  • This is exactly what I am currently doing. I started Oct 6th and will run a marathon on April 27th. I have lost 1 or 2 pounds every week so far. I started at about 247 and am currently around 214. Looking to be 185ish by the marathon. I do not think this will be a problem. I would also like to be run it under 4:00 hours as…
  • I have a Sole...still going great after 4 years...highly recommended
  • I hit the bowflex pretty good 5 days a week. I go high reps in sets of 6. It has helped noticeably. It is in my office so, its easy to do a bunch everyday. I work every once in a while too. I do no strength training for my legs. I probably should....just don't want an injured muscle from it.
  • It is indeed couch to marathon. Well, I do have a base in running but quit for a full year. Seven months is pushing it but, so far it is working out great. We will see in the end. I just want to stay injury free (heel)---this time around so, I am slowly building it up. So far so good. Thanks for all the great ideas so far,…

  • I highly recommend Hal Higdon as well. I am about 3 months into the Novice Supreme for the full marathon. Things are going great so far---I feel like I can do more but, I have been careful to follow it pretty closely. This guy knows what he is doing for sure! Pick a plan of his that fits into your schedule and stick with…
  • Tendonitis (turf toe)----stress fracture are the first things that come to mind that it could be. A doctor is probably the only way you will figure it out. You need to know if you just need a few days rest to get rid of it or if it is no big deal. If you take the chance to wait to see if it gets worse---it could get a lot…
  • I signed up for my first full marathon this April---actually first anything. I figured the same thing as you----I should just sign up to make me follow through with it as, I have always wanted to run one. I have been following the Hal Higdon Novice Supreme program. So far, thing have been going great.....seems so smooth so…
