Humans in the western world evolved to eat the milk of other animals because it was one of the only available food sources around: goats and cows. To say that its "wrong" or "Unnatural" to eat milk is silly. Did you know ants heard aphids and milk fluid off of them to consume? We aren't the only animal that does this per…

If you're only trying to loose ten pounds, then I would stick with the sure thing: diet and exercise. There's no need to load up on all these "fat burning" pills. I've tried a few, most of them dont work at all and put stress on your liver. The only thing I take is a multivitamin and green tea extract. It would be better…

Folic acid is so good for you in many other ways. I'm going to make sure its int the next multivitamin I buy!

I hope you have the reciept for it, because the money you spent on it is worth way more than the pill  You'd have to pay me to take that stuff, and even then I'd toss it in the garbage.

I started my journey December 8 2009 and its almost my aniversary...And I've lost 71 pounds. I could have lost more too if I kept exercising but school had gotten in the way. Just stick to it and it'll snowball!

I can calculate a goal for you if you know your body fat percentage now, and your goal body fat percentage. I dont follow BMI because with my stout, thick frame at BMI's ideal weight I would probably be considered unhealthy.

i only shower every other day. (unless I'm working out). I cant afford to usually, as drying my thick hair is a half day-all day affair usually. between showers I may wash up in the sink if I need it, like on my face and arms but I agree with the article. People often make problems by bathing too much...I have a friend who…

this is an awesome post. I wish I could add it to my profile!

get ready to surrender your soul in any retail business..especially high-dollar retail. They want you to sellsellsell and do anything to make a dollar, even if it means lying to a customer. I've worked at many retail places and I think the key to being a good salesperson is being honest and open with the customer. when I…

I've decided that I'm going to have a nice meal and enjoy everything. I'm not going to overeat, and I'm going to make sure I get equal amounts of everything...that means no heaping on the mashed potatoes and leaving the veggie slaw off my plate. Just remember moderation! Its OK to have a big meal every once and a while,…

those are just default settings, and its possible to change your ratios, I personaly think the default carb percentage is too high. You should be eating more protien, your protien intake is probably fine. You definently should try to be right at your MFP calorie limit though, but dont worry if it tells you you have carbs…

I remember getting my lisence renewed about 4 years ago. I was 250 and completely ashamed, so I told them i was 230, a weight from highschool. I was a freshman in college and my weight shot up so much I was too embarassed to tell the truth. Now I'm 40 pounds lighter than the lie-weight. You have no idea what an inspiration…

Oh! And companion plants, like I said the marigolds and tomatoes...here is a list of other things that help eachother grow and repel bugs! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_companion_plants Get some synergy going in your garden lol

plant tomatoes against the side of your house. the house provides radiated warmth that the tomatoes love, but they dont get singed by the sun too badly because its partial shade next to your house. Tomatoes like moist warmth, not blazing heat. Make sure you plant marigolds around your tomato plants to keep the bugs off,…

i just got finished reading an article about how chronic dehydration is linked to colitis, diverticulitis, hypertension, kidney stones, asthma and allergy symptoms and even depression. My step sister drinks absolutely no water and is convinced she gets enough hydration from gatorade, coke and southern sweet tea. I've been…

Yayyyyy Tami! Way to go!

I have one of these at home. It keeps me on track for the most part, but I never hope for an absolutely accurate reading..just something to guide me. Calipers are more accurate, but you have to know where to take measurements and I just haven't got time for it. The electonic body fat analyzer works by sending a weak…

To me, shopping has been one of the best parts of my weight loss journey lol  THough I've started shopping at old navy to save some on the budget..why spend $$$ when you're just going to shrink right out of it? :glasses:

I do a calculation with body fat percentage. Right now I'm 35%, I use that to find my lean weight: Current Weight - (current weight * 0.35) = Lean weight so I'll do my own weight for an example: 194 - (194 * 0.35) 194 - 67.9 126.1 Finding your ideal: My ideal weight would be me at 22% body fat. You can find idea body fat…

if YOU'RE comfortable and YOU feel healthy where you are, then STOP. If you do want to get to that goal, then keep going. There will be other stores you can go to. BMI isn't really a good indicator of weight if that's what you're using. I have a large frame, and where as BMI wants me to be 115-150, I think 165-170 will be…

Congratulations on your success! Good luck with your marathon! :drinker:

Well he's not a very good scientist, the experiment isnt over yet. Wait untill all of that weight comes back in the next two months. Then you can log your data and explain that eating junk really ISNT good for you. An empty calorie is NOT equal to a wholesome calorie. He can eat all the McNuggets and Doritos he wants, its…

A work in progress, also now I'm down 3 pounds from the final pic. I'm getting there! this is a great thread.

The more stress you put on your body, the more it resists change and tries to conserve. This is why doing it gradually and making it a lifestyle change really works. There has to be mental change. Leading a healthier life doesnt just come in a small amount of time...it comes gradually and builds essential wisdom in the…

This is generally what I do too, the warmup gets your heart rate up enough to burn calories while you lift weights. I usually do circuit and work my whole body on weights, and I use higher weights and less reps to try to gain more muscle. Women are often afraid of turning into a body builder, so they 'tone' and use small…

I'm doing better on the elliptical too, I used to have to stop and rest if I was doing 15 or 20 minutes, but now I can go 30 minutes without having to stop. Keep workin on it!

Callipers are troublesome because you cant always tell where you measured last or where it is appropriate to measure. Its easier to let someone else who's trained do that to take your measurements for you. If you want an electronic at home device, stick with the handheld ones, I have an Omron body fat analyzer and as long…

The "Medicine" basicly uses negative reinforcement to train your eating habits. It binds to fat molecules and makes them impossible to absorb, so yes it does block fat. But the fat has to go somewhere doesn't it? Alli basicly will make you crap your pants if you dont adhere to its strict diet plan. But really sugar is…

lots of the subs are already in the database here. I always eat turkey on wheat with cheddar, but drop the cheese for less calores. My sinful sandwiches are the chicken pizziola and the buffalo chicken (with light ranch) weighing in at approx. 450 calories apiece, which is a generaly good meal for me. As long as its under…
