your accomplishment! I have a question...what kinds of exercises do you/did you do (in the beginning, as you progressed, and now)?

yum that sounds good! I bet my kids would love it. I might make this for my husband who hates cauliflower and see if I can trick him :) am I devious or what?

these sound hella good... http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=662771 it says to microwave the pb and honey, but you can just stir them together in a saucepan over low/med heat until they blend together and then go ahead as recipe directs...

feel free to add me - my diary is open and I'm determined to log in daily!

ooops I read it again more thoroughly...they actually do mention a basic overview of what the subjects were encouraged to eat so that's good but it would probably be a good idea to see if there were any caloric restrictions or exercise restrictions etc...

I found this study http://www.nutritionandmetabolism.com/content/2/1/35 it limited the carbs to 20... Of course it doesn't give any info as to WHAT THE HECK the participants were eating on a daily basis which is really annoying! I would suggest contacting one of the authors of the study. Also, the references listed at the…

I'm sorry you're so discouraged :( I would second what the other posters suggest especially the one about seeing a doctor to confirm that it's actually body fat that's the problem. Also have your blood sugar (specifically your A1C) checked - because if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic believe me your belly stores that fat…

I promise you, no one is zoning in on your arms the way you yourself are. I'm serious. They are looking at how fit and healthy you look - the big picture ya know? also, that thing I know you do when you're standing in front of the mirror? you know, flex your bicep and then jiggle the skin under your arms...:)...do you ever…

I don't know how old your kids are, but something that we have that is great exercise for my kids AND me is a mini trampoline which I got at a local grocery/one stop shop place here for about $35. The kids take turns jumping on it when they watch TV and when I can't get in a big walk for whatever reason, I jog (I don't…

keep up the good work - you are doing great!!!!

this is an interesting thread. here's my two cents. the bar/club scene...in that environment it's all about looks looks looks...women (and men) spend a bunch of time getting themselves looking good and then it's like a flock of birds displaying their plumage vying for attention...attracting it...rejecting it...confidence…

that, too! ^^ my mom is very good (this all started about 10 years ago) about having her levels checked regularly to make sure her medication is the correct dosage and adjusting accordingly...

My mom has grave's disease and had the same procedure as you. I am happy to report that she did not get fat and she doesn't even exercise (she does watch her calories, though). If you eat as clean as you can, keep your calories down and exercise, I promise you, you will be fine and you'll FEEL GREAT, too!

This is pretty much how I make popcorn when I have it! I decided to switch because I was not happy with the ingredient list on the 94% fat free microwave stuff - it's kinda freaky! So, I put 3 Tbsp of kernels in a brown lunch bag, NO OIL, roll the top and set the microwave for 3 minutes. when I take it out, I will…
