I will be quite honest and say that: - I haven't overcome it, but am trying to - It's not "the society we live in". Society is a vague impersonal thing that we don't really care about. It is however made up of people we do care about, and their opinions and voices and actions and our own interaction with them shape us (the…

I don't know all about Fitbit, but I do know height has a lot to do with your energy needs. You are taller than most women, according to the numbers above, so it is not surprising that you should burn more than most women.

Came to recommend trendweight.com. I use it as rabbitjb described, without a fitbit. Plus it syncs with MFP (via the dummy Fitbit account) automatically so from that point on you only log in one place. (Edited for crappy spelling...)

I can see your point, but no, it isn't scary to eat 120 calories over for a day. To eat them on a daily basis, for years and years, yes, that actually is scary. And if it was easy to imperceptibly add 120 calories to your intake at one stage, it will be also easy to imperceptibly add them again at a later stage (to reach…

Does that mean the calories in angel's food cake don't count?

This. What you are doing is smart and admirable. I know it is sometimes hard to deafen the little nagging mocking voices; recognize that whereever they came from, they are not your voice! It is your own, true inner voice that matters. Let it speak out more over the shaming ones, and it will gradually drown them out. By the…

I don't think logging forever has to be done the exact same way for everyone and has to be done daily. I know one great lady on here who lost 130 lbs I think, and has maintained it by logging weekdays, but takes weekends off. I know some people keep an eye on the scale and log when they see it going to the top of their…

Thank you all for the replies. Anniepi66 Happy birthday and many happy returns!

Let me explain more fully my point now that I have more time and don't have a kid to prepare for school. The bolded part I was repeating is according to me the key to the whole discussion - what you are attempting to do requires a really, really high deficit. More than is healthy for you and more than is reasonable. Once…

I just felt the bold part needed repeating... What more anyone can say is beyond me...

Tiredness and brain fog sound like something that can work together with the effects of hypoglecemia and undereating in a bad way, even if the causes are unrelated. Good thinking for the chocolate, and try not to be too agressive in your goals and have a balanced nutrition! Slow and steady wins the day.

You are succeeding - that definitely looks fresh, balanced and delicious!

Looks great for a snack, but for me 200 calories is not a lunch, it's a pennance! I am assuming you eat lots of meals like this a day, or eat the majority of your food at other meals?! My lunch today was a heaped large plate of maccaroni with homemade cheese sauce, broccoli and turkey. 631 calories all weighed to the gram,…

One can but hope :) I admire wholeheartedly the persistence of a couple of dozen users on here, including yourself, to explain over and over and give the same reasonable answers to the same unreasonable questions. I know it's done for the benefit of lurkers and not just the OP, and as a former lurking newbie (not long ago)…

Hello again and a little update from me - I check my progress Mondays usually: CW 220 1 lb down since last week - woohoo, all that NYE weight was indeed water weight after all! I haven't restarted my exercise program though - I have been down with a vicious cold since Jan 1st :(

Not a brand but for suggestions what layers to wear when running, would this site help? dressmyrun.com It suggests clothing according to the current conditions in your location. Or this one (I actually like it more because you can specify if you prefer to feel warmer or cooler): runnersworld.com/what-to-wear

Another pre-logger here. I try to log most or all of my food the day before as a sort of "plan A". Then if I want to make a change on the day I can see exactly how it will impact my day's total.

I think this is the only thing that really works to redirect the habbit. Whenever you find yourself in this situation, find something to do. Food has been your coping mechanism for boredom - so find something else to fill up that time in a satisfying way.
-
On the topic of adding more (and a bigger variety) of plant food, there is a program where I live caled "The good food box" which is essentially a group buying plan for fruit and vegetables, they don't deliver but you can pick up your box at a point near you. They tend to buy local whatever they can and only then turn to…

Dry spices (I do log all condiments though), black coffee, tea. I also eyeball leafy greens :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with frozen fruit and veg - they conserve their nutritional value very well, and often they are picked ripe (as opposed to "fresh" produce meant for export which is often picked underripe) and not treated with additional chemicals for transportation, and usually prepared soon after picking. In fact…

This. Rules of thumb are only rules of thumb, so practically useless in any more particular situation. Above the neck can mean a nasty sinusitis which takes a lot of antibiotics and time to clear, or even worse stuff. Listen to your body - rest and relax, allow it to heal.

You are right, I haven't implied it and never read that in your post. I am interested in your views which seem to promote self-censuring based one one's perceived qualification to have "something to contribute". I find that a sad thing to be honest. You might be interested in the below - it purports to be a letter from a…

Since you admit to self-censuring based on your qualifications, and apparently are expecting others to do the same, obviously you do not really believe that everyone should be free to express an opinion. Free expression means they get to, actually, you know, express?

If you really like the idea of low-calorie ice-cream as a snack, why not invest in your own frozen youghurt maker? I am sure there must be some delish recipes out there and you can vary the taste as much as you like and keep it low-calorie with simple ingredients. You can add stuff like dark chocolate shavings, Pb2 (never…

Funny how according to you people giving constructive, honest and respectful feedback are "rude jerks" but calling strangers "rude jerks" is somehow fine... Agressive much?!

This is absolutely a question for your doctor and not something to rely on internet forums for! Until you can ask them, don't put your health in danger by starting any unaproved diet plan or calorie reduction!

For a perspective, when I started I was 108.9 kg and I am twice your age, but a bit taller (165 cm). I lost fairly fast on 1700 cals a day or thereabouts. 1350 might be too low for your weight, even being shorter. This site has a deçent TDEE calculator - I suspect you could probably eat around 1600 and still lose at a…

Now you've raised the bar too high :) Can't we start off with something easier, like climbing an 8000-footer or running a marathon?

I am confused - you say it's about your weight loss but it comes across as if for you his being big is the real problem and you try to push him too much. That's the picture I get from your post, I could be wrong of course. We have supreme authority over our own bodies. You lose the weight when you're ready; he lsoes it…
