I've recently read that coffee first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, suppresses your metabolism! With that said, having a cup before your workout can help you work harder and longer. It's more the additives we have in our coffee that make it less of a diet option. Cream, sugar, whip, fake sweeteners,…

I was 22 once... you can add me :-)

A Mother's body will naturally hold on to extra baby weight while nursing. When I stopped nursing (at 12 months), the weight started to come off without me changing my diet and activity. You should NOT "diet" while breastfeeding. What you *can* do is eat clean, and start working out. But make sure you're getting enough…

That's awesome! We went to RL this week, too, for my son's birthday. Usually for special occasions I will have a drink, or dessert (or both). I'm proud to say that not only did I have No drink, and No dessert, I also ordered a grilled fish and rice dish instead of fried stuff! Yay for small successes!!

No, that's a healthy weight. And we're all different. We carry our weight differently from one another (even two people the same height and weight can look like they're not the same). It sounds like they're not being very supportive. Are they envious of your success? Ignore the negativity and surround yourself with…

I'm back, too! Only the last few times I didn't get involved with the community. I'm a little older than you (33), and my kids are older than yours (13 & 9), I work full time and have recently rekindled my affair with running. I'm 13# down in a total 53# goal. Add me, we'll work at it together!

Add me, I'm not new, but new to the community.

If you're eating clean, and listening to your body (like, whether you're still hungry or lightheaded, etc,) then I would ignore the message on the MFP page. I think they just throw that in there for legal reasons.

Don't Give up!!! You're almost half way there! If you give up then you're throwing away all your hard work up to now. What a waste! EVERY # IS A SUCCESS!! Don't be so hard on yourself! It took time for you to get to the point you're at now, so you can't expect to lose it all overnight. Be patient. (Easier said than done,…

Don't let this discourage you! First, it's unlikely you actually put on 12 lbs of weight in that short time (unless you were eating a LOT more than usual, and all bad stuff), but keep some of the following things in mind: 1. Always use the same scale (my scale is several lbs off from my Dr's scale, so I don't pay attention…

A little late... but I'm in! Friend me, and we'll motivate each other.

They may respect the mini fridge if they don't know about it... disguise it by keeping hidden in the back of your closet, or under a dust cover behind a chair... not ideal, but better than nothing?

Hi! I am working on losing 52 lb (already lost 13), Feel free to add me! We can do this together!

I've just started running again in the last month (I have done it for years, but on-and-off), and I'm toying with the idea of adding some 5k or 10k to my goals. You can add me, we can ALL use encouragement.

First of all, be positive. ALOT of the problem is in your head. You need to change your mindset, and your inner dialogue. Eliminate the negative thoughts, the self loathing, the nasty comments in your sub-conscious. If you wouldn't say it to your best friend, then you shouldn't say it to yourself. Negativity is toxic and…

We LOVE avocados. We eat them on toast with a little salt, they're SO good in place of mayo on a sandwich / burger, chopped into a salad, mixed into salsa for nachos, mashed and made into guac, or to top off baked salmon... oh yum! I eat them daily!

Not all calories are created equal, and not all sugars are created equal. If your sugar is coming from fruits or from non-starchy veg, I wouldn't worry too much about it, (although if you're trying to lose, then you shouldn't be going too crazy on the fruit and sweet veggies). It's the empty calories and added sugars you…

Raw, crunchy veggies with a couple Tbsp hummus (Spicy Red Pepper is my fave). Kids love Brussels sprouts roasted in the oven with a little coconut oil. Heck, ANY veg is yummy after roasting in the oven! Pureed Cauliflower is really good with butter and garlic (almost like mashed potatoes). I Love snacking on baked Kale…

I agree with the others, Don't skip! Letting yourself get too hungry is setting yourself up for a binge. Try to have a very light, but filling dinner, go for a walk (or other activity) to make room. I like to use MFP to help plan. For example, this morning I was craving a caramel macchiato. If I continued eating my normal…

Totally! I journal my day the night before, especially if I have plans like dinner out. When I know I'll be going out for dinner, I try to plan for it by going on the restaurant's online menu to map out what I'll order and thenI can plan the earlier part of my day to accomodate for the calories I want to use up when I go…

You don't have to get your daily water only from fluids, water dense foods count towards your total, too! Think about how juicy a watermelon is, or salads, etc. The link below shows the percentages: http://www.thefruitpages.com/contents.shtml Even think of soups and salads, smoothies...

OAMC. Once A Month Cooking. Choose your healthy meals, and then once a month do a cooking weekend where you buy your ingredients and prep them (chop, saute, etc) all at once and then the next day you assemble the recipes into freezer/oven safe containers. If a monthly menu seems too daunting, try it once a week. I make our…

Remove stem (and gills, if you don't like them) of 1 portabello mushroom. Fill with chopped veggies and salsa. Top with a little bit of cheese. Bake in a hot oven until cheese bubbles and starts to brown.
