I like the low-glycemic quality they have, and for me are a "better" alternative than some of the other bars out there. They taste pretty decent but they are expensive.

The "Cookie" Diet was by far the worst I've tried. Didn't lose a thing and couldn't stick with it long term, cookies or no! I've also done Weight Watchers, tried Nutri-System for, like, a DAY (AWFUL food!) and pretty much everything in between. Finally found something that worked to lose 150 pounds and keep it off!

Welcome Carol! This community is very supportive I know you will do great!

Ack I can't do math OR read. Nevermind what I said above, for some reason (I'm blonde and ADD) by the time I got back to my computer in my response (got called away for a minute) I was thinking you had 6-7 months to do this in, not 4. I made myself look REALLY dumb right there. I have seen a man lose 200 lbs in a year…

That is certainly great motivation to adopt a healthy lifestyle! Welcome!

Welcome! It's awesome that you are motivated to change your life! Regarding soda, I simply switched to Diet Soda and drink a Coke Zero every day!

Mmmmmm......Nutella...... You said it keeps you full for a long time, so if you really want to keep it just manage by only eating 600 calories throughout the rest of the day! Easy! 300 for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, 300 for dinner. Don't see a problem here!

Love this! Exactly what I was thinking. So much of what I hear this time of year is "I'll get serious AFTER the holidays, because I want to be able to have whatever I want on Thanksgiving and Christmas!" My answer to them is "Ok, that is 2 days out of the 61 days between November 1st and January 1st. So have your 2 days!…

If you want a good read about how man is very adaptable and as long as he is eating "food" he can survive and thrive on pretty much anything read "Diet Cults: The Surprising Fallacy at the Core of Nutrition Fads and a Guide to Healthy Eating for the Rest of Us" by Matt Fitzgerald. I like what he espouses, which is "Healthy…

I find it interesting that your goal weight is 106, (BMI under 18.5) which is clinically defined as UNDERWEIGHT. Why 106? Is it because at 105 you would meet the CLINICAL definition of ANOREXIC (BMI 17.5 or under)? Either way it is not a healthy goal.

So you weighed about 60 pounds? And you weigh about 90 pounds now? You are a healthy weight NOW. With regards to your focus and your binge eating, I wish that I could convince you that life is more than what you weigh and what you eat. I do think you need professional help with your Clinical Eating Disorder, and none of us…

I'm sorry you are experiencing frustration! First you may want to consider that everyone has a different metabolism and just because the "formula" puts you at a BMR of 1653 doesn't necessarily make it so. I am currently in a Masters Program in Obesity Prevention and Management and the stuff I am learning about metabolism…

Totally doable! =) I've seen it with my own eyes.

Fitting in to my Wedding Dress after 23 years of NOT fitting into it! 150 pounds lost makes a difference!

Medifast makes some GREAT high-protein (11g/serving) low-carb (>16 g/serving) products that are around 100 calories. Examples are: Soft Bake Brownies, Soft Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cinnamon Pretzels, Soft Serve Ice Cream in Mango, Peanut Butter or Chocolate Mint, many flavors of Crunchy or Chewy Bars, Hot Cocoa,…

I lost 150 pounds AFTER I turned 40, and have maintained a healthy BMI now for 2 years. I'm 44 now. You can check my profile for my before/after picture.

Yes that is very possible, do you have a formal plan (diet) that you are going to follow or simply the MyFitnessPal theory of "eat less, exercise more, lose weight"? I've seen similar height/weight people do that in 3 months on more formal plans.
-
Congratulations on your success! I'd love to be your friend, feel free to add me! I lost 150 pounds, and am maintaining my health by eating right and running or swimming just about every day!
-
This is correct.

Thank you for your concern. I'm not sure what you mean by "that is not healthy for anyone". I am 5 foot 3 and my BMI is 22. A current size 2 is what used to be a size 6, 10-15 years ago. It's called vanity sizing. And I hope it doesn't freak you out that I have a few dresses in a size 0, and they fit also.

See next post, I forgot to "Quote"

I am in maintenance now, and although I do continue to weigh every few days to keep an eye on the numbers I mostly rely on my jeans. They are not stretchy, they are size 2 Tommy Hilfigger Jeans, and they tell me the absolute truth every time I put them on especially straight out of the dryer LOL. Muffin top=time to get…

Harris-Benedict equation is a good guideline, but all of our bodies are different in their ACTUAL calorie expenditure so it sounds like you may need to revisit your calorie needs. This isn't simply an "eat less" or "exercise more" response, it is a thoughtful response based on the information you are giving that you…

I don't buy into the whole "too aggressive" thing, provided your goals are healthy. People have their theories about what it good and what is bad, what is "sustainable" and what is not, and I think the most important thing is to choose something that fits your lifestyle and meets the goals you have. I don't have to "learn…

Welcome! I don't live anywhere near you, but I love running too, and I'd love to be friends!

I wanted to THRIVE not just SURVIVE. I wanted to be a model of health for my son who needed that so desperately in his life. I wanted to CREATE something AMAZING. So I began creating Optimal Health in my life, and a side effect of that was losing 150 pounds.

Welcome! You can do it! I love that you want to create health in your life!

Wow! Great job! You are amazing! Those weight loss shows don't have anything over you. I'll bet you look fit and healthy, as opposed to "formerly obese" like most of the contestants on those shows end up looking. You have some great stats with your % body fat and your pounds of lean body mass that you preserved in the…
