Usually when this kind of post comes up, at least one person will mention depression. I don't think wanting something is equivalent to getting something. Everyone has personal barriers that will make getting something a difficult reality, and no amount of wanting will break down those barriers. I'm an anxious person, and I…

Nope, not really. 99.99% of the time, our bodies aren't that smart. (Salt cravings are sometimes related to needing salt, and there are probably other exceptions.

This is the best answer I've read so far. Back when I was 5'1 and 210 lbs, I thought I would be ooooodles happier by the time I was 130 lbs. But deep-seated issues with self image don't go away with weight loss. That's a brain problem, not a weight problem.

I've found that any type of pain is exacerbated by a (natural) anxiety to make it go away ASAP. Hunger pangs, which are painful, are just like that. We are hungry, so our body wants us to eat ASAP. Try and challenge that thought process. Yes, it hurts, but it won't actually hurt you. You aren't starving, and your body…

I gained more than 80 pounds after 7 years on Zoloft (130ish to 210ish). After I got off of it, I didn't even have to try losing weight. After a couple of years the majority of it just melted away. Zoloft was super effective for my anxiety and depression though. So it's worth a shot. Just be sosososo careful!

@LishieFruit89 : Thank you! CFS sounds like a nightmare. I hope your friend has found a way to manage it! @cjmaize123 : You are totally right about the olympic swimmers. That makes me feel much better! All of your suggestions sound great (other than breast stroke, which I was told to avoid). The only type of swimming I…

@knra_grl The lifetime of vulvodynia varies depending on the person. It's very likely that it'll never go away. My goal is to keep it from getting worse, which is why avoiding any exercises that exacerbates the pain is important. But you're right, swimming is definitely better than nothing!

@ChrisDavey : You make a good point. It might be one of those things I just need to try and see if changing the medium (air to water) helps for some reason. Trying once should be okay. if it hurts, I won't continue.

@cleback : By interval training, do you mean swimming short distances back and forth? I kind of just fast-googled it, so I'm not sure. I'm sure my doctor would be fine with it as long a it doesn't trigger pain. @meritage4: Unfortunately, I live in Texas. If I ever move near some snowy mountains, though, I'll keep it in…

@cafeaulait7 : The pool weights sounds like a great idea and I definitely want to try them out. Thank you for the suggestion! @xsmilexforxme : If swimming can rebuild muscle mass at all, that's definitely better than nothing! Thanks for your reply! @Huffdogg : Because of the vulvodynia, I can't wear form-fitting bottoms at…
