  • Just purchased a Charge today and am excited to get started. My profile is www.fitbit.com/user/38FQJJ and please feel free to add me.
  • Thank you for sharing this recipe! I made some in the Vitamix yesterday and it is outstanding - much better than the store bought concoctions! (If you follow the directions it's easy and quick as well.)
  • Count me in - thanks!
  • NICE! Thanks for sharing.
  • Your post made me think of this article on Zero Hedge I saw earlier this week -- http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-11-24/10-corporations-control-almost-everything-you-buy Quite a few food manufacturers on that list and I'm sure many have their organic product lines, as you mentioned.
  • Carrie: if you are following Paleo guidelines in terms of eating, my advice would be to skip weighing every day - maybe go once a week. The scale is a TERRIBLE judge of what is happening to your body on a day-to-day basis. Paleo is about making the right choices over the long haul, watching the results unfold gradually,…
  • Good luck with the training - and in the race! If you have a cooler I would go with your favorite meats, including some bacon you can fry up ahead of time for the road. Coconut oil is another source of instant fuel - just need to make sure it doesn't melt in the car. :grumble:
  • ^^ Good luck with your decision!
  • A question for the OP: do you have any certain types of food that are off limits for you? Just want to understand your approach to Paleo a little better before chiming in with specifics. (The advice above is good thus far.)
  • Since it is something that brings you (and others!) so much joy, would it be possible to go ahead and do the cookies, and set boundaries with yourself about how much you will allow yourself to partake? (I understand this is not wise for everyone, but if it is something you think you can swing in moderation, why not honor…
  • There's a book that someone here tipped me off to called Make Ahead Paleo. Excellent ideas for some fairly simple recipes that save time - and includes a listing of recipes that freeze well. There's also a lot of easy-to-make (and freeze friendly) recipes available on the web. It's a bit more time consuming to cook a bunch…
  • ^^ Many thanks!
  • Do you have a recipe or method that you would be willing/able to share? Would love to see it.
  • I'm not doing a Whole 30 but am strongly considering it in January. Just wanted to say you all rock! Keep up the great work and best of everything in your journey through W30.
  • I agree with this. It's all about the delivery - there can be a lot of shame wrapped up in these kinds of things so it's best in my experience to tread lightly.
  • HaHa! All of this feedback brings it right back to you though. No doubt many of the folks who have chimed in are sharing what works for them - everybody (or every body, if you will) is a little bit different in terms of how their body responds. So my suggestion would be to try a variety of methods for a few days or a week…
  • Not sure how much you like veggies overall, but it seems like your carb intake skews a bit toward the sweeter side - maybe adding a bit more bulk to your diet in the form of salads and other more non-starchy veggies might help? (Still eat the sweet potatoes, just make adding bulk a priority.) And ditto what justaspoonful…
  • It's not a grain, and according to Mark's Daily Apple (FWIW), fine as a Primal food. I can't speak to issues related to Celiac or gluten allergies. Here's more info - http://celiacdisease.about.com/od/glutenfreegrains/f/Is-Quinoa-Gluten-Free.htm
  • Just did a Google search on a whim and came up with this - Quinoa flour - http://www.mynaturalfamily.com/recipes/grain-free/best-of-the-best-recipes-for-quinoa-flour/ Anyone here use this before, and what are the differences from almond/coconut flour?
  • Thank you! I just bought this on Amazon and downloaded it to my iPad. Looks great!
  • I can only offer my experience with Paleo, which has been filled with some fits and starts along the way. The hardest adjustment for me has been the idea of eating fat and having that be okay. In my experience adequate fat consumption is essential to making Paleo work. What I did not realize is how difficult it is to fight…
  • Excellent feedback thus far! Planning ahead & freezing some portions is the way to go. Do you have a crock pot? There are a ton of Paleo-friendly crock pot recipes that are easy in terms of prep time. And of course, the food cooks while you are away from the house, which is even better. :)
  • Starting the W30 tomorrow (29th) ... was doing really well on Primal until three weeks ago so this will be a re-set for me. Good luck to everyone!
  • Dang! If you're selling, I'm buying. :) Seriously though, I will definitely give this a try. Thanks!
  • I've reopened my diary and anyone who would like may friend me up. Primal here for about three weeks. Still reading and learning.
  • I get up EARLY and am usually in the gym by 5 - 5:15 am. I usually eat something around 4 am and take a protein powder with me and have that right after completing my workout. Haven't had any issues with nausea at all. I just have to be mindful about what I eat (depending upon whether it is a lighter or heavier day in the…
  • I made a beet-walnut salad over the weekend and it was really good! http://paleodietlifestyle.com/beet-walnut-salad/
  • Emily - really good advice above me here. I'd be concerned about the claorie intake personally (I think you might need to eat more) but more importantly, don't weigh yourself every day. The scale lies - measurements and how your clothes fit over time is the true "tell" on the progress you're making. Focus on eating right,…
  • I'm a relative newbie here, but not on my license plate. ;-) If you feel the need to add a hard hat wearing 50 year old to your friend collection, invite away!
  • I can relate to this. I had a hard time meeting my calorie target the last 2-3 days and was a bit lethargic this morning. Upped my fruit intake a bit to get some sugar in me and it seems to have resolved it very nicely. (If anyone has an alternate strategy besides healthy [but sugary] carbs as a pick me up in similar…
