I'm not sure, I can't really count calories accurately cause I don't eat packaged food. I just eat food that my mom cooks for me.

Dammit!

How long will it take? I already have a lot of muscle.
-
Good advice, thank you.

Okay, well I've made pretty good gains in muscle over the past 4 months, but now at 22-24% BF, its definitely time to get that down to a point where I can see my abs or something. I probably need to get my BF to 10% to see abs, so that means a lot of cutting. Hence, a long cut and a lot of muscle lost, which leads me to…

You're not training for strength (although that could be achieved with it), you're training for mass. So high volume (lots of sets between 16-24 sets) for each body part with reps between 6-12. Personally I do 4 sets per exercise with rep range 12, 10, 8, 6 increasing weight progressively each set. IE for chest I'll do…
What resistance training program are you using to do this?
If varies, usually a fairly low volume strength cycle, like 5-8 sets of varying intensity levels.

What is IF?

This is the gray area that many people speak about, like there is a magic way to do both things, if you're in some ZONE of correct exercise and calorie consumption. In my opinion, more research needs to be done about this, because its hard for most people to do both.

Yeah, 3 month bulk and 3 month cut is ok, but it usually seems to leave me with very little muscular gains after the 3 month cut, its like all the muscle I gained disappears, leaving me in a permanent see-saw of HELL. :)

what I've been getting is increased muscular figure with a lot of residual body fat. I'm currently over 22% Bodyfat I believe.

The outpouring of excitement this topic has caused is overwhelming. :)

The women in the middle has nice boobs... You said to be honest!!!

It is only the soul that matters!

Why are the last 10 lbs the hardest, is there a scientific reason for that?
-
There are many causes of dizziness... one common reason is that certain lower body exercises cause your circulation to leave your upper body, and you pass out as you can't get enough oxygen... also, poor posture during exercise can cause altered breathing patterns..

As Tom Hanks said in that movie, "There is no crying in baseball".. This applies to working out too :)

Its CRAZY that there are so many differing opinions on this subject! It blows my mind that there really is no agreed upon answer, at least amongst the general population. Either we as normal people are ignorant of the facts, or science really does not know the answer either... I'm more confused now then before :)

Well the importance of eating quality calories is a no-brainer... that isn't really why I started this thread. The key to this topic: Can you eat SURPLUS calories and lose fat, if you're lifting weights and eating only the right foods? SURPLUS calories is the real question here..
-
Oh, and to give you an example of my weightlifting routine: Bench Press: 3 sets x 5 Bicep Curls: 1 set x 5 Rows: 3 sets x 5 Squat: 3 sets x 5 All done with heavy weights!!! BEEFCAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I guess I am sedentary then... I'm even sitting down as I type this... :) Thanks again! And thanks to others who gave advice..
-
Thanks Tonya, this was very helpful... Yes, I am lifting very heavy for those 5 reps... sometimes I only do 3-4 reps cause I'm working on strength... Also, you classified me as Sedentary instead of Low Active? I walk 30 minutes per day, except for my lifting days... Eventually I'd like to walk that much even on my lifting…

Can some expert give me a professional estimate on how many calories I burn per week, and how much I should eat? A professional guess is better then nothing..
-
Thanks! I learned lot.. Gonna start another thread about my specific goals..
-
Yes, clearly its better to exercise and eat healthy food choices...I guess I should phrase the question a bit differently... I think my first post missed the point.. Lets say my BMR is 2000 calories, and I burn 1000 in the gym, for a total of 3000 calories.. Is it better to burn 3000 calories a day and eat 1500 calories..…
