Hello! Almost four weeks into keto. Loving this woe. Down 8 pounds. Only 22 to go, lol!

I used to eat tons of fruit. I found that I was substituting fruit for vegetables. I cut back on fruit, added veggies and my sugars for the last week or so have been under 30. Broke through a plateau almost instantly. Just my two cents.

How old are you? You look young in your picture and sound like my sons in your speech. I agree that you should lift weights. Nothing like it for building strength, muscle and confidence. And you don't need a gym membership to work out. Google bodyweight routines and start there.

My trainer says you have to really stick your butt in the air and chest out. Push through the heels. I love deadlifts, but they gotta be done right to avoid injury. Good luck!

I could care less about what they look like as long as: 1. I can't hear their music over the sound of my own. 2. They stink so bad, you have to leave the room. :grumble: 3. They don't clean their equipment, leaving it for someone else to do. :explode: Other than that, I'm good!

If you're serious about getting into regular exercise and not over-estimating your burn, this is the only way to go. A decent Polar heart rate monitor is about $100. I LOVE mine.

Me too! So far, so good!

I'm glad you opened your diary. It's hard to help without knowing what you're eating. Here are my observations, for what they're worth: 1. There is quite a bit of processed food in your diary. Try to eat a bit more whole foods that don't come from a package. 2. You can still eat vegetables and fruit even with IBS. Avoid…

Actually, muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. Muscle is just more dense. So, if you have lots of muscle, you may weigh more than you used to, but be smaller in size. OP, do your clothes fit differently? The scale is not the only measure of fitness.

Today I am way under my normal calories, but after a blow out day like yesterday, I'm all right with that. I'm finishing my day with steak and salad and hoping to hit 10,000 steps before it's done. Gym tomorrow. Feeling good about today. Vive summer!!

I work out twice a week with a personal trainer. She has shown me that you don't have to lift weights to gain muscle, there are plenty of body weight exercises as well. Lunges, squats, pushups, etc. That said, I DO lift heavy - I use 25 pound weights for bicep curls, but I avoid injury by using really good form.

I didn't know there was an optimal ratio? If you offset them as you've done, does that mean no insulin spike?

Today, I ate the worst possible things and drank two delicious hard ciders for a whopping 400 calories. But on the bright side, I logged it all. I'm trying so hard to get back to logging regularly. It's the only thing that works for me.

Well, hello ladies! I did so well on MFP in my mid 40's. I was religious about logging every bite. But I'm having a hell of a time doing it now. I eat VERY well. I'm the queen of protein, almost zero refined carbs, lots of fruit & vegetables. It's the cocktails and the portion size that's getting me. :drinker: I'm from…

I saw myself in a mirror and thought, who the hell is THAT? Profile - seated view. I frightened my ownself!
-
Oh yes! And fighting all the way!
-
Yes, definitely. I don't feel normal anymore unless some part of me is sore.
-
Oh *kitten*, was that a bear?
-
I love you! I'm 49!

A couple years ago, I lost 60 pounds on MFP with a 1200 calorie diet and cardio. I gained 15 back and tried doing the same thing to lose weight and guess what? It didn't work. Pretty sure I messed up my metabolism. So I went to a trainer and she also put me on a higher calorie diet, 40/40/20, and I started lifting heavy.…

OK, now that's way cool. I also found something called a Mio Link - it's pretty new, but looks like it might meet my specs. :)

I was JUST cruising the BodyMedia site and saw the dang monthly fee. I thought I'd hit the jackpot, but...denied!

I like the HRM, I don't like that it has a chest strap. What's nice about it is that you can program your own age, weight, etc. into it and keep an eye on your heart rate while you lift. Some types of lifting get my heart rate soaring. Like I said, there's aspects to both items that I really like, I just wish I could find…
-
I know the HRM doesn't calculate accurately for weight lifting. I also do cardio. I'm just looking for an all in one device, without a chest strap, that will cover whatever form of workout I'm doing. Sometimes I do both in one session at the gym.

Well, we're not just gonna let you walk outta here...
