Happy days - two new PBs today - did 6 x full pull ups - 5 regular singles and 1 from a complete dead hang starting position. Also got a massive PB on my bicep curls - previous best 3x10kgx3 - today's record 10kg x 8 x 2 and 10kg x 5 which was an absolute maximal effort. Am very pumped!

Tuesday's gym achievements: New Bench Press PB = 43kg, followed by 44kg. Failed at 45kg so definitely know 44kg (97lbs) is my current 1RM. Gone up 2kg since doing Starr's 5x5 intermediate programme for only 2 weeks. Very chuffed. Achieved a single completely unassisted chin up. Whoop-di-whoop! Very happy although struggled…

Two workouts away from a single unassisted dead hang pull up. Managed about 85% of one today, though my trainer says it's 99% there because mentally I now believe I will actually be able to do it. Gonna post a video when I manage it. Woo hoo - the adrenaline is still rushing round me just now! :)

I have really wee hands too but find that chalk and an alternate grip seems to work OK. I prefer if I can to use a 'girly' light bar of 10kgs instead of the standard 20kg bars mainly because it is thinner so I can get a much better grip on it.
