  • http://www.bellalimento.com/2011/12/27/how-to-make-balsamic-vinaigrette/ I really like this dressing. Super easy and pretty healthy. I like it with spinach, tomatoes and a small amount of feta.
  • I used to drink an energy drink mix by advocare. It missed into a bottle of water. I felt better about it because it used vitamins and some caffeine to give energy, but I am still not sure if how good it really is for you. I switched to caffeinated tea and coffee. I really like cold brewed teas in the morning third time of…
  • I'm sorry, I don't really have any tips for you, but I do have a tidbit of information. I have heard of a delayed sensitivity, where the sensitivity symptoms doesn't take effect until 12-24 hours after. I wonder if this is happening for you? I hope you can find someone who can help. Really, my only suggestion would be to…
  • I made this tonight, and it's AMAZING. I added about 1.5-2 cups of cooked lentils to bulk up the protein. http://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/mushroom-barley-soup/
  • Think of it like a pea in the pod. The pea itself is edible and good, while the pod is still edible and carries nutrients. While rice is the shelled pea and brown rice is the pea in the pod. Basically, white rice is just brown rice with the husk stripped away.
  • For the fruit flies, I make a vinegar-soap trap in a beer bottle (or similarly shaped bottle.) Fill about 1/2-1 inch of apple cider vinegar in the bottle, add a drop or two of dish soap. Shake very lightly to mix together. You don't want too many bubbles! Put the bottle in an area where the flies gather, and leave there…
  • Know that you are not perfect, not every day will be perfect. We will all screw up from time to time. Focus on how you feel right now. I know I feel regret, guilt, more than a little upset about what I just put in my body. When I think of emotional eating, I think about these feeling and how I don't like feeling that way.…
  • But some people who are at risk of high blood pressure (who are overweight, have a family history of hbp, etc.) are recommended to limit sodium intake to help keep blood pressure down and not be diagnosed with it. Just sayin'.
  • While I don't have any blogs for you, but I do like the American Heart Association's low sodium cookbooks. Their recipes sound amazing!
  • When I make rice noodles, I make pho.
  • ...most of those things carry LOADS of sodium...
  • I know how you feel! I use a combination of Mrs. Dash and either a salt substitute (whatever you do, stay away from morton's brand, it has a metallic after taste. I use alsosalt, which doesn't have that after taste at all. http://www.alsosalt.com/) or I use a very small amount of real salt, just to enhance the seasonings.
  • I don't have an iphone, but I do have and ipod touch. My favorite app is the striiv app. It's essentially a pedometer of sorts that sincs with mfp.
  • Do you know how to cook a variety of things? I've noticed that the more I prepare by hand (think pasta sauce, dry beans instead of canned, soups, etc.) the healthier it is, but not only that, it's way cheaper. I make a lot of dried beans and freeze them for later. To use in burritos with veggies, with rice and sauce, with…
  • I take leftovers for lunch every day. I love to cook, and I find it much easier to make enough food for four servings so my husband and I can have leftovers for lunch. I don't have to think about what to take that day, and if dinner was especially awesome, I usually look forward to it.
  • I just made a vegetarian shepherds pie (I needed to use up some leftover garlic mashed potatoes) to have in a few days. Soups are good, veggie with barley, minestrone, vegetable noodle, bean soup, whatever you can imagine. I also like to make lasagna using thinly sliced zucchini instead of noodles.
  • Sometimes the color of urine isn't the best bet. I know that there are certain medications and things that can alter the color of your urine.
  • I think these are just neat! I could totally try to make a veggie one. How did you learn to cook? I'm trying to figure out how to help my husband learn to cook...he needs some help in that department. I'm just not sure of how to teach him!
  • I always make extra dinner (4 servings instead of 2) for my husband and I to take for lunch the next day. I never have to think about what I am having for lunch the next day.
  • If you have a trader joe's by you, I really like their spicy smoky peach salsa. I believe 90 or 95 mg sodium in 2 tbsp. Also, I used to buy a salsa by the brand La Mexicana, it was more of a fresh salsa, but it was definitely good. It had VERY low sodium and I could only find it at Safeway in a large jar (near the deli,…
  • Mine is a little different. I have a lot of weight to lose, and that number was too daunting to see every time i log in to mfp. So, I set my tickers to 10% of my current weight, to make it a little easier for me. When I reach that goal, I will change it to another 10% of the current weight at goal.
  • Man, now i feel like a slacker! I weight the pasta before cooking, then divide it into 2 servings or 4 servings, depending on if I am cooking for 1 or 2. But I always have dinner leftovers for lunch. Example: I am making penne and sauce for me and my husband. I will weigh out 8 ounces of pasta, then drain, add 4 servings…
  • "Heads Up" in my life has always meant you need to look up, something is coming towards you, not "duck". Holes are in crackers to release steam when baking. My husband knows why he is called Donkey Kong, since he used to work at Nintendo of America. I'll have to ask him to remind me. I always assumed they were modeled…
  • How are you preparing them? Sometimes you will find you don't like something one way, but will another. For example, I despise cooked carrots. Abhor them. But I like them raw. Instead of fresh, maybe try some that are frozen. Just keep trying until you find something you can tolerate. Eventually you will probably grow to…
  • I have an open food diary. Feel free to add me!
  • Thanks, that looks pretty awesome!
  • Welcome! I've been on MFP for a while off and on, but now I'm on here for good! Feel free to add me if you wish!
  • Feel free to add me! I am in a similar position as you!
  • It wasn't bad! It was definitely interesting, but that was long before I became a vegetarian. I could only find it in the Asian market by my house, but here's the link for the company. I would personally recommend the coconut or the peach/mango! http://www.sunrise-soya.com/soy-products/sunrise-tofu-dessert.php#peach-mango
  • Lewis Black has a funny bit from his Carnegie Hall Performance that is pretty awesome, and totally fits in this thread. I urge you all to watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1mOFzv02lk
