You're doing so well! Nice running! Please go run outside. You'll love it. I run on both the treadmill and outdoors; I am a slow runner. At first, it bothered me but it was only when I compared my time with others, so I stopped doing that. I run my speed and I enjoy running. That's enough for me. A 17 minute mile is about…

I eat pizza. I log the slices, if I'm still peckish I eat a salad on the side, I work out a little bit longer the next day. You can have your pizza and still lose weight. Follow the MFP goals set for you and the system will work.

The above advice is good. Keep running 30 minutes straight, three times a week. Make one day a longer day and on that day run slower to build your stamina. On the other 2 days, run sprints and hills. Don't increase your distance for awhile (at least 3-4 week; maybe longers) to give your body time to acclimatize. When you…

That's a great start! Well done! These first steps of breaking old habits are the hardest. But you can do this.

Running and jogging are the same thing. Both include that both feet are off the ground at some point.....and that means you are running. Speed doesn't matter at all. I run consistently and slowly three times a week, about 5-7K each time. I consider my time respectable for me. I've been running for a few years now. My time?…

I cook one meal. Hubby takes what he wants, I have less (or none) of the starchy portion and more veggies. I make small changes such as using spaghetti squash instead of pasta occasionally and I've tried the shiritake noodles. You can have 2 eggs, bacon and cheese occasionally. Just plan it, log it and adjust the other…

Try to increase your exercise over the next week or two and try to burn off some of those 700 calories. It can balance out if you continue to stick to the plan. Over the span of time, those 700 calories will not affect your weight loss plan. It's only a small drop in the bucket. Don't give up. This won't make a difference…

Nice workout! You did great! It takes a bit of courage to run outside for the first time or two. I remember feeling so exposed and thinking that everyone saw how awful I ran. Truth is, no one sees you and those that do are runners who always give you a smilr, a thumbs up or some other type of encouragement. Runners like…

http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k I think this is the active group. You can find other groups here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/groups/browse/popular Just type C25K in the search field.

I also run faster outdoors than on the TM. The TM speed feels the same as my outdoor speed but the TM numbers say differently.

Congratulations on starting! Keep with it, it gets better. Maybe not easier but better. Going from a 5.8K/hr walk to a 7K/hr run is a big jump. Keep the running pace slower. You should feel a burn but not be overly panting. Try to keep it where you can speak short sentences outloud without panting through it. How are your…

I'm reading Independent People by Halldor Laxness and enjoying it. Last week I read The Lathe of Heaven by Ursela LeGuin. It was my first by this author and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more by her.

It's been a hectic week at work and I've been keeping up with my running as best I could. Congratulations to all the wonderful runs! I've been keeping up with the achievements and loving all the posts. My progress for January so far is: Jan 1 - 7.77K Jan 2 - 2.18K Jan 3 - 6.24K Jan 7 - 7.04K Jan 8 - 1.98K Jan 12 - 8.98K…

I think that by following any diet plan one will lose weight, providing one consumes less calories than one burns. The problem arises when one leaves the diet plan and goes back to eating "normally". Then the weight seems to have a tendency to come back. For a sustainable plan, be it weight loss or maintenance, one would…

I started running in my mid-50s as well. You can do this. I used the C25K program. After completion, I could run 30 minutes but not 5K. It didn't take long to increase that distance to 5K. Find shoes that are fit properly for your feet. A good Running Store is helpful for this. Good shoes make a world of difference when…

On the treadmill today for 7.04K. I've been under the weather for a few days and am just glad to be back to myself. Jan 1 - 7.77K Jan 2 - 2.18K Jan 3 - 6.24K Jan 7 - 7.04K January total: 23.23K/100K

Not boring at all. The bottom half looks a bit like Asian writings. I'm going to go find my runs. All of these posters are amazing.

Jan 1 - 7.77K Jan 2 - 2.18K Jan 3 - 6.24K Today's run was on the treadmill. January total: 16.19K/100K

This is such a great post! Congratulations on a really good training session.

Happy New Year everyone! Lots of really nice runs today! I live in the warm part of Canada. Today was foggy and about 5C (41F), a nice running temp once I warmed up. I've mapped out a new 10K route as an inspiration & goal. I currently run between 5-7K a run, so 10K is the next goal. Today I ran part of the new 10K route…

I was so disappointed with my running when I first ran outdoors. I trained on the treadmill and could run 5K without too much issue. But moving to outside, I was like you and could barely run a couple hundred meters. It takes a couple of weeks to make the transition but then you'll be able to run 5K outdoors as well. It's…

Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and encourage/be encouraged by everyone's various goals. My goal will be to log 100K a month.

I'd like to join in 2018. I tried this a few years back when I was just beginning to run and was quickly overwhelmed by the number of posts. I think I'm more prepared now to be an active member. I'm a slow runner and run 3 times a week. I haven't been in any offical races. My runs consist of a warm up walk, my run and a…

I liked this one, too. I'm glad that you've found you like it.

I really enjoyed this one. It was fun. I hadn't heard there would be a movie. I'll keep an eye open. Thanks!

Hills are good training but we don't always want to run them, especially at the end of our runs. Is there a park or trail you can drive to or stop at on the way home from work? Someplace flatter than at home but don't forget to run that hill occasionally. It's rather empowering. Stay focussed and keep getting out there…

Congratulations! That's a great run and very good time. Well done on your first 5K!

It takes me about 1K or so for my body to get into the rhythm of it. The first kilometer is a hard one; the rest are easier (unless it's a bad run day, in which case, it's all hard).

I love avocados. On sandwiches, in salad, as guacamole, by themselves. Delicious!
