They don't have to list it as "genetically modified". Genetic modification is a specific process, don't use that process, you don't have to call it that. Unfortunately, genetically modified is actually a more precise method of creating new strains than what they were doing. What they would do was expose the seeds and…

So true of cats. And, I have to say, given the way that my dog loves Babybel cheeses, if she had opposable thumbs and knew how to make the stuff, she totally would. (You can't even remove a babybel from the refrigerator without a sudden case of dog poucing on you. ) Have to say that I'm less than wholly happy with…

I do. It doesn't really change your calorie intake, but it can't hurt, right?

You can set MFP to show you the carbs in what you eat, if you want to know. You can go to "goals" and customize. As for reducing down to 60g carbs, simply avoiding flour and added sugar will get you almost all of the way there...which is basically South Beach (keep your veggies and servings of fruit, avoid highly refined…

Totally agree. When I get a craving for hamburgers, I want one that I like better than Big Macs. Heck, even if sticking with 'fast food hamburgers' there are ones that I like better than Big Macs.

That's what it looks like from the bleacher seats (I'm not a 'clean' eater but don't consider myself anti-"clean" eating either. To each their own). Granted, this could be a misimpression based on numbers of .gifs posted.

I have to admit that I saw "Fox News" and gave the article a pass, simply being grateful that it wasn't that same sort of bogus fear-mongering article as someone listed in another thread associating Pepsi with fetal stem cells. But I have to agree that any phrasing such as "you probably need more carbs and less protein"…

Used to drink a lot of it. A lot. Stopped drinking it a couple of years ago. Didn't gain a pound after stopping, so it apparently wasn't helping me drop weight. Don't even miss the stuff. I thought quitting would be impossible but it turned out not to be difficult at all.

Wow. Great job!

If you find the solution you have to share. (Though I love melting a square of dark chocolate and mixing it with 2% plain yogurt) .

But if you suffer from lactose intolerance it might make you wish you were dead... :)

I haven't eliminated sausage. I don't eat it every day and I weigh it when I do eat it so that I know how much, but it actually works for me on days I'm running late and need a grab and go low carb breakfast. (I'm not on a low carb diet in general but I've noticed that carbs for breakfast make me hungry faster, so I avoid…

Unfortunately the answer will be -- it depends. Metabolic syndrome with insulin resistance? Yeah, limiting carbs/sugar has some advantages in that situation. Work out a great deal, burning off stores of glycogen? You actually need the carbs or it will impede performance. Personally, I avoid processed sugar but don't mind…

I don't think I'd have to wait until the next day. Probably a bit over an hour (coconut cream pie does the same. I'm just masochist enough to still eat coconut cream pie. :)

Halleluja! The Venn diagram of the perpetual Clean/IIFYM "debate" has an ephemeral glimpse of consensus and overlap. Not that it'll stop the pie fight...

I usually use Conecuh, but I don't know that it's available outsideof the region where it is made. Roll Tide or War Eagle, whichever your preference might be. :)

Oops. Somehow this doubleposted.

^^^ This. (And as far as I can tell, it would be a mistake to call this a 'debate.' It seems like bunch of very, very determined people talking at or passed one another with the belief that if they repeat something just one more time they'll 'win.')

Appreciate the measured tone and reasonable approach. Wish there was more of the same on these boards.

I know. Is that price for aged Kobe beef or something? On sale, Angus ribeye is frequently $9.99 around here with the regular price for ribeye, sirloin, etc. somewhere between $11.99 - $15, depending on the cut. Only something like filet mignon or veal is regularly above that in my area (and I'm not talking Walmart, which…

But then I'd be living off of rice, beans and scrambled eggs. I eat my fair share of scrambled eggs, but I like a little more variety. I'm a big proponent of eat whatever works for you. Different people, different tastes, different lifestyles. To each their own. That said, I gave up boxed cerals ages and ages ago, not…

Funny because it is true.

I think MFP is actually a good place to start. In your set-up you say that your macros are set at 40% protein, 30% fat and 30% carbs with your overall calories being 1,910 calories per day. In addition to percentages, the ap will list those percentage as an actual number of projected grams of protein, fat, and carbs that…

LOL! Bravo, sir! Bravo.

I've never tried it, but if that's the case, can't say that I'd be particularly surprised.

After having watched Gasland 2.0 last week, I'm thinking if there's fracking near an aquifer, there's eventual water contamination -- regardless of regulations. From internal memos of companies involved in fracking -- 10% of wells fail at installation. 50% fail within five years. And they have no idea or way to fix them.…
