  • No more often than weekly. Weight fluctuates all the time and weighing yourself an hour apart even on the same day can produce a different result. Consistency is important so try to wear the same clothes, use the same scales on the same floor surface, on the same day of the week and at the the same time of day. Good luck.
  • Only a science lab could work that out for you accurately but exercise is well known to speed up metabolism and spicy foods are known to have a positive effect.
  • Porridge is the perfect start to the day. I slice a banana on top along with 25g of mixed nuts. Always keeps you full until lunchtime.
  • Hi Jeanine, I'm in the same boat, 73 lbs to lose and 56 years old. Not an easy task but happy to buddy up and help in any way I can.
  • Feel free to add me. Wish I only had 50 to go; try 73!!
  • More than happy to add you Sarah.
  • I weigh-in every two weeks and I get the local health centre to do it. Firstly, their scales are more accurate and secondly if you feel that someone else is keeping an eye on you, you tend to stay on track so that you don't let them down.
  • Middle-aged Scottish guy here. This is my third time starting from scratch on MFP. Had great success the first time but I stopped using it and things went to hell in a hand cart. Second time neither my heart nor head was in it so hoping this time I'll stay focussed. Good luck to everyone. Happy to accept anyone as friends
  • I now weigh-in every two weeks at my local health centre as their scales are very precise and it helps to think that Big Brother is watching you! I used to weigh myself weekly but was advised by a dietician to make it fortnightly as any difference is more marked and successes result in a huge morale boost.

  • I've done the same from time to time and it's not a bad compromise but more often I enter every ingredient I find during the meal into my phone to calculate later. This has the added advantage of teaching me to eat slower. You will often find that some restaurant menus are incredibly detailed in their meal descriptions so…
  • 1/2 - 168 lbs 1/9 - 165 lbs 1/16 - 165 lbs 1/23 - 164 lbs 1/30 - 160 lbs 2/6 - 2/13 - 2/20 - 2/27 -
  • Believe me you're not alone! I have about 45 to go but when I started this journey prior to joining MFP I had 100+ to lose so it can be done.
  • Near St Andrews in Scotland (you know; where the rain gets warmer in summer).
