At first, you just have decide the day, the exercise and the time.....then do it. You don't have to feel motivated or even want to get started. You just have to decide that it is going to happen. After awhile, you'll start looking forward to your workouts. It's about starting a new habit. At first, it's just something new…

No problem. It's only one day and we're all here to learn where we can make better choices and some changes. Look over your diary and see where you could have made a tweak or two to bring your calories down and still be satisfied with your meal. It's a learning process and takes time. Today you can learn something to try…

This. Run slow and you'll run longer. Speed will happen in time. How long have you been running? How are you training for distance? I've been running for about 4 years and my running pace is about 12 minutes a mile. Summer heat slows me down even more. This morning I ran 7K in 66 minutes. Slow maybe but I did it, in the…

Congratulations on making it through Week 2. No matter how hard the upcoming week looks, you're ready for it. Believe in that because it's true. Keep running, slow down if you need to but keep running for the alotted time. C25K really works.

If you really want to run, there's no need to put it off. Start slow (very slow) and with a good pair of shoes. You're ready as soon as you let yourself believe you're ready. You can do this.

Great post! My favorite runs are at about a 8-9 minute kilometer (12-13 minute mile). It's wonderful to run and so loose and comfortable. It makes for longer runs, too, as you discovered. I do mix these easy runs with sprint runs occasionally to try to help with speed but my main goal is to do the slow runs for now. Glad…

You can do this. As suggested above, mini-goals will be a help. Focus on such goals as losing 10 lbs or weighing food & logging it for a day. You can do this one step at a time.

Have you checked out the local Recreational Center? They usually have a gym and a trainer. The charges are less (just admission to the Center) and you do have to share the trainer with others in the gym but he will give everyone some time.

I am not a true morning person. But in the summer, I get out on my run early(ish) on the weekends and holidays. It's a wonderful feeling and the air is so fresh and cool(ish). I can recommend doing this a couple of times a week. Hot days are good training, too. However, stay hydrated and don't be afraid to stop and walk to…

I finished Born A Crime and found it an interesting look at South Africa at the time of Trevor's life. I'm now reading The Hidden Life of Trees. Fascinating, so far.

Sometimes it isn't worth finishing a truly bad book. Good on you for putting it down. Hope you enjoy We Have Always Lived In The Castle. It's creepy and intriguing. I'm currently reading Born Crime by Trevor Noah. He's had a unique upbringing and his story is interesting. There's a lot in the book about apartheid and how…

Sounds delicious. I'd probably go with the smoked salmon, one of the steak dinner options. I rarely have dessert but love cheesecake, so that might happen (or not; I'd decide on the spot).

Congratulations! That first non-stop mile is a great achievement. Well done! You're on your way now.

Did you take the inserts with you to the Running Store when you bought the shoes? That may help them find a good shoe for your foot. Do you feel your toes hitting the front of your shoe when running? If so, perhaps you need a slightly larger shoe so that your toe and heel don't rub against the shoe and cause trouble, like…

ll my running shoes are a size larger than my regular shoes. I make sure the heels fit well and that there's lots of room in the toe box. I find it makes a difference after a few Kilometers and keeps the run comfortable for my feet. So far, I haven't found that the extra size feels extra large.

If you've stayed within your calorie limit, there's no way you gained 4 lbs. Even eating one whole pizza wouldn't account for 4 lbs. If your logging is accurate (you use a scale), you're retaining water. Perhaps from the pizza; there's a lot of sodium in pizza. Check your diary for sodium. Have you changed your exercise…

Good to hear that you've found good shoes. You should notice quite a bit of difference on how the run feels on your legs & knees. Let us know how it goes.
-
When you go to the running store, take your old pair of sneakers along. It will help them evaluate how you land and that will help in finding a shoe that works for you. A good running store will be able to help a lot and a good pair of shoes will help your running. So far, the best for me have been Saucony.

When I started running I did the same as Amyrebeccah and logged my runs as "brisk walking". If you dislike running, perhaps walking is an option. Over time, you may find yourself running a short distance on your walks and slowly build up to running. Or not. It should be somewhat enjoyable to you. It all depends on what…

It's different and I found it harder at first but you'll get used to it in a very short time. There's nothing to it that should stop you from getting outdoors. Give it a try; you'll find it's a lot more fun running outdoors, even if it is a bit harder at first. You may be one of the lucky ones who don't notice a…

C25K graduate here. Trust the program. It won't ask you to run any time period that you aren't ready for. There's a "talk" test you can take to help you gauge whether you are running too fast for now. Speak a short sentence out loud. You should feel comfortable doing so. If the words are hard to get out, slow down. You'll…

I'm not quite 60 yet; just under. Am happy to have more support and motivation from others and to return the same.

Most people don't reach the 5K distance by the end of the program. That's something to focus on afterwards. I still can't run 5K in 30 minutes. That's not always an attainable goal. However, running 5K is an attainable goal. The time really doesn't matter. For now, build up the stamina by running slow and not worrying…

Slow down. C25K's goal is the time, not the speed. Run slow enough that you can speak a short sentence aloud without gasping. Pay attention to your breathing. As soon as it gets hard, slow down. You can do this. Have fun with Week 3.

Enter your stats into MFP to lose 1 lb a week. Stick with that calorie goal. Eat what you want, log it accurately and stick within your calorie goal. You'll find that if you eat too many high-cal items, you'll run out of calories and be hungry somewhere throughout the day. Over time, you'll find a way to balance calories…

Linedancing may or may not be good for weight loss; depends on a lot of other things. However, when I linedanced on a weekly basis, I was in super good shape. If you dance through the evening, you'll notice a change in your body over time.
-
Congratulations! It is a big deal to run that first mile! Awesome achievement! High five! Keep going and have fun.

Welcome to MFP and congratulations on realizing that a change needs to be made. That's sometimes the hardest part of getting started. Keep tracking your calories diligently and sticking to your daily goal. Changes will happen. They are slow but keep believing in the process. The results will happen. As Canadianmom says,…
