  • I think both are fine. They are both fairly accurate units of measure. A lot of stuff on MFP is listed in both. Personally, I like grams because I can usually search for foods that have their nutritional info sourced from the USDA, which is only listed in grams. Also, pretty much anything with a Nutrition Information label…
  • As far as tips, start it slow. Some people have a hard time getting on it and are starving all day till their eating window hits. If that's not the case for you, then jump on it. I personally don't eat till 1 PM and stop by 9 PM. That doesn't mean I'm eating the whole time, but rather I have a meal at 1, and my dinner…

  • I was like 280 back in high school. Id rather not be anywhere near there again. I really dont know how low I can go, but Im at 195 right now. Aiming for 170.
  • Man, you guys eat like kings. I mostly make my meals pretty basic. Like raw veggies and some hummus with some slow cooked chicken breast in whatever sauce Im in the mood in for (like m exican mole, marinara, or standard chicken soup). I gotta take some notes!
  • Im kinda quiet, but I try to leave a positive comment whenver I can. 120 down, 30ish to go!
  • Yeah, and even a lot of bar codes scan as the wrong item. I'll buy a sandwich from Safeway and it will say its from Freshtake or Publix. Or I'll scan a can of something and give me incorrect nutritional info compared to the can, even if its "verified".
  • Its funny because people ask how you do it? They want you to tell them youre doing some kind of "lifehack". Its Keto, its intermittent fasting, its cutting out certain foods, its eating certain foods, its working out, etc. No, all that stuff can help, but at its core its all calorie counting thats doing the real work.
  • Using an old, barely working Fitbit One. Mostly because I dont want to wear a watch on my wrist, especially at work where it would take a beating. I can keep my One in my pocket. Sadly, they dont seem to make anything like it anymore. That aside, it seems to track my steps well enough. I mostly use it to track my daily…
  • I always go for the USDA ones. And then I compare the entries to make sure theyre consistent, and I go with that. Helps that theyre usually listed in grams, too, so I just weigh everything in grams. If the entry has ounces, or whole fruit/veg, I skip those. Those are just too unreliable.
  • You could make a hummus out of it. Add some tahini, cumin, garlic and chili powder. Pinto bean hummus.
  • Lately, I seem to start whatever I'm cooking with a mirepoix. Adds a good bit of bulk to the meal without adding too many calories. Especially all that celery.
  • I've been more focused on overall calorie intake and not so much on macros, as I'm trying to lose a ton of weight. With that, I don't want to feel hungry all the time either, so I eat a ton of veggies in order to be able to eat a lot more volume and feel full. I'll usually start my meals with some finger food, namely…
  • Damn, dude. You look great. 100 lbs lost is huge! Im on the same boat myself. Started at 320 and Im at 205 right now, but I still have a gut to work on. You seriously look shredded. Im trying to get to 190 or 180 and I hope I look half as good as you do.
  • The whole reason these fad diets/cleanses work is because they basically make you cut out processed foods and eat healthy while replacing a meal with something healthy. Read the actual rules of the diet and you'll see they kind of trick you into eating healthy with the broth being the gimmick that anchors you to think…
  • Damn! Thats insane. Nice work and looking good! I had one friend on MFP who had a 1000+ days logged, but she started a new account as her goals had changed since she first started logging on MFP.
  • Hello there.

  • Why are you trying to avoid soda? Is it because you'd rather not have the caffeine, or because you're avoiding the sugar? In either case, there's a few solutions. Diet soda is the obvious one. I know people like to hate on it because its not "healthy" (with no real evidence as to the true health effects of artificial…
  • I use a unique password/username for MFP, so I havent had any issues so far. All my sensitive accounts like banking and shopping are all completely different. Not mention I dont associate any private information like my real name or anything like that with MFP.
  • If Im really hungry, Ill take a nap. Weirdly enough, I always wake up with no hunger.
  • Stuart Ashen and Steve1989 are always eating super expired stuff, and theyre still around. Worst that can probably happen is youll puke. Unless youre trying stuff in which the packaging/container has clearly been compromised. Then botulism is potentially a problem.

  • With the weather getting nicer, fruit is my go to right now. Had some seriously sweet pineapple the other day. And my sister brought me a water melon the other day. Sprinkle a little Tajin on that bad boy, mmm!
  • Nice work boss! Keep it up. Youll feel amazing by the years end!
  • Im currently trying to lose weight, so the number is pretty important to me. I try to not get discouraged when I gain, though. Im pretty aware of how my body's weight changes with how much I eat and drink. And when I do have an up, as long as I didnt splurge on calories, I usually know a big drop is coming. But if I did…
  • When I was weighing weekly, Id pick a day after a workout. Wound up being Tuesday for me. I currently just weigh daily and just deal with the ups and downs.
  • Depends on how low calorie youre talking. I usually try to keep my breakfast between 300-500 calories, or so. For breakfast I like having a low fat, high protein, and modest carb meal. However, I gotta have something sweet in there, or it just doesn't feel like breakfast. My go-tos are stuff like plain Greek yogurt with…
  • Diet Coke does taste a little different from Coke Zero, but its worth a try if you havent had it in a long time. Especially since they have caffeine free Diet Coke. To me, they all taste pretty identical. But Im not much of a cola connoisseur. But really, most sodas that arent cola are usually caffeine free, with a few…
