While actively trying to lose weight, I try to stay below 100g of carbs a day, splitting them between most meals (so I'm not eating all of my carbs in one meal). I intend to go up to around 150g carbs once I'm in range of maintenance I try for most of my carbs to come from vegetables and fruit, monitoring and moderating my…

It would depend on what one means by 'meaningless'. If someone believes that they are measuring their calories such that they are precisely accurate to the nth degree to what they ate, well... it's not that precise. There's a real margin error. Can't be eliminated. Humans are involved. This on top of it's actually not a…

With WHOLE milk 14 ml difference is only 9 calories (rounded for the fraction averse. It's actually 9.2) Do people actually believe that even if they are weighing everything that they eat (which is quite an accomplishment. Bravo if someone does this) that they are actually going to have a margin of error less than 9.2…

Sounds pretty presumptious to me. Someone somewhere went to the trouble of looking up a food and logging it into the database, then someone else whines that it's too much trouble to do elementary multiplication or division much less go to the bother of looking up the food item and logging it into the database themselves in…

What does it even matter? The fraction always exists. Is it simply reassuring when the manufacturer ignores the fraction and rounds the number off for you? You can ignore the fraction and round the number too. I mean, just pulling out the jar of Smuckers peanut butter in my cabinet, the nutrition label states it as:…

And... et voila! Shopaholics rejoice. They may be bankrupt but they probably aren't naked... so they're cured! :D

I love ice cream. I love chocolate. But that doesn't even look appetizing. (In fact the second photo could put me off of both it's so UNappealing in appearance. It looks gross. What in the heck is that combo anyway?) Seek food photographer for more appealing photo.

Then you have to define 'what is the correct tool' because it will be based on what the heck you're using it for. If you want to have some sort of precise weight for the purpose of figuring out calories that's fine (with the understanding that just as someone above listed, overall weight may also not be entirely accurate…

You don't count the air. You know that your broccoli is in fact less than a true 'cup' and live with that knowlege. Life has some uncertainty to it. What I'd like to know more about are the people who must carry scales around in their pockets such that they can weigh everything that they eat. At home or when packing lunch…

5'-10" and large frame (7" wrist). My goal weight is 175, primarily because when I weighed that I could easily wear a size 10 and maintained that weight for a very long time (whereas when I dropped to 165 I was constantly battling to stay there). Though, looking back, I'm rather saddened that in college I weighed 150 and…

1 cup = 8 FLUID ounces. 1 cup of something solid such as flour or pasta is a volume measurement (it occupies approximately that amount of space) and is not a weight measurement. No, it is not as exact as weighing something in grams, but then I don't carry a scale with me everywhere I go, either.)
-
Personally I like having volumetric sizes available and not just grams. Grams are great when I'm someplace where I can weigh my food (i.e. at home) but it's pretty useless when I'm out and about, whereas I have a pretty good eye for volume and can pretty closely figure if I'm at 1/2cup, 1Tbs, etc. It's NOT as exact as…

To me it tastes like Creomulsion cough syrup...

Pretty much just what works for me. I do try to eat whole foods and cook my own rather than buying processed more often than not, but that's not saying that I never eat processed, because I do. Conversely, I don't make excessive effort to buy everything organic, though I do read labels, trying to reduce unnecessary stuff.…

The MFP number is based on the recommended daily allowance for added sugar, but there's no way to break out the sugar of fruits etc. from the added sugar (that said, all sugar is sugar for the body, though sugar in actual fruit is bound with fiber so it metabolizes a bit slower) so saying the MFP number is based simply on…

There's little need (nutritionally) to buy everything organic. However, it's not a terrible idea for things where you actually eat the skin (such as apples) reducing the exposure to pesticides.

70% dark chocolate melted and mixed with greek yogurt. Delicious.

Vegetables. And you can also do starches like sweet potatoes.

I think it's sad that someone denies themselves many healthy, delicious foods because there's a world of tasty vegetables and cuisines out there that they're missing. That said, you can lose weight without having a wide range of food. Just track your macros and eat accordingly at a calorie deficit.

5'-10 1/2". If I ever go below a size ten the sleeves on things are too short.

^ This.

Among other things.

I would say that unless there's some sort of medical issue (allergy, lactose intolerance, etc) or a psychological one (in which case addressing it would require the advise of someone other than a random internet poster). You should work on broadening your palette. There's a world of good, healthy, flavorful food that…

From my few years on earth and a couple of months on this forum, it's apparent that some people perpetuate sexist stereotypes or are (perhaps?) sexist themselves without possibly recognizing it.

It's a really difficult number to meet. I usually go over (and I'm okay with that), but I keep it around on the log as a quixotic goal. There are actually the odd, rather rare days where I meet it.

Check your macros. Nutrition is important. And try a Biotin (vitamin) supplement. Biotin can be helpful.

I wondered this too. But just in case OP is serious... It truly is not a question of whether carbs are "good" or "bad". That's kind of like asking whether sunlight is "good" or "bad" . Sunlight is your best source of Vitamin D, something essential that you NEED, and I bet most of us kind of like sunlight. Plus, if you have…

You don't go bald, your hair gets thin. It happens, and it happens to anorexics (but it doesn't have to go that far. You just have to end up with a vitamin b dificiency for it happen).

What MFP is looking at is your net calories, not just your food calories. If your food calories are set for you to eat 1400 calories that means that at 1400 calories you should be losing weight, as the calorie deficit to lose 1-2lbs a week is built in based on what you logged as your desired goal. So if it's set for you to…

If you have the occasional day below 1200, that happens, but you really shouldn't plan for most of your days to be below 1200 calories. You need proper nutrition. (Sure, you can lose weight eating very low calories... but your hair can also begin falling out {That's what happened to my sister). That can happen due to poor…
