  • Never had a weakness for sweets...until I start eating them! Then I can't stop.! But I never crave sweets, its fried salty foods.
  • I have a Fitbit so I look to get 10,000 steps a day. Otherwise, look to move around in the office as much as you can, do desk workouts (like wall squats and chair dips), sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness_articles.asp?id=980 Also park far away in the stores, walk whenever possible. Get to the gym whenever possible but it…
  • Yes I believe I have Hashimotos based on experience. I have never been stable and I also have other autoimmune issues like gluten issues. They just don't test for Hashimotos here because the end result is the same...you need constant monitoring like I do
  • I had a Sparkpeople device, a Fitbit One, and now I am on my second Fitbit Flex. I have also had Garmin running watches that I sold because it 1)din't sync properly. 2)isn't a step counter. 3) Had to wear a chest strap. 4) didin't track sleep. I would get a Charge HR if it wasn't so BULKY! At least with the flex I can…
  • Chips are my next one after popcorn, then fries!!
  • I actually like a lot of the things people hate on here LOL!! BUT somenoe said avocado tastes like dirt...I disagree! I LOVE avocado I think its buttery and smooth with a lettuce taste. What tastes like dirt to me is BEETS!! I cannot like beets, no matter how much I try!! I taste dirt and want to vomit!! Even pickled, and…
  • Stress is not your friend! It creates weakness and junk cravings and weight gain. First, how can you manage the stress??
  • Are you breastfeeding?? Because you shouldn't be tying to lose now if that's the case. Even if not, it isn't natural to lose with an infant. Your body wants to store to support the infant. Patience! Do the right things and eventually it will come.
  • There is nothing wrong with living you life. Try to track ahead for the day so you know what you can have, so if it is a big drinking day, have a lot of salad and lean protein for meals like fish and chicken. Easier said than done, but that is the ideal answer.
  • You are lucky!! I have never got that low! I got to 1.1, and it raised again! Yeah my last was over 3 and my doc knows me now and said "Oh, My!, You want an increase, don't you?!" It has been ongoing...
  • You ae not that far over, it may take longer. Also, getting the meds in line is #1! I feel best when my TSH is on the very low end of normal.
  • I never bought one because I heard they can be a bear to set up and I don't have a good enough knowledge of Wifi and what I have to know if it will work.
  • Popcorn!! I can eat ALL the popcorn!! If I go in the movie theater, I am eating ALL the popcorn because of the smell!
  • If you don't like the pullovers then I love Champions ones that look like a real bra, but they are not wired, you can convert them to a racerback if you want, and they are soft and breatheable but don't bounce. Now, I am a C cup on my best day, but I am fat so I have a lot of uncomfortable bounce. These stop the bounce,…
  • You should be able to exercise as long as you keep your back straight. Do you have a brace? If not, that would help! Also, have you seen a chiropractor? If you are out of alignment you may continually injure yourself. If you have done all of these, work into any activity slowly. VERY slowly.
  • I assume from other posts you are a nurse. You should really educate yourself, as ketoacidosis it NOT the same thing as dietary ketosis! Not at all!! And low carb diets do not even have to have high protein. Educate yourself, please! PS, did the patient know of their condition ahead of time? Of what to do and not?
  • Saturday is my Friday so here is how I did this week: Mon-fair Tues-0 Wed-0 Thurs-fair Fri-fair I did better this week, and will try to do good this coming week because I work right up until the 26th, then it is vacation time after that and I make no promises!
  • I went and bought it and its DELICIOUS, just as I remembered!! I feel I am offsetting it by buying coconut oil potato chips for my salty indulgences!! Funny story...I got an email from some Paleo discount thing...coconut oil organic potato chips 50% off!! I am a salty, fried food girl who LOVES chips and fries!! So…
  • I don't track a percentage at all, but while the Fibit is really good at knowing you are restless once you are asleep, it isn't so good at knowing when you actually fall asleep. I noticed that when I was looking at my stats closely while I was sick. For example I knew I went to bed at 1 am and didn't fall asleep until well…
  • Birth control of any type has equated to total havoc on my body and I am not sure that I ever recovered. I am sure things unrelated had a part to play, but the fact is, if I never took those things I probably would not be where I am today. I gained 40# in a few months as a teenager!!!! I have had a hard time with my weight…
  • Find an indoor track! I used to have one at the Y but I can't afford that anymore. There are also ones in community centers...But basic advice from an Upstate NY (probably worse weather!) girl is layer up, cover the mouth, and get going!! Buy some Yakk Traxx or Nano Spikes...Get some shoes you can waterproof with spray.…
  • I love Metallica for workouts as the beats just keep you going even more that you would normally!! When I run, my favorite race song is Jump In the Fire! I like all the old school metal and some new, the point is for me the harder songs get it moving for me and motivate me!
  • I would compare labels in the store, get your best bet, and then look at trying to make your own "copycat" without the sodium. I personally don't worry about it as my overall sodium is low enough that any hot sauce will not affect me in the least! Look at the overall numbers and not just one item.
  • Yes! I am trying to get better control before and after, but yes, Christmas and New Years will not be good.
  • If you are exhausted, then you definitely need to focus on better foods to sustain you and help you build the muscle. Look for any healthy options, with veggies and protein and some fat. If you have a salad with chicken and are starving get something with protein and manage it with your calories or over. Building muscle…
  • Welcome! This is a link to Whole 30 whole30.com/. It is supposed to be like a jumpstart phase that is very strict, however they have eased up in some ways compared to previous years from what I have heard. I respond well to things like this, but maybe not for 30 days...It is up to you knowing yourself and what you can…
  • There is SO much you can do with a crockpot, I can't pick a favorite! I have 4 sizes of crockpots for different things, and use them all the time! A good place to start is this blog: ayearofslowcooking.com/2007/12/alphabetical-listing-of-recipes.html I also just do some very simple things like pulled pork (put a pork roast…
  • I don't understand this, and never will, but people I work with are the same way! It is like no other breakfast food ever existed! I can't tolerate oats at this point but even when I could, it was not high on my priority list.
  • I have not been even hitting my goals, but even when I do I take at least one rest day a week and if I don't feel like walking I don't. If I do, I do. I will almost certainly still have one day a week that I am just dead tired and gt like 800 steps! lol
