Okay, here's my list of protein-filled foods. I know it can be hard being a veggie and getting the right nutrients. I'm on my second month, and am struggling a little to get all my macros in. Assuming you're lacto-ovo vegetarian, these will work for you. Nuts and dried fruit Greek yogurt - with honey, fruit or I have even…

Yikes! I was stressing about a weekend with my family! I feel for you! I would be concerned about the availability of vegan/vegetarian products I like. I would bring a ton of shelf-stable snacks and goods (think nuts, dried fruits [if they are allowed?], granola bars, etc.) and shop for produce and other things when there.…

I've never done a challenge on mfp, but I'm interested. SW: 406.8 GW (for 10/31): 390 Goal for W1: Eat only home cooked meals for the week, log consistently.

I'm one of those people who is fairly direct. If someone is saying or doing something that genuinely hurts me and bothers me (it doesn't happen often, but it does happen), I simply tell them. As nicely as I can, I say that it bothers me they they think those things of me and I would prefer if they keep their opinions on…

Cutie oranges for $5 a box! I love those things. I hardly eat oranges during the rest of the year because they are never on sale here! Other than that, apple cider and apple-cinnamon anything.

Personally, I think you handled it not only as well as you could, but perfectly. As someone who was in that situation at 9 (yup, Grandma saying mean things only days after my parents separated, not on good terms) it sorta messed me up bad. I wish my dad would've said what you said. Instead, I got the "it doesn't matter…

Yeah, I get that. Some aren't so bad though. I rather like frozen peas and sometimes like frozen corn.

I don't use anything special, but as a previous poster said, you do need to research what can and cannot be frozen, or what vegetables need to be blanched before being frozen (if freezing from raw). For a lot of meals, I use my pyrex storage bowls, but my freezer meals don't last that long, maybe a week or two at most. I…

Why no frozen veggies? They can be just as nutritious as fresh...

Boy, I hear you on this one. Up until this past August, I was working more than full time and going to school full time. I understand the lack of time! For me, I usually had time on the weekend (just a few hours, even 1 hour of time would be fine sometimes) that I would use getting meals cooked/prepped for the week. I…

I like to make my own frozen meals. I made a big pot of chili the other day and put about half in the freezer for later. Amazing! Another favorite is making my own lasagna, or freezing portions of beans and rice.

You could also find someone who is studying to become a personal trainer. They will usually gobble the experience up and some might even do it for free for that. Just know that they are not certified, but they are working on it.

Thanks, all. I'm not really sure I want to quit it just yet, as this is my third shot and the first time I'm experiencing this side effect. I'm not 100% sure if it's the shot, or just a coincidence.

That looks delicious!

Thanks, I'm only planning on having it for about a year, 2 tops. My body has to have the hormones (right now, because of my weight creates complications with my period yada yada). I know how bad it can be, my mom was on it for about 16 years. It just sucks because I just got the new shot, so I'm not even due for another…

Thanks, for replying. I didn't know we weren't supposed to post in different sections. I'll make sure to not do that in the future.

I posted in 3 different forums because I was unsure of where it would best be placed.

My thoughts are very similar with yours. A lot of people get the surgery not as a 'last resort' after giving exercise/eating right a GOOD try, but because it's an alternative to exercise and eating right. My dad had it and he fits into this category. He never really dealt with his problem, so eventually he gained almost…

You have to do what you feel is right. If you feel you can walk on a treadmill! Go for it! Go for a walk, walk the dog, whatever you think you can do, just do! Also, I will say this. Exercise is a very important to overall health and weight loss, but diet is much more important to lose weight. Both are important but as…

I have only lost weight on the depo shot. I guess I'm just a lucky one?

So here's my story. When I first went on birth control, they put me on a generic of ortho tricyclen. It made me the moodiest person ever, due to the changing levels of hormones. I talked to my doc and she switched me to a birth control that had the same amount of hormones each pill. I loved that birth control! It worked so…

I found this article very interesting. Do you know of any other articles like this?

Maybe I'm just special and having problems because I've never made veggie burgers before, but 3 of my 4 broke when I tried to flip them. The last was about to. Is it because it is too dry? It seemed to be fine when I was making them. Also, I did use quick cooking oats instead of instant (it's all I've got!), could that be…

I haven't tried these, but they have been on my list of things to do for some time now! http://www.theyummylife.com/Flavored_Water http://greatist.com/health/flavored-water-healthy-recipe

I have added so many different fruits to my water, it's ridiculous. While I love lemon (anything with lemon, really), lime is also good, so is orange. Also, adding frozen fruits can be good (raspberries yes, blueberries not so much). For me, I found I drink way more water when it is cold rather than room temp, so I try to…

I am definitely doing to try these tonight! Or possibly even right now. I don't have the seasonings (I seriously need to go shopping) but I do have some all-purpose Mrs. Dash I think will be good with it. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for posting this. I think I needed to read this today.

So, this is rather difficult, since tastes vary from person to person and everyone has a different caloric amount to hit. Also, the amount of time you have to prepare meals affects if greatly. Basically, I would look up the nutrition guidelines for your age (or talk to your doc) to make sure you are getting as many…

Can I ask why January? That seems like a lot to lose in a short amount of time.

Yes, it is daily. First, get into the habit of measuring everything you eat. Whether you are using a scale or cups/spoons. Many people (myself included) under estimate portion sizes even with healthier foods! You should try to eat all of your allotted calories per day, as mfp has calculated a deficit for you already. Good…
