  • I wear fitted athletic capris since I don't like the shorts riding up and/or feeling like everyone can see my cellulite bouncing around as I jog :) I also wear either a tank top or t-shirt. Nothing too fitted or I find I end up concentrating more on sucking my stomach in than working out. If I'm outside I wear sunglasses.…
  • So true. There are times when I think "why in the world am i not losing?!" and then when I really sit and think about it I know why. Not too long ago I realized I was never counting the 2-3 handfuls of almonds I was eating each day. I didn't think I needed to count them because they were a "healthy food". They are healthy,…
  • Well I also add 15% to my food estimate and subtract 20% of my exercise estimates just in case. I know one time MFP tried to say I burned 560 calories on an hour walk and there was NO way that was right :( Thanks!
  • I'll definitely take a peek! Thanks :)
  • If she's struggling with an eating disorder, the absolute worst thing you could do is point out how much weight she's lost. I struggled with anorexia for a while and having someone point out how small I was (even if they said I looked unhealthy) only fueled my twisted thought process that I must be on the right track. They…
  • I struggled with anorexia and then binge eating. I had gained so much weight I refused to take my pea coat off in the dead of georgi summers by I didn't want anyone to see how large I'd gotten. That and I literally could no longer the insane grocery bill to support my binges
  • Wait, you only weigh 136 and she asked you that.???????
  • I would be interested in hearing from those who've actually had theirs measured in a clinic/gym. By MFP's calculations my BMR should be a little over 1800, but I went to a registered dietician where you do that test where you breath into a machine for 5 minutes and my BMR was only 1403 :( I'm 26 years old, 5'9 and weigh…
  • I've been running for about 4 years now and actually don't run anywhere near as much as I used to. I used to average 6 miles several times/week and now I shoot for 2-3 miles each workout
  • I use a fitbit for this reason and I always trim the "calories burned" by 10% just in case so I won't overestimate.
  • Anyone? I guess I'm the only one...
  • That you can only do so much damage within 24 hours and that consistency is key. You can blow your diet over one day or one weekend, but hop back on track. Also, eating healthy and exercising like crazy for one week won't do you any good if you just blow it the next 7 days.
  • I hate when people use the words "large" or "big" to describe someone who is tall (especially when they're fairly small). It sounds like you're calling them fat. I'm 5'9 145 and even when I weighed 128 people would call me a "big girl". I also get "have you grown lately?" a lot. Um no, I'm 26 and haven't grown since the…
  • I struggled with anorexia, then binge eating disorder. It's a tough road, but it is possible to overcome it. It might not help, but I wrote about my struggles on my blog and you're more than welcome to read it if you think it might help. Reading about other people's experiences helped me get through it. There are 3 parts…
  • Same issue here. Was losing just fine with 1200 and no exercise. Added in exercise and I now gain no matter my calories or duration of cardio. I've been at it for a while and now I'm bigger :(
  • My rock bottom was a process. I became anorexic following a breakup (guy cheated on me with a skinny girl who literally modeled for a living...no lie). I went from 5'9 and 134 all the way down to 116 and fit into zeros. I then became addicted to food during the recovery process. I swiftly gained 70 lbs and refused to take…
  • What rate of weight loss is realistic (and healthy) for someone who is of a healthy weight but is wanting to get down to their fighting weight. I've listed them in a previous question, but below are my stats 26 yo female 5'9 149 23% bg I'd like to get down to 135. I know it's more about the journey than a quick fix, so I'm…
  • This may be a bit more of an answer than you were looking for, but I used to suffer from anorexia and then binge eating disorder. I've finally overcome it and blogged about it if you're interested in reading about my experience. It may not help you, but it surely can't hurt. There are 3 parts to my blog series on my…

  • I used to have one. I struggled with anorexia for a while and then suffered from bingeing and purging. From my lowest weight to my highest was a 50 lbs difference. It's a long road and sometimes it seems like there is no end in sight and that it will never get better but it will. I'm not sure if it would help, but you're…
  • hhhmm interesting. maybe i can get there one day :) thanks so much!
  • Just curious....what would you consider to be a "rockstar weight" for a 26 year old female who is 5'9??? I know it depends on the person's build and body fat, but just curious :)
  • Well I don't skip breakfast, I just eat something much smaller than what most nutritionists would typically recommend. For some reason if I eat something larger it makes me crave more food throughout the day instead of giving me great fuel and willpower to push the plate away sooner at lunch and dinner. Go figure....
  • How do you get rid of cellulite? I've even seen marathon runners with it. Is it mostly genetic? I've got 23%bf at 5'9 and 149 lbs and the backs of my legs are covered with the stuff :(
  • This is actually 2 different questions... I'm 5'9 and weigh 149 23% bf 26 yo female My trainer said to start hitting the weight heavy and not worry about counting calories in order to lean down to 18%bf. I told her I was afraid I'd gain weight but she just said to be sure and eat clean and eat 150g protein each day. Well…
  • It just means you want t make some sort of post (without necessarily having to add to the combo) so the thread will be saved in "my topics" Took me a while to figure it out too :)
  • This thread is A-mazing! Question for you... Why is that I can create the same 500 calorie deficit through either only diet or only exercise, and I only lose when that deficit is created through diet alone? If I create the 500 calorie deficit through exercise (weights and HIIT) the scale won't budge and neither will the…
